Untold stories : Pakistani and Malaysian army played an important role in rescuing American army at that time.. Not many people know about this
Well, the Pakistani part isn't really unknown, it is in the film where the American general is asking and then getting Pakistani UN contigent to help evacuate the US forces. What is unknown is the Malaysian forces.
They literally show it in the movie.
But the Pakistani army withdrew at the end because they gave the excuse that they did not have night vision, only the Malaysian army continued to advance in the rescue operation even though they actually did not have night vision.

@@tylerjohnson3728, a lot was altered to have characters throughout the movie, and as a compromise to get military co-operation.
However, the real untold story was, on the night of Oct 3, 1993, 27 years ago, 114 Malaysian soldiers had put their lives at risk via a dangerous rescue mission, urgently requested by and carried out with US Rangers and Delta Force commandos on the orders of United Nations Operations in Somalia (Unosom II). The operation left many, including heroic Malaysian Armoured Personnel Carrier vehicle driver Private Mat Aznan Awang, shot dead and nine other Malaysian mechanised troopers injured. Despite the bravery of the 19th Royal Malay Regiment's mechanised troops, their efforts were unrecognised and underplayed in the international media, making it seem like the battalion played an insignificant role in the rescue mission.

This movie was the first war film i have seen in theaters and it remains one the most impressive and best movie of Ridley Scott.
yes I can not believe that this film is over 15 years old.
Agreed, it felt like I was watching a zombie or alien survival movie - same tension. Aliens tier editing for sure
22 years ago and still better than most of today movies which is crazy.
The real hero were Malaysian Army who saved them. Real story.
Indeed.
Everybody knows the story of the 2 delta snipers that heroically gave their lives to save the downed helicopter crew, but almost nobody knows about the 3rd sniper. Brad Halling was going to be inserted with them, but the crew chief of the helicopter they were on got wounded and Brad got on the minigun to provide cover. Brad ended up taking a direct hit from an RPG which immediately severed his leg, but he survived. I have no idea why, but Brad wasn't featured in the movie at all, and it is really hard to dig up all the facts of his story.
There's something called "life rights" in Hollywood. You cant portray a real life person in a film without their permission. Odds are, with that day being very traumatic (the two other Delta snipers being killed and dragged through the streets on top of loosing his leg) its understandable if he chose not to participate in the films production. Once a person has "passed away" they no longer have life rights which is why so many movies arcade about famous people AFTER their deaths (Jonny cash walk the line, Neil Armstrong in first man, Desmond doss in hacksaw ridge, ect)
A Navy Seal sniper team was imbedded with the Delta sniper element also - no mention of them either (good book by Howard Wasdin “Seal Team Six” which chronicles the Battle of Mogadishu and their involvement, among others)

What I heard was the Pak Army, but it was a UN Peace mission. And don't forget this was a Hollywood movie. What they (Americans) can't do in the field, they do it on the screen.
As horrific as this movie is, going by the accounts of veterans who were there that day in Mogadishu, it was even worse in real life. A lot of the more grisly details of the battle were altered or removed from the film entirely in order to make it more suitable for audiences.
The real hero in black hawk down was Malaysian army who rescue American elite army.. even Farra aidi said don't u touch malayan tiger

Just watched this on Netflix, and half way through thought I would read up on what actually happened, as opposed to the Hollywood version of events, it was actually the Pakistani and Malaysian troops who rescued them and got them out of there, not a mention of them in the movie, naturally the Pakistanis and Malaysian's were pretty pissed when they seen the movie.
They were mentioned at the end. Stop spreading false info. And this movie is about the battle of mogadishu. Doesn't matter if the malaysians were mentioned or not. It's about the rangers and delta men. Last thing, the rescue mission is a collective effort from US, UN, Pakistan and Malaysia. If you watched the movie, you would know that some of the delta men came back twice to save their brothers.
