Hey mate I’ve got the same hilux and I mounted mine on the left of the steering wheel just below the wipers there is a flat spot perfect for it I believe Toyota made it for uhf and there’s is a nice hideaway on the left for the box to
Do what you wish mate. You don’t have to mount it there. Make your own bracket or something, also if you drill a hole you can paint the raw metal and if you’re afraid of rust. 🤙🏻

For maximum range always mount the antenna on the highest part of your vehicle, which is the roof.

I don’t think so I’m pretty sure the fuse box will be in the way but plenty of other spots to mount them even under the centre console 👍🏻

You mounted it to the wrong spot supposed to be under the plastic trim on a fender bolt
