- Blues piano comping - improvising a accompaniment in a blues style - is a really useful skill to work on, even if the blues isn't your main area of musical interest. The basic concepts are straightforward and you don't have to learn a ton of music theory, so you get sit down at the piano and start working right away. You'll still find plenty to challenge you, though, which is good, because improvising on the piano in this style is really good for your hand independence and general coordination.

Not too over my head, and sounds great!
Hi Bill this is very instructive. Many thanks for posting and enlightening us on the joys of playing!
Love this! 👍
Excellent Bill 😊
good stuff bill...thanks
Excellent sir
Thank You, Bill. Your videos have really helped me in my improvisation. So thankful for your videos!
You're welcome, Oliver, as ever!
His first demo is much like the Simply Piano “Almamata Blues”. LH fingering a little different but out come is the same. RH is playing “cage chords”. Listen to this bloke, he is giving a really good foundation to developing one’s blues skills.
Great video. Loved the altered chords at the end.
Thanks, Geoff!
I picked up your book after recently picking piano back up after a decade hiatus, and it's uncanny how much of it fills the gaps I never had explained to me as a child. Absolutely love it and all your videos, thanks for what you do!
You're welcome Sean - thanks for buying the book, and it's great to hear you're finding it useful! Give me a shout if you ever have any questions/need guidance!
What gaps were you having? Considering the book!
I've learned so much from you that I'll be taking you up on that book deal.
Merci beaucoup.
A merci a vous aussi, Lawrence!
