the fit & finish on my daughter's 9mm 1911 Metro Arms (MAC Classic) is superb. that being said, we replaced all the fire control parts w/ EGW.

My first firearm more than 20 years ago was a Kimber Custom. IIRC, it was $600, maybe $700 at most. It's the "Series I" that doesn't have the firing pin safety. It came with a cheap mag that wasn't very reliable but feeding it with Wilson Combat mags has made the firearm very reliable. I too highly recommend those mags. They're a game changer in terms of making 1911's reliable. It was all steel with fixed all black sights. My vision has suffered some setbacks over the years (long story) so I have modified it with Tru-Glo 3 dot night sights that are easier for me to see. I wore out the original slide lock and replaced that with a Wilson Combat and I have since swapped out the extractor with one from Wilson Combat as well. Aside from that, it's original parts. Kimber sort of got the ball rolling on the custom quality out of the box trend but that was more than two decades ago. I'm not sure if their quality is at the same level today or not. Their products and 1911's in general aren't the big craze they used to be it seems.

Did you ever run hollow points through it? If so how did it go?

Just bought a shadow, after 20 years...I'm on the fence. Been watching vids and hear some questionable things about the shadow and kimber in general.
