- 2020 has been an unprecedented year, with uncertainty about racing me and my boyfriend Jim decided to take a break from all the madness in the world and go on a holiday to Scotland to cycle round the notorious NC500 route.
Over 10 days we saw amazing scenery, climbed the highest road in the UK, saw some cool wild life, enjoyed whisky and had a great time!
The Stats..
10 days
520 miles
8,860m elevation
42.5hr ride time
You can see the route for every day of the trip over on my strava here.. / strava
Don't forget to like this video and leave a comment if you enjoyed it! :)
Amazing video and thankyou for taking us along with you both ...👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you, what an epic journey, really enjoyed the commentary and the fantastic photography. Glad the weather was kind for you, congratulations!😊
Just watched this - so good to have the good natured and positive and gently humorous BC Vlog back - NC 500 definitely on the bucket list. Scottish Tourist Board should pay you for this brilliant advert.
What an adventure Beth. Wild swimming too in that beautiful clear sea. Thanks for sharing the excellent video.
Glad to have you back on YT. Lovely vid, thanks.
Great vlog. Thanks for letting us join you on your trip. Cheered me up! 😀👍
Great video Beth, thanks for sharing. Your bar bag rack is really neat, looks like it worked well!
Inspirational ride Beth & James, one for my bucket list ;-)
A fantastic trip, amazing... Well done to you both👍
Well done you two! What a great trip, and pretty good weather on the whole. I'd say you were very lucky. Very enjoyable vlog 😊
Epic journey, guys. Thanks for sharing 👍
Great little video. Well done both of you. Nicely filmed and put together too. Just watched after a very hilly and muddy Devon run this morning so feeling sympathy in the legs.
This video made me smile. Nothing more needs to be said. Thank you.
Awesome video great riding hope you both enjoyed the Scottish scenery 😀 I would to try that route one day if the old legs would take it. 🙏🙏
That handlebar bag mount is a stroke of bloody genius!
So nice! Awesome trip. Thank you.
Fantastic video, Scotland is such a beautiful place 😍😍
Enjoyed the video, well done to you both.on my bucketlist
I live in Edinburgh and have ridden, driven and walked the NC 500 in part over several years. Just might need to bike the lot in a oner now?!
Thanks for a great vlog to keep us all sane. 🥰
Great video, enjoyed watching.
The front bag holder is a great idea for smaller frame bikes and a good alternative to a porteur style rack. Need to make a few and flog them on EBay. 👍
Great video! However, the speech to music volume ratio needs adjusting. I could barely hear what was being said because I had to choose between a lower volume or go deaf from the loud music. The frame bag for a hydration bladder was an excellent idea especially with the tube coming off the handlebar.
i know im asking randomly but does anybody know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?
I somehow lost my login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Leonel Ahmir Instablaster ;)
@Joel Thiago I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Joel Thiago It worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Leonel Ahmir happy to help xD
You're awesome! And your bike and bags too! Dunno why but i like this video!!
Well done guys, great effort!!
Nice one - very enjoyable video. This has just become a new challenge for me. Thanks for sharing :)

great vid .. am going 2 do this in July and fin on my 60th birthday In August, if covid allows me :))
I've got this route on my wish list so it was good to watch your trip. B
Great video, well done to the both of you, good team work and plenty of good grub. Loved the response on entering scotland with bagpipe music. I am doing this on june 3rd 2022 over 7 days wild camping, self sufficient, cannot wait. Hope I get your weather, 🤞. Take care.
Thank you & i hope you enjoy your trip! 😄
That was an excellent vlog
Great video! I would love to do this ride one day!

@@BethCrumptonLHero you're welcome!! I just subscribed!!😁
Enjoyed that!
Chapeau both !
Hi just watched your vid great im looking at doing this tour alone 2022.great insight.AP))
Well done!!
Very nice trip and great video
Please what gears did you use Beth for this trip 40 on front and 11-42 rear?
And what model of bike Jim use?
Thank's for sharing
Happy new Year to you both !!
and happy rides !!!
38 front.. 11-42 back 👌🏻 Jim was on a Kona Rove 👍🏻 HNY🎉
Just subscribed.....enjoyed it big time
Great vlog. Can I ask what size tyres you used? My bike will only take 25mm max and I'm worried that many be too skinny.
I used my CX bike so i could ride on 35mm tyres and take my bags (my road bike was too small to be able to). There was plenty of people riding on road bikes tho with 25mm tyres with a bike pack bag set up😊
Thanks for this. Did you research your parking before you arrived?
Yes Mark. Using the Your Parking Space app 👍🏻
I'm sure you're familiar with GCN's ever-popular NC500 video but after seeing your video, I saw some things that I wish the GCN guys had put in their video. Beautiful film-making.
Thanks Ian! Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Hi, enjoyed the vlog just wondering if there was any problems with parking the van up for the 10 days
No problem at all. We used ‘Your Parking Space’ app and parked it in Inverness’s Morrisons Car park, affordable and plenty of space to distance from shoppers!
Hi Braeview carpark in Beauly is a large free car park, I parked for 6 days no problem. Great location to start and park as 15 mins from Inverness 👍
Great video, quick question did you guys just leave the van in Morrison’s car park for the duration?
Thanks! Yes we did, using the Your Parking app 😊
Brilliant, thanks Beth!
Nice, what kind of mudguards do you have on your bike?
?
Great film, I’m doing the NC on the 8th of May to avoid midges, weather looked great for you two, what was the date you started 🤔.
14th September.. we were very lucky! Enjoy the route, May should be good🤞🏻
@@BethCrumptonLHero thank you👍
Thank you for sharing, what an awesome adventure, loved the film. My and two friends are looking at doing this in July 2021. I loved the route you took, any =thing you would change if you did it again? Also, would you mind sharing the route? Many Thanks
I looked at your strava link but cannot see the routes....
They ate there, you’ll just have to scroll a bit further back as they’re all separate files 😅
1 thing we would change is to not carry so much food with us, there is plenty of shops to buy food en route. We packed food for 3 days and we could definitely have saved the weight by not doing so!
Hi Beth, Great video and echo all of the comments below. Could you tell me what your Dad made the rack from, it looks like 8-10mm Aluminium rod/tube and love the 'no fixing' idea. Thanks
It is passivated hydraulic pipe apparently! Your welcome to get in touch with him via John’s Bike Shed on facebook to ask him about it👍🏻
@@BethCrumptonLHero Thanks Beth, I will check it out
Hi Beth don't know if you're doing videos anymore but wondered if you could do a video on your 10 L handlebar bracket that your father made
Love Scotland
Great video. Any tips you can offer to someone who will be undertaking this route soon? 😃
Stop and take in the views😀 Stop at Lochinver’s pie shop, take the coastal road left before Lochinver not main road past Loch Assynt, it was my favourite bit of road (unofficial nc500 route). Make sure you go in the north sea at Sango Sands🤪
@@BethCrumptonLHero awesome, thanks so much 😊
cool
wait... how can you shifting if your handlebar bag that huge?
all in how you pack your bags! 😅
A SPARE CHAIN ! MY GOD. I did a 3350 mile tour in 2018 , a spare chain was not in my bags.
So jealous
Great video but had my finger on the volume button the whole time. Very loud music, very quiet dialogue. Otherwise very good.
Looking at the stats, you guys basically climbed Mt. Everest in under 2 days. That's mad.
But 4h15mn of ride time per day!
Una? Pool. That’s dim that is. You haven’t heard of Ulla Pool before have you?
UNApool is just before Kylesku. ULLAPool is on Loch Broom. Thanks 👍🏻
