This variation of kata guruma developed to makes us (as judokas) able to use kata guruma without grab the leg or trousers because grabbing legs and trousers is illegal in judo
The majority says this is a modern fireman's carry/kata guruma. I argue that it is not because in the original video the opponent did not wheel over the shoulder, but got throw using momentum and direction. It is more like an uki-waza or uki otoshi.
I think he intended to do the no-leg kata guruma that he demostrates, but maybe the opponent arm was stiff, and Dom pulled his leg back at the last moment and just dropped. I have heard this called seoi-snap, although the seoi-snap is shown with more traditional grips where the sleeve and same-side lapel are held as we are used to, not with swapped hands swapped like Dom did it.
They're gradually bringing it back too much heat from the fans. You can grab the leg at the end of a throw to finish it as an example. Oh, and no more head stands so that your back doesn't hit the floor when thrown.
We go for this a lot but rotate all the way in and call it a Top Side Drop Seoi nage works great czcams.com/video/WTBzORASqm4/video.html This is an excellent kata guruma variation for Jiu-Jitsu. Everyone is always stiff arming that collar and they turn you right in to the momentum 🔥
Im sure hes demonstrating with the steps being priority of this video. I dont know how you can successfully do most take downs or throws without kuzishi
That takedown only works if the opponent's arm is overstretched and his center of gravity is extended toward the person pulling him or her down. Who ever extends their center of gravity at any one direction, he or she can be push, thrown and grappled down to the floor. That is why the basic of martial arts like Judo, Karate and Aikido is the shifting of gravity through displacement of your legs and stances.
Lotta people calling this a fireman’s carry, which it is not, kinda. The fireman carry involves hi-c’ing the leg. You could call this a fireman carry, but that’s mostly because wrestling is a lot more simple with naming techniques, and a wider range of variations usually get called the same thing.
I've been doing this move in wrestle for along time. you just control the back of the tricep and wrist with the opposite hand , change level and dump Just a version of a Firemen Carry.
No leg fireman’s Cary. It’s been in judo for around 2 years, and was hit at the world judo event by Israel or Greece. It’s why BJJ is now calling it their own. Judo comes up with it, bjj puts a fancy name on it and calls it their own. And dowses judo on not being inventive, stuck in their ways, and subpar to bjj. Go learn judo!
It has been in judo for way longer than that. 12ish years ago when they started banning leg grabs one of my training partners was excited to start using this, thinking no one knew about it. Then at the ref's meeting for a tournament that starting demonstrating it as a legal version of kata guruma. My friend was bummed they started giving away his "secret" technique.
PAL, LOOK TWICE BECAUSE WHAT YOU SHOW US (WITH A MALE AND FEMALE JUDOKA) IS NOT THE SAME WITH THE PROCEDURE APPLIED IN THAT COMPETITION !!!!!!!!!!!!! RESPECT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats and invert Kata guruma it has been developed for competition recently and is due to the fact that you can not grab the legs in competition...new rule Judo competition
Can you show us some more take downs that are more street wise, I'd like to not shatter my knee caps on the concrete tossing/flipping an opponent.... appreciate it big dawg...
what if,hear me out, what if,instead of the arm and wrist hold you start to sing cowboy love ballads😮 and your opponent starts harmonising😮what then dude!?? like😮what then !?
I cannot believe these martial arts still wear nonpractical uniforms. Why can't they wear a simple one piece shirt rather than a bath robe with a belt? Never made any sense.
It may not make sense now but it for sure made sense at a point in time. The uniform was made to imitate usual streetwear of late 19th century japan and also to be durable for training. Also in the context of sport aspect of martial arts, it gives much greater depth to them. It may not be applicable if someone is wearing a shirt, but if it's a jacket or a coat then it works well enough
There must be an easier way to ask her out to dinner

Modern kata-guruma
Its only "modern" Kata Guruma in Judo because of the rules making it more common. It is nothing new at all.
The majority says this is a modern fireman's carry/kata guruma. I argue that it is not because in the original video the opponent did not wheel over the shoulder, but got throw using momentum and direction. It is more like an uki-waza or uki otoshi.
It could be a kata guruma attempt but the way the opponent reacted caused it to be something else.

I have heard this called seoi-snap, although the seoi-snap is shown with more traditional grips where the sleeve and same-side lapel are held as we are used to, not with swapped hands swapped like Dom did it.
He attacks the inside leg though. Cool breakdown
the throw in the competition was a zubuneri as there was no shoulder contact, the throw in the training session was a kata guruma
But he smashed his shoulder into his knee though?
It's a variation of kata guruma a.k.a fireman's carry. It's become the most popular variation since leg grabs have been banned in Olympic judo.
They're gradually bringing it back too much heat from the fans. You can grab the leg at the end of a throw to finish it as an example. Oh, and no more head stands so that your back doesn't hit the floor when thrown.
