Yearbook - Tally Hall (written by Rob Cantor) from the album Pingry E.P. Please check out this band's current album Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum.
Fun fact: This song was originally from ListedBlack, Rob's band when he was in high school. The band also included Zubin, who played the drums. This version is from The Pingry EP, which was released in April 2005.
A picture in the yearbook staring me down All year with this "more than infatuation" I can't touch her, and I hear her voice to me It calls, and all my bravery Falls grounding by the thought of it all I look in the yearbook chasing me, in my head I'm mistaken I am making her more than a person could've been But I believe in my own lies, instead of pain it's anger I feel Because I made it unreal in my head Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, o-oh [Chorus] She is real, I am crushed Lost up here, lost in a rush, oh, oh Details are killing me, and I am torn away From all the little things she'd say [Verse 2] Picture in a nice frame Real nice firewood now More than contentment I could wish I understood now why I'm stuck here in this place I can't bail away She can see it, now I'm scarred No matter what I say Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, o-oh Chorus] She is real, I am crushed Lost up here, lost in a rush, oh, oh Details are killing me, and I am torn away From all the little things she'd say [Bridge] All the idiosyncrasies are what everyone can not see Should've never succeeded this far All the idiosyncrasies are what drive me You were just distorted and scarred, yeah [Chorus] She is real, I am crushed Lost up here, lost in a rush, oh, oh Details are killing me, and I am torn away From all the little things she'd say
@@michaelcaboose9604 Got a feeling it's something to do with it sounding compressed and only playing through mono. Reminiscent of an old, shallow speaker, could be that of a cheap old radio, poorly aged tv or a shoddy pair of headphones.
I don't know why but it seems like a representation of songs from the 2000's in my opinion. It's about romantic themes, it uses acoustic and electric guitars and to finish with an old radio effect in the voice.
+Black Picture I've been to hell and back, but I haven't even dug into the deepest corners. Kudos to you for keeping my trail. I love TH, my favorite band.
That's rude I will support your honorable efforts, find all the obscure songs from an obscure kinda broken up band. Best wishes find good songs. (why not put your cooler finds on this comment chain?)
+That's rude It had 9, 1. The Bidding 2. Taken For A Ride (acoustic) 3. Be Born (acoustic) 4. The Whole World And You (acoustic) 5. All Of My Friends (acoustic) 6. Interrupted Good Day (Live) 7. Yearbook 8 Just A Friend (Live) 9. Cell Phone Call (Live) I own it sooooooooooooooo
It is about a yearbook. Lmao idk, my guess is about the narrator reminiscing/fantasizing about someone they knew distantly, adding things onto her character that might not have actually been. That and some other vaguely romantic lyrics lol

Even though it was released in 2005, it was their first recording before Party Boobytrap EP, in 2003
zubin….on drums…?
@@Punzil0-0this is why he has a disdain for drummers
he was once one as well
“I am making her more than a person could’ve been”
AAAAAH WHY ARE ALL OF ROB’S LYRICS SO RELATABLE
A picture in the yearbook staring me down
All year with this "more than infatuation"
I can't touch her, and I hear her voice to me
It calls, and all my bravery
Falls grounding by the thought of it all
I look in the yearbook chasing me, in my head I'm mistaken
I am making her more than a person could've been
But I believe in my own lies, instead of pain it's anger I feel
Because I made it unreal in my head
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, o-oh
[Chorus]
She is real, I am crushed
Lost up here, lost in a rush, oh, oh
Details are killing me, and I am torn away
From all the little things she'd say
[Verse 2]
Picture in a nice frame
Real nice firewood now
More than contentment
I could wish I understood now why
I'm stuck here in this place
I can't bail away
She can see it, now I'm scarred
No matter what I say
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, o-oh
Chorus]
She is real, I am crushed
Lost up here, lost in a rush, oh, oh
Details are killing me, and I am torn away
From all the little things she'd say
[Bridge]
All the idiosyncrasies are what everyone can not see
Should've never succeeded this far
All the idiosyncrasies are what drive me
You were just distorted and scarred, yeah
[Chorus]
She is real, I am crushed
Lost up here, lost in a rush, oh, oh
Details are killing me, and I am torn away
From all the little things she'd say
the beginning gives me major deja vu tho
Me too what's that about-
Rob was in another band called ListedBlack maybe you heard their original version of this song?
