It's only harsh because the remit he was given when he got the Bournemouth job was to keep them in the Premier League which he achieved. He has EVERY right to feel hard done by because realistically what MORE could he of done?
I kind of hope they go down next season now as it would serve them right!!

Did they expect O'Neill to win the league? He did what was expected of him which was to stay up. He didn't do a Parker where he asked the club to bascially sack him.

It’s harsh, but if the club want to progress and have someone else aligned to the clubs philosophy, then it’s the clubs decision that makes sense.

Wasnt there an accusation about a premier league manager the day before? Shouldnt speculate if these 2 are linked but seems a very strange sacking, something major must have happened.

If they go down next season, this would go down as the worst premier league decision ever made.

If they have an opportunity to get a big name manager they’ll jump at it.
While he did well to keep them up it seems they are/were consigned to a bottom 6 tussle again….
If a new owner comes in it’s his prerogative to assess the scenario and go in a different direction.

Their end of season form was bad. Maybe the owners were afraid that it would continue into the new season. Perhaps they thought it was a good time for a shake up ? Whatever the reason, football management is a ruthless business, and football fans can be fickle when things go wrong.
