► Game Description
Warframe is a free-to-play action role-playing third-person shooter multiplayer online game developed and published by Digital Extremes. - Hry
This part of the quest made me cry so hard, i never actually cried for anyone/anything in any video game or movie because it never really connected with me on such a personal level. Umbra's story resonates with me and reminds me a bit of my own life. Not the whole being turned into a warframe thing. but the fact that i always remember the worst moments from my life and they play in my head on repeat. When i saw him trembling on his knees under that tree i couldnt hold back my tears.
Appreciate you sharing that. Hope your doing okay ❤️
The thing with warframe that no other game is like this
Every game you play as a super strong main character throughout all
Warframe you play as super strong main character from the outside
But inside they are very very weak we all can relate to it. We all are weak we want to be someone or something else. This is what tenno are, they can become anything (become warframe)
That's why the world's energy resonates inside of you. You're alive, with a proper lvl of EQ. Be proud of it. And protect it🔥🖤
Bro is a Tenno???
this one's for you dreamers.
"We gave them quite literally some of the most unpleasant experiences ever to be concocted by a living mind. We still don't get why they rebelled."
More like "we don't get how they managed to rebel"
@@emiliobatres9581 Both are equally stupid thoughts because either way they gave God-like powers to teenagers. They were gonna go through a rebellious phase one way or another.
@@eaglehood224 They hated the frames because they couldn't control it; much how Ballas rages that the tenno themselves won't surrender and bow during the New War, they couldn't control the broken minds originally in the warframes.
As for the Tenno themselves, they were hated because their powers and immortality were completely alien to the Orokin, tainted by the Void and also beyond their control. The Orokin were cruel, imperial, and opulent, but they above all *had* to be in control for their own demented desires.
@@calebadam2576 I mentioned that in my own meme-ish way, yes.
I think the reason is because the torture they were subject to was supposed undoubtedly break them leaving control over them absolute. So when he asks "why would they?" It's more so kind of "what is the point?".
The voice actor for Ballas is spectacular
Itu. Love the voice acting.
100% agree. His performance is _fantastic._ The writing on its own is already good, but the performance of Ballas _really_ sells how much the player should loathe him as a person. Doubly so in New War.
Bravo for such an excellent example of why not every villain needs to be sympathetic. Sometimes the best villain is one you're supposed to hate with all of your being, and Ballas' writing and VO achieves that goal masterfully.
When I first heard ballas, I was like "Is that the guy from Superliminal" and I searched it up and it's the same voice actor!
Almost all the voice acting in this game is incredible. It's a free to play game, yet some of the lines rival Dark Souls 3, Mass Effect 2, and Halo; for me at least.
My brothers in the Void, I will never feel bad for genociding the Orokin.
I only feel bad it wasn't more painful for them.
I feel bad because they had the most spectacular archtecture i have ever seen
They were still shit though
i only wish we could have participated in it more outside of the 3 questline boss fights....
@@thefinalboss7543 Some of the most imperialistic and fascist empires had the best drip.
i cant remeber doing it, but damn it must had felt great, im proud of myself.
Tenno:*Shows compassion, sympathy and empathy*
Warframes: *genocides the orokin on the Tenno's behalf*
Warframes: "you know I kinda understand what you mean, yeah screw those gilded stinkies"
Imagine how far gone the Orokin are that they just described Empathy, and they view is as something as so inconcievable and bizzare that they don't understand how it works.
It's surprisingly easy to go there as real people though, anyone in the right circumstance
The Orokin thought themselves gods . . . did you notice their attire, dressed like Roman social elites. They thought themselves masters, only to be brought low by their creations.
@@ScornedOne1080 they also turned their skin gray like statues
@@gamertwo6263 blue* their skin is blue
@@SkeithSheep oh yeah, they do look kinda blue, but you gotta admit that they look like stone
No wonder the Warframes and Tenno got along with each other. Both were suffered under Balas, and both found peace and solitude with each other. The Tenno calms the nightmares and terrors of the Warframes, while the Warframes protects the Tenno from harm and act as their surrogate bodies.
I'll always hate ballas, but his his characterization is soo good that you just have to love it
He good at narration I'll give him that.
Yeah I hate him too. Pure catharsis when we stabb him with the skiajati. Then lotus finally finishing the job.
Love hate relationship
Like Handsome Jack
Perhaps the most evil Orokin, and the first to recognize lack of compassion was their failing.
He then proceeded to double, triple, and quadruple down on the: "My way, or the highway", policy, because recognizing you are wrong unfortunately does not always mean wanting to change to be right.
I love how ballas talks about stuff we wouldn't be able to fully understand until a couple years later with the new quests, that feeling, God i love it
What do you mean ?
@@orsaz924 the story came out in chunks and not one big package.
an it’s still being written too
@@draconisthewyvern3664 That's true and it makes sense
DE is the only company i know that can turn a relatively simple 'get a new character' quest into a primary source of information into the backstory of one of the key elements of warframe
the funny thing is, excal umbra was supposed to be the chinese version of excal prime.
when their contract for exclusive umbra was up, DE decided to give everyone for free, but in warframe style, they made it into a story quest
@@KoeSeerNever forget we waited YEARS for it though. It was just one of those things people bugged Steve about all the time like universal vacuum. Umbra getting here with a quest was a long and arduous process. Probably lots of script rewriting.
Balas' words regarding our relationship to our Warframes is spot on. We take something ugly and/or unfit to do what we want it to do, and with time make it blossom into something we can love.
proof that fashion frame is endgame
@@RingdaldI refuse to believe that 🤣
if Ballas only knew how much trade chat interactions I endure and platinum I spend on my "ugly, broken things"
Fashion frame is canon lmao
Operator: “It’s drip or drown Umbra and I’m offering you an all expenses paid cruise 😎.”
Excalibur Umbra: “Damn, for real? Yeah let’s roll.”
Orokin be jelly that the Tenno actually have compassion and empathy for the Warframes. Warframes sided with the Tenno because they understood their pain.
The Warframes didn't side with anyone - except for Umbra they don't have a conscience.
The Tenno have "Transference" via the "Somatic Link" hence they are the only beings able to control the Frames. This ability however comes from the Void incident with the Zariman and research from Margulis. The Frames didn't decide anything about it.
@@dragoncaos7098 The prime frames were people and they did side with the Tenno, the primes were always calm when the Tenno were around but when Tenno weren't around them they'd go crazy
@@The-No-one "The Prime Warframes and Prime Weapons were the original designs made for the Tenno during the Orokin Era, forming an elite Vanguard of the most powerful and dangerous warriors of the Origin System"
That is what the Wiki says, please tell me where I find something about living prime frames or them being people. It has been long since I played the quests, but I don't recall anything about Primes being alive.
@@dragoncaos7098 The primes were people it's said in the sacrifice quest where Ballas says "We took our best volunteers and not and exposed them to the infestation, their skin soon turned to steel" that means he exposed the best dax's to the infestation
I think the "best" evidence of the primes having their own conciusnes is in the old prime descriptions in the codex like rhino prime for example
The Tenno's ability to control the warframes wasn't because they were special. Of course, Transference is necessary to control them, but the Orokin were more than capable of replicating it with technology.
No, what made the Tenno special was that they had something that the Orokin elite lacked - empathy. They showed kindness in a culture that had completely forgotten what kindness was.
You can see, by how people like Ballas speak of the Tenno, how _alien_ of a concept this is to them. How can someone be so kind to such a broken, biomechanical monster?
When the Warframes, when they were all autonomous like Umbra, went 'mad', that was not madness, it was rebellion. An act of lashing out against their abusers.
It really hits home when you play New War and realize how much of an abusive piece of _shit_ Ballas is - and that he was the _norm_ for the Orokin. He had Margulis killed because she found people other than him to love and be loved by - the Tenno. How he speaks to Lotus, whom he sees as nothing more than a replacement for who he wanted Margulis to be, during the final confrontation of New War shows how he is willing to emotionally abuse anyone and everyone around him to get his way. He is a textbook narcissistic abuser taken to its logical endpoint when given practical immortality and access to any level of power.
And with all of that, Ballas is - at _worst_ - seen by other Orokin as _only_ a bit more cutthroat than normal.
And also a psychological breakdown due to all they had went through
From what I assume
smiles from juran playing over this is such an absolutely beautiful moment, “…to take away its pain.” goosebumps EVERY time
The idea that empathy and compassion is foreign to Ballas makes a lot of sense
Feel like with them continuously performing the Yuvan ceremony their humanity slowly degraded.
@@WildFenrir or you have to lack it in the first place
The orokin deserved every punishment they got
*More.*
So does that mean that all original warframes had lives before then and were tortured, and the children of the zairman who were also traumatized, all found some kind of a trauma buddy?
Excuse me while I go cry...
Spoilers. It is implied the SOP warframes you use in canon are created from quickly cloning an original with the necessary elements the recreate it on a budget, but the "blueprint" component is essentially DNA and assembly instructions.
However, in this quest they elaborate that the prime original warframes were essentially Dax soldiers, heroes, and verterans who fought the sentients until they were too broken to act as soldiers for their Orokin kings, who fancied themselves gods. Ballas, therefore came up with another idea; take those nearly dead men, and infect them with a special variant of the i festation, which they were already us8ng t9 fight to limited effect, this variant would take what was left of these dying, broken soldiers, and remake them into his ultimate weapons.
Unfortunately these monsters were still in pain, and too angry and hurt to control. It was only later that a certain Archimedian would consider taking children who had literally been dipped in hell and bind them together. This is what you are. Wake up, Tenno.
@@kardullaif by certain archimedean you mean Margulis then you are kinda incorrect, she invented transference therapy only as a therapy for them. I'm not sure but this could happen before the old war. Only later, when Margulis was already killed Ballas perverted transference therapy to be a tool to complement warframes
@yaroslavlappo1030 the timeline is a bit muddled still, the general timeline, as I'm aware is...
Zariman incident
Margulis forces the children to sleep
Margulis invents transference as a therapy tool to allow the children to dream, and live outside of their pods, although by what means is unknown, all that has been revealed thus far are warframes, and the older Necramechs, though what war they were fighting if not the sentient war is yet to be revealed.
Sentient war
Ballas, in a last ditch effort uses transference to harness the children.
Unfortunately the timeline is a bit muddled yet. One of those things I would do with a million dollars is make a warframe anthology series like The Animatrix to flesh out the Canon of the universe.
@yaroslavlappo1030 he's not referring to margulis, playthrough whisper in the walls
Trauma bonding is best bonding. Ask the other guy in the ambulance I drive.
The Orokin were so lost in their supposed superiority that the very idea of love and empathy is alien to them. That's all it ever was for the Tenno and the Warframes.
This just isn't the same without the music broo
Idek why it was so low in this scene.
This scene was sad but nothing jerks my tears harder than Sevagoths quest. Every time that song ends and your frame wakes up and realizes Shadow saved them I get hella chills. D.E. put their heart and soul into this game, they may have a few issues here and there with programming, but overall they're the best example of what a good dev studio can do for their player base. The best part is you can get all of this for free, say what you want about the pay-to-progress aspects, that money helps them continue development, and the only thing you really need is the new war pack and you can play the entire game. Otherwise you can be a hardcore grind player like most people and just grind mods and resources with a squad.
The Orokin didn't really hate warframes, but the Tenno operating them.
Ballas treats his creations like art, because that is what they are to him.
The Tenno they call devils, however, because they manipulate what they venered.
They call the Tenno devils because they survived the void and came out with powers. The Orokin call the void, hell
@@The-No-oneI wonder why they do.
@@East_Coast_Toasty_Boy They call the void, hell because it sends you insane as well as containing a dangerous being that manipulates you.
Man that come back later down the line in the Kalymos Sequence quest is just chef’s kiss
Warframe has such good storytelling bro its insane, all for the low price of your time and patience to build yourself up to the quests
One of the only reasons why i actually will sit there and grind and play 24/7 when i have time to 😂 other games just dont sit right with me besides warframe
Among this storytelling we have Duviri 💀
One of my favorite quests in Warframe
Compared to New War, Sacrifice has god tier writing.
So does new war, but sacrifice had yet another level on top of it
@@celphalonred1999 Nah. New War made Sentients look stupid, Ballas was a terrible villain compared to his previous appearances, Tenno was useless in the quest, Drifter took his spot and the 3rd act was rushed. It felt like fan fiction at times.
@@wolfofwarframe3807new war just had a weird focus. It's supposed to be a war against the sentients, but you don't fight a single important sentient. Quite the opposite, all of them(Hunhow, Errah and Natah) end up helping you. The only important character you fight is Ballas, who's the actual villain for some reason. Like, the whole catalyst for the new war was that The Lotus betrayed you and ran off with Ballas, but then the quest is about saving her from him??? Why??? She should have been the villain
@@josequiles7430I agree.
By the description of The New War, I thought the final confrontation would be against Natah.
But then it went all weird, even before Act I of the quest ended.
The whole story and lore of warframe is so deep and intense to think about. I mean we basically tamed. Warframe gone rampant by easing it's mind due to a shared pain our tenno understand from watching their loved ones all of them die on the zariman
Well sort of, there were three generations of warframes. The first generation was pretty tamed when the Tenno came into the picture , but still had the ability to operate on their own. The second generation was still sentient, but unable to operate without transference. And the third generation is what we make in game, which are basically just 3d copies of the original ones, and FULLY incapable of any sentience
The warframes were once alive, parasited prisoners who lost autonomy to the orokin of transference usage
But the tenno, they saw this, their powers collected what thoughts remained and stabilized them, made the warframes calm, a few were harder to control, inaros, revenant, and the umbra frames, but the tenno calmed them as well
Ive just finished this story this week and i must say
Seeing him grieving under the tree with the shawzin playing in the background broke me 😢
"We accept this memory and move beyond it's reach."
This quest was the epitome of Warframe's story. The one thing that nagged me though throughout was after you finish building Excalibur Umbra and as the camera pans around to the damaged chunk of it's head that starts repairing itself. When the scene in this short played and you enter proper transference with the frame, that's when the damage should have repaired itself. It would have been an excellent visual thematic cue for the player to show the two falling into harmony.
Yeah ngl, Second Dream and the Sacrifice will forever be in my heart, I should replay some again....
Theory in the umbra frames, I like to believe each Warframe has an umbra, and the umbras are the first iterations of said, warframe, (the first warframes) and the base are empty defective shells, copies of the primes and primes are perfect copies of the umbras w/o the personality of who was before the umbra.
Thats technically true. It was said somewhere that first frames were not connected like tenno now, but they were merged with their armor.
Anyway, nekramechs have corpse in them.
Love your videos, mate. The kinda try to "frame" the Warframe lore outputing mastery.
Well done!
Appreciate it. Trying to put the lore in digestible bits.
Umbras quest was my favorite quest line in the whole game
And then we never see umbra again. Lol
WDYM you literally have him as a playable warframe and he can fight by himself when you're outside of him.
Bro if you haven't seen umbra after he becomes a litteral playable character, that's on you
Then he slept through the entirety of the new war
Supposedly there is going to be more of umbra frames too
Edit: could be
@Langston Walker not really, that's on DE because you cannot get rid of him and he is given to you for free for completing the quest, so he should've gotten Umbra and have been able to play him. That's not a his mistake that's a DE mistake
There are worse fates than death.
And the soundtrack that goes with this scene makes it a thousand times better🔥
Why no music? it made this scene even better
God that song hits so hard
Mi Warframe favorito, Excalibur Umbra. Su pasado es tan triste.
"Warframe has no story"
The story:😭
Who even said that
@@MissShar youll be surprised to know how many ive seen saying that shit

The umbra quest is still my favorite to this day
My brother in void, the orokin had it coming
this quest will forever hold a special place in our hearts
i feel like war within then this quest shaped a lot of tenno to enjoy the game in a very new way
Anyone else sad that Umbra is the only sentient frame? I want to let my frames loose in the void so they can just kick some ass and ill be sippin a martini
Sevagoth is technically sentient as his shadow protects you whilst your unconscious, you don't control him
This moment hit hard ngl
You managed to really hit the nail on the head with both thats wild
Yet another example of how the bulk of Warframe's lore can be summed up as "Something happened, and then the Orokin were _massive_ assholes about it to everyone and everything."
To the Orokin, their warframes were just upgraded elite guards from when they were Dax. But as far as the Orokin are concerned, the Tenno, like everyone and everything else, solely exist to-be their slaves, or dead. The Tenno will not ever submit to Orokin rule again, plus the Orokin saw the Tenno as impure demons from the Void too, which the helminth in the back of our ship confirms that the Tenno are. And to Ballas, his creations are the warframes, his artwork.
So, the Infested swarm us for hugs?
When you are an Orokin who lived for milenia and you had all the time in existence to perfect your way of talk. We hate Ballas but DE did a damn good in making people love to listen him talk. Tho that "You BITCH!" to the Natah at the end of his life was not well though out, he is still such a good villain. Most people discredit DE's story telling and especialoy people who are outside of the game and gamers playing the worframe. To really experience the story you need to search and fine those little stories scattered around that give more colors to a past picture. Most people probably dent even know how we got that finger in the Railjack but there are us who know. Stories in fragments tell a lot of tails.
Literally brings me to tears every time
I like the sound in headphones bcs of its changes sound to left and right sides
the best line in any game ive ever played
I love how the tenno returned the pain the orokin gave the warframes umbra most of all
This is how my grandpa explains the civil rights movement at Thanksgiving
One of the best scenes in this game for sure.
Sacrifice, The Second Dream, The Duviri Paradox and The New War hold a deep place within me from the moment I played them.
There are honourable mentions like Veilbreaker and The War Within but those don’t hit as hard as the previously mentioned.
Umbra is one of my favorite frames in the game he looks so awesome and Excalibur can be fun to play but I have always brought him with me when doing the Ballas/namer quests it feels so right to do that
Always thought that the unwilling human subjects that got turned into warframes were actually the parents of the Tenno that went mad.
Maybe I’m wrong about that but it would be cool.
I know umbra’s story is different though. He was a Dax.
That would be posible... if it wasnt because the Tenno had to kill their own parents to protect themselves when the Zariman got stuck in the void.
We need more of Umbra in story quest
im so glad i dodged all the spoilers till i finishd the story xD it was too good i had no clue !
What I like about umbra is when you hop out of transference he’s the only frame to fight on his own
Some months after I finished his quest, I went out to the Plains to do some grinding...I forget what for.
Hopped out, and was getting some void beam kills, and over the course of several minutes realized that some of the enemies were dying on their own. More than that, they were Exploding.
That's when I turned around, and saw Umbra standing behind me with Zarr.
Best. Day. Ever.
The Orokin were slaughtered for a reason. Even the Stalker knew that.
When you create a weapon, you must treat it with respect lest that weapon turn against you, and boy did the Warframes turn against their masters for someone else.
Because they created us, a beast they cant control like Umbra, so powerfuls that they cant know our power
Sacrifice was peak warframe no contest
5 forma deep and my Warframe still putting up with my shit
Gotta replay this quest again.
Better 😐
Ngl I know the story now but when i did this mission i had no idea what was going on except the lotus went bye bye.
God i fucking live the sacrifice, i cried so hard at umbras backstory. I use umbra and only umbra as my frame. We are one
This part is my favorite in the whole story of warframe
The lack of background music hurts my head
Smiles from juran really makes the scene, it feels weird without it
Top 3 quests in the game hands down
One of the greatest Revelations of this game between the Tenno and the Warframe themselves.
I can be honest they should change the abilities of umbra and make it prime
They legally cant make him excal prime
really sad but it was possible there is the Umbra Prime variant chinese but it's gone
@@lordumbralwolf I heard he is worst
it's not worse it's just underrated but it's still a great frame has high stats unfortunately its a normal excalibur because we all have it basic
But the entire point is umbra is different, he is the first Warframe
Imagine showing this to a 16th century peasant
1999 may give us more answers to what are Warframes, a glance on how Necramechs were made and the Prototypes of frames, maybe it give Dark Sector connection to Warframe
I find it absolutely hilarious that they really thought basically treating the kids with superpowers like trash wasn’t a bad idea
Can somebody, ANYBODY, PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON EVERY SINGLE PART OF THE WARFRAME LORE I LOVE THE GAME TOO MUCH
I could be wrong because I never checked. But could swear there're content creators who have already. Correct me if I'm wrong tho.
@@WildFenrirsome guy made a 9 hour lore dump for his school project or smthn on youtube
The didn't hate the frames or the tenno; in most cases, they didn't even care about the people that were turned into frames much less hate them.
Remember, this is balus talking, about the faulty tools that he created and that he, HE, could not get to work. But the tenno, the tenno could.
As another poster pointed out, what balus cannot understand is that the tenno had empathy. Balus didn't care about the puppets that he'd created, only that they didn't work they way they should, or failed to work at times.
orokin were so posthuman that they forgot that empathy and love actually exist.
"why tenno could control warframe? must be something inside them"
Can privilege ever NOT breed arrogance and subsequent narrow-mindedness!
I just got 20 chills
While the warframes where rendered controlled by Tenno this was not the case for others who could transfer
The more Titania and that doctor transferred the more her health declined
Every time ballas try transference he could only communicate
But the tenno where able to link properly because they felt a similar pain stuck in the void
There consciousness where linked to a point they both thought they where the same after years of being stuck in a dream due to the odd way all warframes went offline
However it’s clear some where awoke before use
Like the warframes guarding the solar rails,
The special variants of warframes in the silver groves alter that wake up demending on the apothic
And sevagoth who was still flowing through his rail jack as a void ghost looking for his body
And of course no one had control over umbra seen as his transference bolt wasn’t on the same network to nullify warframes
The lua returned which somehow gives him strength
You're welcome 🎉❤
Man, sometimes I think Ballas is far dumber than he presents as being
Honestly there is such a... powerful feeling that came from the words. As someone who had their own "Zariman" experience there was a sense of like... finally having payoff to those years of suffering, that for at least I moment I could take away that pain from somebody else and it was all worth it in the end.
He's talking about the drifter but you wouldn't know that
What?
It’s called empathy ballas
So did ballad torture the Tenno or the pre warframe Dax?
Pre Warframe dax
Gods, I feel this on a spiritual level. The only two things that help with my mental illness (it’s so bad that I’ve been trying to get treated for it for over 13 years and just keep getting worse) and brain damage is my wife and drugs (yes narcotics lol.)
If I only had one and not the other, I would be dead already. My wife heals me and understands me, even during my violent and psychotic episodes where I black out. The substances help to keep me calm and feeling good enough to like not end it all lol. If my wife didn’t have such a great grasp of patience and empathy…
I’d rather not think about it much.
QQ Ballas u bulli!!!
What if we can torture Ballas endlessly
Can't wait to play this on Android
Everybody hated the Orokin, i wonder why they got all killed
I wonder if at some point the Warframes will revolt against the Tenno and take a life of their own. Like the Spectres.
Why do I hear Kurtzagart dubbing this?
best quest in warframe
Why do you have the music turned down????!?!?!?/
It wasn't purposefully trust me because I was wondering why can't I hear the music either.
and it was like that ....about MK Ultra in real world....Welcome Brothers
I saw the title and just went cause we fucking wiped them out what do you expect lol
Funny thing, but "ballas" means nutsack in my language, oddly fitting for his character
In my language it means testicle
My language is English
Ember prime lore entry kinda justify why the orokin feared the tenno so much, don't know if DE will make "true".
