he even had fastest lap twice in the late stages of the race. He didn't finish ahead of George but he was easily the quickest of the 2 Mercedes in that race.
Race highlight: Charles is a beast and was pulling away at the front but his car gave out! George played great defence on an powerful RB on the straights and held both the RB back for a long time Hamilton went from last to giving up to 5th Checo becoming the new Bottas RB has mechanical issues while Ferrari has power unit issues Bottas had a solid race Overall - RB and Ferrari has issues and Merc took a great step forward. A three way fight to title will be an amazing thing!
@@louisindradjaja2535 Seinz was driving with a damaged car after the spin. (this was revealed in the post interview). Hence why the two Mercedes cars had the 2nd and 3rd fastest lap times on that day. Perez was the fastest (hence why he was awarded the bonus point for being the fastest). Leclerc was out. Max had DRS issues. Seinz sustained damage. So that left Perez with the fastest car on track, then the two Mercedes (before they started overheating).

The Merc drivers were fun to watch. But at the end the result is nothing special at all considering the Ferraris were ruining their race themself. Finishing 3rd and 5th is what is expected when 2 faster cars have problems and u have the 3rd best car.

If you look at pure data Verstappen was quicker the whole race and taking into consideration his DRS problems letting him by was the only reasonable solution for the team. I know Peraz may be sad but he was just slower and that's it.

I get Perez's response but Verstappen was a lot faster on those tires so it wasen't a question of if but more of when Perez would've been overtaken. Better not to risk anything, rbr has enough issues as it is.

It was neck and neck between the two teams but RB got hit by reliability issues earlier. Verstappen's insane form from last season is still on going, P1 or P2 if not DNF, excluding Hungary when he had half a car. Let's see if Leclerc could handle the pressure from two more experienced drivers in RB

You will probably defend the outcome of the race but yes he did finish behind 13 seconds because they pitted Perez a third time which wasn't the original plan. He was instructed to let Max pass on two occasions throughout the race when Checo was apparently not having any issues with his car. Yes, I do use my brain and I did watch the race and my opinion is unbiased. There is a video here on CZcams with the audio between Checo and his engineer. Its about 8 minutes long. You can clearly hear that Checo was being faster than Max 70% to 80% of the race. Once Leclerc retired, the only person that was capable of winning the race was actually Checo. If you watch the race again with an unbiased mindset I think no one will argue that Checo's race was sabotaged by his own team. Dont get me wrong, Max is a superb driver and is RB's star but Checo has been closing the gap this season.

first, max would've overtook him even without orders on the fresher tires and perez still had to pit. second, if you are against a max or a hamiltn in a team, and they are consistently faster, it means you will do a 2nd driver job. tbh, if you get a contract offered next to max or Lewis, you should let is cross your mind that there is a big possibility that they are (much) faster

Lets give George actual credit. Even if it was a DRS issue for Max, he STILL defended a world champion well, point blank period. However, even George knows and has said as much himself to media that the car now with upgrades is getting to the point where they want it to be, but it still needs work to really pose a real certifiable and reliable challenge to Red Bull or Ferrari BUT that isn't for lack of driving on George's point. Just look at his track record this season. You can't ignore the fact that the two of them, he and Hamilton, who could have been 4th, were top 5. You don't get up there on pure luck alone especially given the early issues for Hamilton in the race.

First of all, Max actually WAS on a different strategy, he had fresher tires and he was quicker when he was behind Checo. That said, with the margins being this small for the championship lead it's only logical that RB chose to let Max win instead of taking a huge risk and let both drivers race for it. The victory gave Max the lead in the championship while a 2nd place would only tie both Leclerc and Verstappen, and ONLY if Max would've managed to get the fastest lap too! With Leclerc's retirement, this was a great chance to cancel out one of Max's retirements in the races that Leclerc won, you never know when if you'll ever get another chance like that in the season, so RB ceased the opportunity when it arose. Would Max have lead the championship by a comfortable margin I have no doubt that RB would've granted Checo the victory, but the margins are slim and there's much at stake so I can understand RB's decision to let Max pass Checo. Just look at last season when the two championship rivals entered the final race with an equal tally of points and Max nearly lost the title, that was too close for RB's comfort and they will not let it come to that again if they can do anything about it. It may be a bit harsh for Checo, but he was hired to be Max's wingman in the first place..... still, I think RB will grant him his successes if the championship standings allow it.
Thats not racing...two competive drivers should be able to race each other...the race would been more interesting that what sport is about, competing...race directors or managers shouldnt decide who they want to win

Remember Sergio in Mexico, the beautiful overtake he did on Lewis? Similar overtake on Russell here. Interestingly George moves to the inside, and somehow baiting Max into taking a dirtier (further) inside and (rather poor) line into the turn, nice defending. And the second time that's shown here, Max follows George before moving back to the outside but George covers him off into the turn. Max will have some video reviewing to do to get past George I guess. Sergio was having none of it though :)
Checo was treated poorly by red bull today. He made no mistakes and they wouldn’t let him past Max to attack Russell when he had better tyres and a working DRS but as soon as he was ahead he had to let Max past twice. Poorly handled by red bull.
Not really he was much slower than verstappen at the end so it makes sense to let verstappen past and then at the end of the race checo was 18 seconds off verstappen so no where near the pace

to be fair, he could only catch up with MAX because MAX was stuck behind RUS, without DRS. Checo laptimes were slower. In the end still a difference of 15 sec. (both 3 stops, Max NO DRS and a spin......)
Checo finishes almost every race 30 or 40 seconds behind Max with the same car. Even without drs, Max still finished 15 seconds ahead today. Fans like you are really funny.

No one who partners Max will be allowed to win, it's just a fact. If they have that desire they are replaced. Max is always priority otherwise he will go elsewhere and be their priority. But Perez knew this when he signed up.

That brilliant sustained defense by RusseII over a surging Verstappen on lap 24 was some of the best driving I've seen in at least a couple seasons...Russell was tough and cool under tremendous pressure and made a split-second calculation to instantaneously re-take the inside corner (a mental-physical move so synchronized here that it seems psychic; also, a move that probably less than .01% of the human population could pull off). But I also want credit Verstappen for his forceful, deft pressuring of Russell (he had some difficulty holding the outside of a turn that didn't help much but the tires were a problem for some today)...It takes two to tango -- and what a beautiful dance we witnessed.

Charles is a beast and was pulling away at the front but his car gave out!
George played great defence on an powerful RB on the straights and held both the RB back for a long time
Hamilton went from last to giving up to 5th
Checo becoming the new Bottas
RB has mechanical issues while Ferrari has power unit issues
Bottas had a solid race
Overall - RB and Ferrari has issues and Merc took a great step forward. A three way fight to title will be an amazing thing!
MMM checo passed within 2 laps and max was limping with his DRS....... its a start but a wait a few races before celebrating

What about Hamilton overtaking Sainz so easily? Their tires were only 3 laps different and Ferrari is supposedly the faster car by a margin.

Hence why the two Mercedes cars had the 2nd and 3rd fastest lap times on that day. Perez was the fastest (hence why he was awarded the bonus point for being the fastest).
Leclerc was out. Max had DRS issues. Seinz sustained damage.
So that left Perez with the fastest car on track, then the two Mercedes (before they started overheating).
Hamilton must be so concerning for Ferrari and RB that kinda pace without any significant time for upgrades is sickening

If you look at pure data Verstappen was quicker the whole race and taking into consideration his DRS problems letting him by was the only reasonable solution for the team. I know Peraz may be sad but he was just slower and that's it.

I get Perez's response but Verstappen was a lot faster on those tires so it wasen't a question of if but more of when Perez would've been overtaken. Better not to risk anything, rbr has enough issues as it is.

It was an unlucky day for Charles but the driver of the day is Lewis Hamilton he came back from 19 th to finish in p5 and also checo who defended hard for Max. Don't know what happened to George that time otherwise it's very hard to overtake George and also George is also the one who defends hard like Checo. we already saw that between him and Max.

It was neck and neck between the two teams but RB got hit by reliability issues earlier. Verstappen's insane form from last season is still on going, P1 or P2 if not DNF, excluding Hungary when he had half a car. Let's see if Leclerc could handle the pressure from two more experienced drivers in RB

You will probably defend the outcome of the race but yes he did finish behind 13 seconds because they pitted Perez a third time which wasn't the original plan. He was instructed to let Max pass on two occasions throughout the race when Checo was apparently not having any issues with his car. Yes, I do use my brain and I did watch the race and my opinion is unbiased. There is a video here on CZcams with the audio between Checo and his engineer. Its about 8 minutes long. You can clearly hear that Checo was being faster than Max 70% to 80% of the race. Once Leclerc retired, the only person that was capable of winning the race was actually Checo. If you watch the race again with an unbiased mindset I think no one will argue that Checo's race was sabotaged by his own team. Dont get me wrong, Max is a superb driver and is RB's star but Checo has been closing the gap this season.

first, max would've overtook him even without orders on the fresher tires and perez still had to pit. second, if you are against a max or a hamiltn in a team, and they are consistently faster, it means you will do a 2nd driver job. tbh, if you get a contract offered next to max or Lewis, you should let is cross your mind that there is a big possibility that they are (much) faster

Lets give George actual credit. Even if it was a DRS issue for Max, he STILL defended a world champion well, point blank period. However, even George knows and has said as much himself to media that the car now with upgrades is getting to the point where they want it to be, but it still needs work to really pose a real certifiable and reliable challenge to Red Bull or Ferrari BUT that isn't for lack of driving on George's point. Just look at his track record this season. You can't ignore the fact that the two of them, he and Hamilton, who could have been 4th, were top 5. You don't get up there on pure luck alone especially given the early issues for Hamilton in the race.
Tsunoda fought the race in a difficult situation and scored a precious point.
I am proud of him as a Japanese.

First of all, Max actually WAS on a different strategy, he had fresher tires and he was quicker when he was behind Checo.
That said, with the margins being this small for the championship lead it's only logical that RB chose to let Max win instead of taking a huge risk and let both drivers race for it.
The victory gave Max the lead in the championship while a 2nd place would only tie both Leclerc and Verstappen, and ONLY if Max would've managed to get the fastest lap too!
With Leclerc's retirement, this was a great chance to cancel out one of Max's retirements in the races that Leclerc won, you never know when if you'll ever get another chance like that in the season, so RB ceased the opportunity when it arose.
Would Max have lead the championship by a comfortable margin I have no doubt that RB would've granted Checo the victory, but the margins are slim and there's much at stake so I can understand RB's decision to let Max pass Checo.
Just look at last season when the two championship rivals entered the final race with an equal tally of points and Max nearly lost the title, that was too close for RB's comfort and they will not let it come to that again if they can do anything about it.
It may be a bit harsh for Checo, but he was hired to be Max's wingman in the first place..... still, I think RB will grant him his successes if the championship standings allow it.

Interestingly George moves to the inside, and somehow baiting Max into taking a dirtier (further) inside and (rather poor) line into the turn, nice defending.
And the second time that's shown here, Max follows George before moving back to the outside but George covers him off into the turn.

Checo was treated poorly by red bull today. He made no mistakes and they wouldn’t let him past Max to attack Russell when he had better tyres and a working DRS but as soon as he was ahead he had to let Max past twice. Poorly handled by red bull.

Pérez had no trouble at all in overtaking Russell (was quite easy as a matter of fact) and Verstappen struggled so much I thought he had the car damaged

Max tried overtake Russell on track, and he couldn´t... Checo arrived and overtook Russell fast.... That´s how much "faster" Max was
Russel had some impressive moments for himself. Glad to see mercedes are getting their car figured out. Hamilton with an absolute impressive comeback. Leclerc getting commentaried to oblivion was such a shame though.

George Russell proved he has a spine of steel. Verstappen never made anyone's life easier when trying to overtake but Russell's defense and coolness under pressure was impressive.

What a race by Norris! Poor guy was down with hay fever all week. The fact managed to finish P8 in that blistering heat is just unbelievable. Goes to show how mentally rock solid these drivers are.

pace wasn't enough. According to Toto hamilton's race pace was fast enough to keep up with Max and Charles. Russell's wasn't.

That brilliant sustained defense by RusseII over a surging Verstappen on lap 24 was some of the best driving I've seen in at least a couple seasons...Russell was tough and cool under tremendous pressure and made a split-second calculation to instantaneously re-take the inside corner (a mental-physical move so synchronized here that it seems psychic; also, a move that probably less than .01% of the human population could pull off). But I also want credit Verstappen for his forceful, deft pressuring of Russell (he had some difficulty holding the outside of a turn that didn't help much but the tires were a problem for some today)...It takes two to tango -- and what a beautiful dance we witnessed.

His driving abilities and defense was on top level, with the faster car he can win many races, he’s quick

It was shocking to hear Hamilton sound so dejected after the contact, asking to retire the car. Pretty remarkable to see him recover from the back for a top 5 finish. Looks like Mercedes finally has a competitive car this year.

What's the difference between Max vs. Lewis and Checo vs. Lewis racing each other?? The level of respect... it's either crashes everywhere or exciting clean race for everyone.
Its important to note that Max has shown a much higher performance than Perez for years. Perez has done so well and is my fav (I started watching in 2021) but Max will beat him anyways and the driver's championship is tight already

and lewis wanted to give up after the first lap puncture. he seems so distant from F1 this season from an outsiders perspective. this season just seems like a prolonged pity party for lewis. where as russell is really driving out of his socks for merc.
