After the major success of the inaugural event in 2021, numerous VW racers and fans got hooked on Samoa Drag Strip. In 2022, the Fast4Cartel brought the competition back to the same venue. Blitz on the Beach 2 was an epic Ohana-style drag race, held at the second-oldest National Hot Rod Association member’s track in Eureka, California. It welcomed about 50 VW racers, ready for action-packed drag races and fun activities.
On Sunday, 49 VW racers made the first-round of elimination (Heavy class: 4 entries, Light class: 7, Triple Index: 16, Sportsman Index: 14, Powder Puff: 6, exhibition: two Dragsters).
The final eliminations of the Heavy class paired Andrew Kremers and Brian Marvin. Light class: Danny Kyleberg vs Devin Earhart; Triple Index class: Jim Martin vs John Schuerger; Sportsman class: Nick Thompson vs Richard Kidd; Powder Puff class: Michelle Copeland vs Alisha Chavez. The following racers took trophies with cash prizes: Andrew Kremers ($650), Danny Kyleberg ($1000 prize), John Schuerger ($1200), Richard Kidd ($400), and Alisha Chavez ($200).
We would like to highlight the most incredible supporters of the Fast4Cartel event: Tom Kinney, Sherri Kinney, their family and crew of California Auto Image. They set up an “Ohana-style” Hawaiian cafeteria with seats and tables for 20-30 people in the pit area. They then served amazing Hawaiian breakfasts, lunches, and even dinners to ALL racers during the weekend. The cafeteria became a great social hub during the race weekend to get to know racers and their friends. Also, another Aloha VW racer, John Limnios, brought a BBQ setup to cook a whole pig. He spent five hours cooking it between races. This is a mind-blowing highlight of the event.
