  • Sorry, don't know what show this is.
Jon talks about his role in the 'Bear,' his new crew cut, football, stunt men and of course, addresses those inevitable questions about his 'beefcake' & hunk status. He's most gracious to the hostess, making her blush happily by answering her odd college question. LOL. I LOVE how he makes it clear that what you see on screen and magazines is not him, just an image.

He still amazes me, today, all these years later. He was not only extraordinarily handsome, but he was also very charming, intelligent, kind, talented and wise beyond his years. Such a tragedy and a waste of a beautiful life.

Honestly...they broke the mold of Jon Erik Hexum. People like him barely exist today, never mind celebrities. The man was painfully good looking but what shines so brightly are his intelligence, pragmatism and refreshing humility. The latter characteristic amplifies his beauty exponentially.

I don't believe an intelligent person would put a gun up to his head and pull the trigger. Blanks, bullets, nothing, it doesn't matter. It's not safe or smart. But his life was not a waste. His donated organs helped save and extend the lives of five ill deserving people. ❤

@@tj.espygil4544 That's a bit harsh. He was 26 and full of testosterone. When you're that young as a man you feel immortal and take some stupid risks every now and then. Just because he did not realize the riskiness of pulling the trigger on a prop gun does not mean he's unintelligent. It's not an intelligent act but intelligent people commit unintelligent acts sometimes.

It's interesting that you rarely see the equivalent from women. When's the last time we met a starlet who was known for her beauty and grace who didn't sleep her way to fame or was well known for being difficult behind the scenes or sleeping with married or taken men? In fact when you think about Hollywood's top most famous and beautiful women they all have a lot of baggage and drama behind them. I like Aishwarya Rai she could come close to being the female equivalent to Jon in class and intelligence and maybe even beauty her look and personality definitely stands out not just in her country but all over. But she's a Bollywood star not a Hollywood star.
Maybe Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly had some of the X factor Jon had. He was simply unforgettable.

  • @eatplaylaugh3019

I'm telling you this man was NOT normal! He had EVERYTHING a woman wants. Such beauty, class, humility, and such impeccable manners. He also had this gentleness and sweetness to him that was so fragile, subtle and delicate. I honestly can see why he's not with us anymore. Beautiful people like him it seems to me only come around every few centuries and only stay with us for a short time. Jon had such a flawess public image when it came to how he treated people. I saw part of a documentary about him and they interviewed people who knew him and they all said the same thing he was just so kind, dedicated, humble and honest. I would like to know more about his upbringing and past how did his parents raise him to be such a exceptional human being? Are they still alive? And does he have siblings? I hope he had a brother! I've seen Jons high school pictures it's amazing that even he also had an awkward stage although it was benign compared to the rest of us and he eventually grew into his looks and became the gorgeous creature we see here.

Actors are not like him anymore. They're not too many out there. They don't make waves or juicy gossip so the media considers them 'boring.' Yes, Jon-Erik had 1 older brother named Gunnar ( about 3 years older) who is still alive. But he's very, very private and doesn't tend to get involved with any fan groups. Unless he'd felt they spread lies or misinformation.
He did however, speak a bit in 1984 after Jon died an interview on YT - The West 57th interview around 4 minutes in. czcams.com/video/9q2Qxp6k6eU/video.html
Their father was a deadbeat dad, and sadly, their mother, whom Jon-Erik was very close to and brought a house in California, died of breast cancer in 1988. She helped manage his career too.
You can find out all about Jon-Erik's early life on the websites - pdhexum.tripod.com/, and tenaflyguy.com and I have some info and articles on my website - voyagersguidebook.net

@@Voyagersguidebook Thank you for the links. They were very interesting. It was emotional watching the video about who got his heart and his brothers reaction. A former pimp received his heart, his most precious organ. That was shocking to hear. But it seems like he was very grateful and impacted by the gesture, even making some healthy lifestyle changes to show it. I found him to be sincere even if he made some unfortunate choices later on. I understand his brothers choice not to want to meet any of the receipents. Being as close as they were if I was him I couldn't imagine looking into the eyes of someone who had my brothers eyes or heart. It would be too much. He himself has also helped numerous people through his business and organization. They seem like a lovely sweet family. A tragedy all around.

@@Voyagersguidebook The websites were really helpful. Tenafly is very funny. Their little commentaries are similar to my own thoughts. My favorite post is the one about his fake kidnapping story in high school. Who wouldn't want to kidnap him? it seems like he had a good time. Outgoing and active throughout HS and college. Good for him that he made the most he could've out of his last years and made lasting impressions and had deep relationships. He was very hardworking and motivated. My favorite quote was when said he tries to make people feel important and asks them about themselves if he senses they might feel insecure around him because of his looks. That's very considerate and big of him to do. But I was a bit disappointed reading that he said he doesn't believe men should should pay for dates just because they're men. But I can let that one slide a bit because he didn't have a father figure in his life growing up and also taking into account how society was changing back then and even before that more men were and are holding this view. It was also disappointing to read that he let the studio pin up the naked pictures he received from fan mail. A true gentleman would've discarded those elicit pictures and tried to protect the chastity of those women even if they don't care to themselves. And I recall correctly he avoided answering whether or not he ever cheated when he appeared on "Just The Men" but I understand no one is perfect. Many men, even ones we may be close to and think highly of are guilty of things like these even if we don't want to admit it.

@@eatplaylaugh3019 I don't even remember that cheating question from Just Men. But it's been years since I've seen it. It's no surprise he went into acting. Glad you enjoyed the links!

@Merseyrock Interesting point, i had to rewatch it. Don't they do it on Late Night talk shows-while the actor is still sitting there, they introduce someone? I could be wrong. Maybe he was just being nice to 'Brian Kerwin' by claiming he's handsome too. lol. Oh, he made sure to say, 'Handsome and talented!' in front of the guest. Why the F did anchors keep on dissing the “male hunk image” like it was a bad thing. What the heck? It’s what Hollywood is all about, and if he is talented and speaks well, who the hell cares if there’s a “male model” image on top of it.

    • @Voyagersguidebook
      @Voyagersguidebook  Před 10 měsíci

I totally agree. It always irritates me how they spoke condescendingly to him. Most of these 80s talk show hosts were the same. They talked down to you. And All they cared about was 'The Hunk image.' Jon-Erik had a lot more he could've talked about. 1983 was actually deemed "The Year of the Hunk" in Hollywood, and he made it on that list, so it seems like he spent the whole year having to discuss that.

  • @eatplaylaugh3019

I'm sorry but there's literally NO OTHER man in Hollywood in today's age that could compare to Jon. Henry Cavill has his build but he plays World of Warcraft, Timothlee Challett is Skinnier than most women and he looks like he is still in puberty.
Noah Centineo has no chin and is too cookie cutter and basic in his personality to compare to Jon. Today's men are so immature and unmanly.
I know what draws us to him are his looks and voice but what truly captivates us are his mannerisms, grace, and intelligence. His beauty was truly umatched in his day. Men will unfortunately continue to go down in caliber as time goes on.
Hugh Jackman I think might be the closest to Jon in terms of his character. He's genuine, mature, humble and grounded.

4 40 on... It would seem awkward, from today's perspective - where we take for granted the non-interviewing reporter that introduces the interviewer/interviewee - how, in this interview, the same reporter that interviews Hexum, is the same one that moves on to introduce with accolades another actor - who is not in the room - in front of his guest, as he finishes his coffee. It comes across as an interview faux pas. It's good that interview protocols have evolved away from this practice.
