    This was my first time watchig. Dwyane Wade, watched it live and I just remember how I instantly became a fan of his after his performance. I was about 12 years old at the time and have followed his career to this day. Thanks for the memories Flash, basketball won’t be the same without you...

    As a UK fan that was 4 years old when laettner happened, this was the most devastating loss of my lifetime. I fucking bawled like a baby. Why did I just watch this again?

  • @spinblackcircles
    @spinblackcircles Před 5 lety +18

    As a UK fan, this was the biggest heartbreak I ever suffered and the most impressive game I’ve ever seen from an opposing player in the ncaa tournament. D wade could not be stopped. It makes it sting less now after he became a top 20 all time nba player. At least it wasn’t just some random dude that ended our season. That 03 UK team was no joke, it was tubbys best team at UK and they went undefeated in the SEC and were on a 26 game winning streak. But our best defender Keith Bogans hurt his ankle against Wisconsin in the game before this, not sure it would have really mattered but we didn’t have anyone else quick enough to stay even close to wade as you see in this video. Bogans could have at least slowed him down a little had he not been playing on one ankle. Either way, hats off to Marquette for a perfect game plan in this game. go big blue!

    I cant believe he was picked 5th. After this performance scouts should have known that this guy is going to be special. No offense to Bosh or Melo who were picked ahead him but Wade obviously should have been the 2nd pick of the draft. I know some of you will argue Carmelo but I would rather have Wade since he is a better playmaker and defender and his playstyle translates to winning more at the NBA level more than Carmelo did.

    • @melev23

      That was one of the craziest draft classes in recent memory. Wade went 4th behind LBJ, Bosh & Melo. I agree though. I think the tourney is where you really find out who’s gonna shine on the biggest stage.

      Except for a better Kansas team! Kirk Heinich, who later played twelve years in NBA and in his prime was all-defensive team a number of times, guarded Wade and stopped him from having the type game he had against Kentucky. Kansas won something like 103-69 . . . Marquette was never in the game.
