Im bias because im a trumpet player but ive told people you have to have upper brass to take you over the top into greatness, Memphis brought that out in full effect.. btw Georgia euphos are just lush and full and powerful, I can't even explain it but i feel like they make GAMB's sound.

If they "played it safe" I don't understand. You think them ppl wasn't finna travel all the way down and come lookin for destruction? And it just comes down to when songs were selected and just how lively the arrangements were. Nobody sounded like a mess, but GAMB had no aggression towards half the songs so it sounded like they were at a scrimmage while Memphis was at a battle.

So both bands agreed to 7 round battle. This was news to everyone when we got in the stands so what we are all mad about is that the stadium was only reserved for 2 hours and they got there 2 hours late. We was leaving because everyone was suppose to be out the stadium at 7pm and now both bands about to be hit with a penalty from the county because we couldn’t leave on time and Memphis wanted to keep playing. How you going to show up late and leave late.

What i think these Ga folks are not understanding is.. I believe most people are comparing BOTH Memphis and Ga to Ga 2022.. Ga 2022 have had a phenomenal year.. So when people see Ga 2023 being soo massive, They're expecting to hear Ga 2022, only bigger, louder and better. But the hard fact is. 2023 GA clearly does not have the fire that 2022 had. It is immediately noticed when hearing them. In other words. People are expecting to hear a Bigger AND Better Ga, in 2023. This means. If they're at least the same as last year but only bigger, There's no way a Smaller band should be able to touch them. But again. It is Very evident that Yes Ga is Bigger, But they clearly have a lot of fat. aka horn holders. And last but not least. Their songs just don't have the same Thunder as last year.. They sound like Ga, I'm not sure if it's the songs or what, but they do not have that Climax and fire like 2022 had. The songs are more mediocre for some reason. I've been trying to understand why this is the case. Because Logically speaking, Based on Formula, Ga2023 should be better than Ga 2022 But they are Not.. I really believe they destroyed thei formula they had by getting too big, having a lot of horn holders, thinking bigger will be better, . I still say, and i'm sure many would agree, If Ga 2022 was to battle Ga 2023, 22 would definitely win. Also, If Ga 2022 would have battled MMB 2023, Based on Quality and songs, Ga 2022 would have probably won that as well.
So back to my initial point. People were expecting to hear Ga 2022, only bigger. And that is what i believe is in the back of people's mind when they are viewing Ga 2023. Even though Ga is bigger, they've regressed. Not really in quality, but definitely in their writing and song selection. I even gave them the benefit of the doubt when i said, I'd hold off on a full judgement until i hear them Outside and more of their songs since a lot of Ga people get giving me flack and excuses saying, It's only because it was in the gym and I've only heard their showcase and not best songs and to wait for the Ga MMB battle. So i have, and this battle only solidified my initial judgment.
They fell back to what Georgia is known for that meac stuff with all them numbers. They have too many people and can’t put much on the paper, you see everytime they play something shorter than a half note it gets muddy. And folks already know their code so I don’t see them havin a 22 again.

In New Orleans had the numbers. even the Numbers from 2022, with the right songs i really believe they could really embarrass Gamb this year. It would be like a David and Goliath battle because based on what MMB did to them, We could do them 10 times as dirty. If New Orleans is really as small as they showed, it is such a tragic shame because they've missed up a once in a life time take down. You know how epic that would have been.

There is a such thing as too many horns. Georgia sounds powerful but distorted. I can’t hear the beauty in the arrangement because they are too loud. They have enough for 2 full bands. Memphis sounds great and I can hear all of their individual parts. I think Memphis wins this overall. By the way I’m not from either state so I have no skin in the game just my honest opinion.

mmb was messing up too much and them damn trumpets was hanging over entirely too much. GAMB sounded too loud could'nt hear alot sections. but to me they were cleaner. MMB had the better song selections thou. I do believe Gamb was saving songs for noasb thou and they played it safe and it back fired.
No point in saving songs for another battle when ultimately this battle will go on their record as an L.

Mess ups are an automatic round loss only if the other band didn't mess up that round. Not the case. Lol. Gamb overall had less mess up than Memphis but Gamb also had simpler arrangements.

Gamb did great and their band is massive so it hard to get the whole band on one page if they tried other songs but for this battle GA should sound good with unison whole and half note. Those arrangements were mid and saving good songs back fired. This was the battle and they didn’t understand the assignment I guess. Memphis got some moments they were too excited I think but they did a great job and they have no horn holders at all.
Say mike I got a question . GAMB is state funded . What does that mean , as far as funding to band traveling and stuff ?
I didn’t know anything about them being state funded. If they are it just means they have access to more funds than other programs. I’m not sure that they are.
