Hopefully by this winter I will have set everything up that people can join his channel members and watch videos that are specific to members and if they pass the multiple choice test and submit the correct project I can give them a certificate but I am not a government certified school I'm just a famous QuickBooks dude

Thank you but QuickBooks online only looks slightly different with different colors but all the windows are there even if one or two move to a different part of the menu and everything is exactly the same so this video is perfect for the current version of QuickBooks Online
Don't be fooled by the different colors or if once in awhile a window moved to a different part of the menu for you to open that one and don't worry if they use a different word for the same thing the entire QuickBooks Online is the same and you can use this and all videos
And by the way if there's something the video is showing and you can't find it because of QuickBooks Online changed a little just leave me the question in the comments section and I'll show you where it is but that really won't happen most of the time

Hey Mark, To close a year as in Dec 31, 2023, do we need to do a closing entry to close the books to start 2024? Hangin' in there thanks for your help and guidance. 🤯 getting there!

In quick books online in most accounting software's,you do not have To Do the closing entries. This is because these programs will display the financial statements as if the closing entries were done anyway.
All the different between incoming expenses and past accounting periods would go to the retained earnings account. And if you studied accounting you would understand how that works out
I do have a playlist about owners equity and one of the videos explains how quick books that's top and quickbooks online managed retained earnings so that. You don't have the ball the doing any closing entries.

Thank you for your informative tutorials! They are SO well done! Question: If I am a free-lance bookkeeper, some of my expenses are business and easy to categorize. If I go to McDonalds, or buy gifts for my niece, these are personal expenses. If I put them under Bus Owners Pay/Personal Expense, then at the end of the year I don't really get a clear sort of how my personal money is spent, because everything is lumped together under the one equity category. Logically I can't wrap my head around this and I must be missing something. How will I know what I spend on groceries or movies if they don't each get their own account #?
Do I set up a "ghost" bank account, that money passes in and out of - and there I can categorize all the detail I want? Similar to how Paypal acts as a "pass-through" for money spent?
On that point I really don't know what you're talking about but just set up a separate quick books for home finance and keep your home finances separate from your business

If you have Qbo account and they can add you as an accountant user

Hello Mark, can you explain how can I import the client's bank statements. Do I need the client's ID and password to go to their account or the client receive a link to do it directly to QBO
The links at the bottom of the description field will lead you to the section of bank feeds and importing transactions.
There are 3 links to 3 separate courses that you will need as a self-employed bookkeeper and the middle one. The ones that talks about bank feeds and importing is the one. You need to watch and then you will have everything.
This video does mention that towards the beginning but as far as managing clients,the video also says that you can get the files to import from the client. If the client does not allow you to log in directly to their bank account

However,it seems to me that it would be unlikely that the specific qualifications that you have would discourage clients from letting you be there freelance bookkeeper. If you had everything else the video suggested that you have and do..
The only way to know is to give it a try and after this video that shouldn't be that much of a time sacrifice for you to find out. If doing this is right for you.

Most of this video is telling you how to be a self-employed person and all the knowledge you need legally and market-wise Etc
But listen carefully to how they redirect you to the other QuickBooks videos where you can start as an absolute beginner who knows nothing, and just watch just a few videos and become an expert on the QuickBooks part of the job

hello mark...i am aspiring to work as a virtual assistant in the capacity of an online bookkeeper...so the other day i signed up for the quickbooks online free accountant version...i provided all of the required information, including my name, the name of my "to be" bookkeeping business, and the email address of that business...when i sign in to qbo, at the top of the homepage, and slightly below and to the right of where it lists the qb "logo" and the word "accountant", it shows the name of my bookkeeping businesss...my question is, is that correct?...is that what should be showing there?...or should what be showing there be the name of one of my clients?

I don't really know exactly what field of data you are referring to but try putting your name and see what happens and then try putting your client's name and see what happens and then you'll figure out what goes in that field of data

hello again...yes i did do exactly that, and i changed the text there to read "not sure what goes here"...immediately underneath those words it says "danny's clients"...that's what led me to believe that perhaps a client's name, and not the name of my bookkeeping business, was supposed to appear there...anyway, i went back into "company settings" and changed it back again to my bookkeeping business name...it now seems pretty obvious that qbo is referring there to my business name, and not a client's business name@@worldwidequickbooks
