I'm still scratching my head wondering why Bournemouth sacked Gary O'Neill.
That seems awfully harsh.
New owners are allowed to bring their man in. They finished 15th and their form was up and down under O’Neill. No surprise for me whatsoever. They obviously want a manager who can push them on.
Martin Keown has been scratching his head something awful as well, it looks like.
Due to criminal investigation apparently. Will take too much of his focus this year.
@@doubleuponbob3397😂
@@uk145 what criminal investigation?
Kept a team up their previous manager had said were useless. Sacked within weeks of doing it. The game is really losing touch with reality.
or smart thinking.... result will show.
lots of team retain a managermcosmof what they did and not what they can do or are doing and it backfires.
Only the future will tell but i never expected this
Brighton did sack Chris Haughton in similar circumstances and live happily
Useless Yanks they're clueless. Guaranteed relegation
@@loudmouthdiaries5188Bournemouth aren’t as well run as Brighton tho
But they only stayed up because the teams below them were doing the best they could to get relegated.
Unbelievable lack of self awareness. Too many managers end up failing upwards, yet when a guy steps up and does the business he gets the boot. Mental.
We said the same about Hughton at Brighton though - if they can get the appointment right, it could absolutely rocket them up the league. When you have Burnley coming up and other teams turning it around, i think they have to take the gamble
@@user-bb6hg2rz5brocket them up the league lol.
@@jamesfretwell1511 Look at Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, Aston Villa lol
Gary can always come back 10 games into the season if it falls apart.
The PL is a 3 tiered league and AFC Bournemouth are tier 3. No disrespect but staying up is always going to be there mandate.
Sick world we live in. What did they really expect him to do. Win the league ffs. He did a great job then gets sacked. Whats the logic
Think it depends on who they hire. They were statistically the worse club in the league, so arguable got lucky. But agree, they will probably get relegated
Shaun daisch anyone
Steve Bruce 😂😂😂
@@kooler8586 Big Sam?!
Unless you can come up with the actual reasoning used to sack him and find a replacement then you're reacting emotionally.
Apparently the new appointment is made and it's Andoni Iraola. What are the factors to hire this manager including signings and other agreements?
Imagine just walking in the board room and saying this 😂
If you were to grade Gary O'Neil performance at Bournemouth, its a 10/10. He achieved the absolute maximum for a club like that. When he took over they were odds on to be relegated
Poor decision but at least I think Gary O'Neil will be given a good shot at another job in the near future.
Hopefully a better one!
I speak for all Bournemouth fans that we are forever thankful to Garry but it’s the correct decision
Can we at Leeds get him
After keeping them up that's what he gets its very brutal it seems he's too good for them.
He was being touted by many as Prem Manager of the Season for keeping Bournemouth up. Disgraceful decision. Now I really hope they finish bottom & get relegated next season, which'd just serve the new know-it-all American owners right.
That comment is not fair on the Bournemouth supporters, they didn't sack him.
Breaking news!Bournemouth have confirmed they are playing in the Championship in 2024-25 season.
Hope so after that
Hope so!!!
Hope so too
And he's going to Bournemouth, if he's that good why not a bigger club!!?
I'm hoping it happens!!
Bournemouth is gonna live to regret it and it’s the author of its own downfall!
Gary O’Neil had a mediocre team with no budget, he kept the team up, what more could he have done?!
This is absolutely sickening!
He was poor just escaped relegation
No budget we were on of the highest spenders in January
@@jamesftw1641yes, finally someone understands, we spent more than most, the 3rd highest spenders in Europe in the January transfer market spending 80 million, with the quality we brought in and got 39 points ehhh it’s poor
@@whoknew2273we had poor performance as well, against the likes of Palace, Brighton Brentford and Southampton at home
Shows exactly how little you know about Bournemouth.
After listening to the fans, I want Bournemouth to go down now. Go, go, go... Hope Gary gets a better job!
After keeping them up finished 15 they sack him crazy
O Neill is better off without them if that’s his reward for keeping them up when they were probably amongst the favourites to go down.
I cant quite believe this im a Liverpool fan and i'm shellshocked what more could the man do
Gets even more shocking considering whom the hired instead -> Andoni Iraola (Andoni who?)
Br.Saints fan
Don't worry... they'll go down next season for sure....so they'll get what they're looking for
Karma for the stupid Bournemouth owners will be going down next season
I hope the good Bournemouth players leave the club because everyone is wishing the stupid owners to get karma, aswell as me
@magnusfiskvik509 I mean he's not a bad manager it's just you don't sack someone who is doing a incredible job
Brendan Rodgers kicking tyres thinking "Christ almighty i could have got that job instead".
Instead of at some manky poor excuse of a club. Guy must be gutted!
Indeed. Bournemouth or a top 32 club in world football and the champions league group stage.
Tough one for Rodger’s? Grow up you twonk!
Insane! there were talks of him missing out on the manager of the season nominations and now sacked?!
Brighton sacked Chris Haughton in similar circumstances and live better for it
@@loudmouthdiaries5188 Brighton were trash when he managed them though. getting smashed every week.
@@loudmouthdiaries5188how many times are you going to make this point? Brighton are amazingly well run club, Bournemouth arent Brighton.
@@jamesfretwell1511 they have a new owner , they decide to keep Gary o Neil despite his lack of experience, now they are firing. They are well run
They were tweeting he was manager of the season in May. Massively over achieved last season. Minging club, hope they go down
I think there is something more to this sacking that meets the eye!! It just doesn’t make sense from a footballing perspective! Unless Uncle Harry has put Frank’s name forward!😂
His leaving might not have anything to do with football matters!!
Brutal isn't a strong enough word. He saved them without a doubt ,got the boys together and played superbly. Footballs becoming a joke now
Madness theyve sacked him, he exceeded all expectations last season must be something going on behind the scenes or have a higher profile manager lined up - hope it backfires on them
Absolute disgrace. Hope they get relegated after that abysmal decision.
Jim White and Jeff Stelling, absolute legends😂
Sure his replacement is in already, Martin was spot on.
Conte to Bournemouth! 😂
I feel that this sacking is a bit harsh. Bournemouth weren't bad to watch at times. I had them slated to go down but they were pretty comfortable in the end. This is a decision that could come back to haunt them!
Pretty much everyone had Bournemouth to finish dead last at the start of the season. Keeping them up was a huge achievement, potentially manager of the season. Ridiculous
Bizarre decision by the owners
Bournemouth will be one to get relegated for upcoming season ahead getting unknown manager to replace Gary O'Neil, who done his job by keeping them up yet sack him for it.
I Salute You Simon ✊
So they chose the players not the manager. Must of gave him a take it or leave it so he said sack me I’m off 🤷🏾♂️
I remember when they sack nigel at leicester and they won the league...I remember when chris hutton was fired and graham potter took Brighton higher...lets see how this goes.
Not at lot different to Palace and Viera/Hodgson. Also see Sheffield Wednesday at it as well
There are always some insane decisions like this that happen every season now. It's baffling.
Man UTD fan. Think this is shocking. Garl O'Neil will end up at Leicester and get promoted whilst Bournmouth go down next season
Bournemouth will be doing a leeds next season sacking managers left right and centre and before they drop down to the championship bring in big sam he is the man to make sure they go down
Gary O'Neil should have been manager of the season last year because what he did with a side Just battered 9-0 was remarkable. Feeling so sorry for him but another example of owners who know nothing with delusions of grandure
Looking at this as an ex-pat from across the pond... reminds me of our situation at West Ham where at the end of last season we weren't doing well, only made qualifiers for Euro Conf Cup and it carried over into the beginning of this last season, losing games. Perhaps the boss at Bournmouth is looking at the end of this last season and doesn't want to see the team digging out of a hole early on in August/September. Writing on the wall kind of stuff.
There is something we don't know; either gary has a new job lined up or more likely, bournemorth have another manager they see stronger about to step in.
I certainly agree that this came out of nowhere and many had him up there with manager of the season based on the results he got out of his players in such a short time. Football these days is vicious.
He will be a great manager somewhere else but for now he needs to focus on the criminal investigation and, if it comes to pass, the subsequent court case. Let's see what happens thereafter.
Ultimately not a football decision
Bournemouth are doing the same what Chelsea did. Gotta feel for Gary as he did a good job.
I am a Toon supporter and I am utterly shocked with this decision. Absolutely mental.
That caller reckoning we may replace Eddie Howe? There would be a backlash up here if that happened, divvint worry aboot that.
The decision seems to be baffling to everyone apart from the people that actually watch Bournemouth regularly.
Love re-visiting these old videos and reading all the knee-jerk reaction comments. The owner has a vision and was prepared to make a change to try and push the club forward. It was a tough start before everything started to click but over the past 25 games Bournemouth sit 7th in the PL form table and 20 points above the relegation zone.
So unfair considering he kept Bournemouth in the premier League
That's the thanks you get !
It makes no sense, had they a "big" name lined up then maybe but that is not the case. The reason they fired him is because the new owner clearly feels he is not a big enough name to draw in players and sponsors.
They're Bournemouth lmfao 😂
Oh no they didnt , wow i bet he didnt complain either , just happy to be a prem manager , and left with dignity just brutal actually.
The ' logic ' is the owner is 77 and wants to see success in his lifetime. Take a look at the Vegas Golden Knights. This guy ain't fooling.
Hope Bournemouth go down next season
Andoni Iraola is the new head coach on two-year deal
Wtf??
Why? I prefer his management style to Dyche's anyday. We at EFC would be proud to have such an up and coming young manager.
What the hell has gone on here?
I'm more interested in who Bournemouth get as a replacement. A high profile manager with success is on the cards. Will Newcastle stick with Eddie Howe? Could he become available, or perhaps Benitez is currently unemployed. However it goes, I think it's a mistake to let Oneil go. Watch this space.
Don’t understand this decision. I really hope Bournemouth go down now
If you watched us play week after week, this isn't that much of a surprise. No identity or consistency, some great moments, but also some total dross. Feel sorry for him, but didn't feel like he would necessarily improve us past just 'staying up'. Gary leaves with his stock high - can get a Championship job for sure. Makes sense to do this now and not at Christmas.
Nothing wrong with the club wanting to change the way they play and have clearly full confidence the new manager can do that
He could not have done anything more.
He kept them up ! Ruthless
Maybe there was a problem btw board and the manager
Let’s hope they go down.
Maybe he asked for investment from the owners?
It could go two ways now, they could push on like Brighton and Villa or get relegated like Leeds. Very harsh though.
Adoni Iraola is hired. That's part of the reason amongst strategy and stats and finance.
Watching this as Darren Moore has just left newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday too - what is going on?!
He’s obviously had some sort of fall out with the board
Everyone said this after Scott parker, just you wait
B. just appointed Spanish coach Andoni Iraola, ex Rayo Vallecano who finished 11th last season with one notable win against Barca but otherwise nothing special...
Wouldn’t mind him @ Leeds!!
Who would honestly want to manage in this league.
Crazy that they sacked him after the job he done. Crazy that some Bournemouth fans are not shocked. Maybe you didn't have a great end to the season but with that squad he has kept you up. A squad he didn't spit together. Give him a chance to kick on
I'm a carlisle utd fan , but I am sure he had them playing well last few months,, big surprise.. I think they made a bad decision here ,,, but time will tell. Good luck Bournemouth fans
That has to be one of the worst decisions i have seen Gary O’Neill did a great job won’t be surprised if they get relegated next season
They must have someone lined up. Only way.
Ridiculous decision. Pep and klopp would have struggled in this job. You get what you deserve sometimes and Bournemouth will get relegated next season
It's disappointing given that Scott Parker said the team wasn't good enough, given the "owners" hadn't invested in the team. Then Gary O'Neil stepped in and kept them up.
It's only harsh because the remit he was given when he got the Bournemouth job was to keep them in the Premier League which he achieved. He has EVERY right to feel hard done by because realistically what MORE could he of done?
I kind of hope they go down next season now as it would serve them right!!
Did they expect O'Neill to win the league? He did what was expected of him which was to stay up. He didn't do a Parker where he asked the club to bascially sack him.
It’s harsh, but if the club want to progress and have someone else aligned to the clubs philosophy, then it’s the clubs decision that makes sense.
Wasnt there an accusation about a premier league manager the day before? Shouldnt speculate if these 2 are linked but seems a very strange sacking, something major must have happened.
If they go down next season, this would go down as the worst premier league decision ever made.
If they have an opportunity to get a big name manager they’ll jump at it.
While he did well to keep them up it seems they are/were consigned to a bottom 6 tussle again….
If a new owner comes in it’s his prerogative to assess the scenario and go in a different direction.
Clearly English managers are not held in high regard or highly sought
its basically like saving someone from a shark tank then that person who you saved turns around and pushes you in for no real reason.
Iraola should do a good job there ....
If Lampard joins them then they're definitely down next season..
Hope they go down next season
Seems harsh, is Graham Potter in the frame?
Newcastle fan here. Would you like Ryan Fraser back?
Hope they go down now
I have not watched this yet but WTF. He kept them up, what more do they expect?
Losing to Everton is definitely a sackable offence tbf
And this is the issue with football -
What's with Simon's "Simple Jack" haircut?
don't know anyone who said they stay up when he took over done a great job keeping them up
Shocking! that's loyalty for you. Actually there's no loyalty in football.
Could someone tell me what the next level is for Bournemouth!
Mide table, top 6 or top 2
Championship football😅😅😅
@@abdirizackaden148 if championship football is the next level, fair enough.
@paulrobinson478 they deserve it tho after their shocking decision.
Ideal appointment for reading
They ask for transfers and then they are sacked
Happens all the time
this is a reason why i always am on the side of the players or managers when it comes to power over their career.. this the opposite of meritocra.. go get that bag these owners are brutal..
Their end of season form was bad. Maybe the owners were afraid that it would continue into the new season. Perhaps they thought it was a good time for a shake up ? Whatever the reason, football management is a ruthless business, and football fans can be fickle when things go wrong.
It all depends on who they hire.
Was he not in the discussion for moty? That's insane, think most neutrals will Want them to go down
This seems insane
Frank Lampard got another job 😮, as Jimmy Greaves would say " It's Funny old Game".
