    One of the better sbc 350 timing videos on CZcams.
    Thank you.

    I know this is old video but for a stock 350 with headers what is the target for rpm on this engine, i rebuilt the edelbrock carb and having some issues with slow start at 8 with timing and in stop lights having some bounce in the engine that make me press the brake a bit harder cause it feels like it want to move foward with that bounce with barely noticeable vibration or like spurting at take off and goes away quickly,none of this was there before the carb rebuild, only rebuild it because the accelerator pump seemed bad and upon rebuilt i noticed there was no weight or spring where the ball bearing was,thanks for the video

    Just purchased my dream 1979 corvette with a 350 chevy small block and i have been trying to find videos how to fix my own issues. anyways, thank you man! to the point and simple. one question, how do you turn the distributor for the timing? *sorry if its a dumb question

    • @reyracer
      @reyracer  Před rokem

      @mycelliumforall619 you turn the distributor counter clockwise to advance and clockwise to retard. Do not loosen it too much, just enough to turn it with a little force.

    Hello Rey! New susbscriber here. I have a 1980 Chevy 350, the smog kit was deleted. Engine has an aftermarket manifold (Weiand Stealth) I have no history on the vehicle whatsoever. Bought a new Edelbrock 1406 Carb. I have not changed sparks, dist, or wires-they all look like they are in good condition. I have watched a handful of your videos, great content -have any tip on getting this thing running smoothly? it has about 136,000 on the odo could be more it reads only 36000- so not sure if it is 136,000 or 236000. I think its 136000, vehicle is in good shape. I would love to hear back thank you!

    i got 1990 k5 blazer 5.7 had it rebuild with a few up grades everything is pretty mush stock i up graded the cam to a howard cam rattler lift 225/230 duration 0.50/227/235 centerline 03 i still have the factory swirl port heads i got headers 3' pipes all the way back i up graded my torque converter to 2000 to 2400 stall and 4:10 gears i just put my engine in about a week ago it was a tbi so i converted it to carb...im having problem trying to get it to run right i put a brandnew edelbrock carb 1406 on it..i got 12-887 holley regulator set it to 6 psi i got it to run starts up good but its backfiring and popping out my exhaust ..i have a vacuum port on my regulator but did not hook it up dont no if thats the problem or not..or is the carb to small for my set up...you can smell the burning and the raw gas in park when u accelerate and give it more gas it sound good but at idling its popping and backfiring like someome popping fire crackers..tell me what you think.....

      The Doberman gang, what compression do you have, did you break in the cam for 20 minutes and 2500rpm if it's a flat tappet cam, how did you adjust the valves, do you have the recommended spring pressure on the heads for the cam?

    I see alot of people who have issues timing when there are no marks or the timing tab broke off. Also with carbs setting up the correct jets is alot harder to do than setting the idle. I see more people struggle with that.

      Ok thanks, I will get a video on jetting the carb.

    Hey . I'm in the market for a new motor for my 1977 gmc high sierra. 5.7 I may just get one from autozone. What should I expect to pay to have this done / carb and timing.?? New Edelbrock carb 4 Barrel performer 2.

      @michaelrobinson8298 you can reach me at my Facebook Reys engines, my photo is a supercharged small block and a 1955 Belair. If you are looking for a stock engine and the cheapest route, yes AutoZone is your place. I am currently building a stroker 383 with fully ported heads.

    Nice video!
    I have a 350 sbc and it has a performance Edelbrock intake with Holley 600cfm carb and it’s smell row gas a lot when start and while it’s idle so I been adjusting the mix screws and timing but still the same. What you recommend me to do?
    Ty.

      Do you have a fuel pressure regulator? If so is it set at 6 to 6 1/2 psi? Have you set the floats on the carb? If they are not set correctly, you will have too much fuel in the carb.
