Full disclosure, I did run into some QC issues when I received the Arrow. The lock nut had a metal slag ball right in the V-slot where the string rests. This caused the string to sit much higher than all the other strings. I cannot believe the QC guy that signed the guitar missed it. I actually had to use a dremel with cutting disk to carefully clean out of the channel so the string would sit flat. The string was damaged so I tossed them and installed new strings. Other than that, no further issues found.

Good review my friend..... I love that u do not pull no punches ..... if there is a F-ing issue u let us no.... I respect that 💯 % ......I am going to be honest with u my friend...... I am a beginner guitar player I no like just a few basic pieces of just a few songs..I am 38yrs old so back when I was 17 n was tinkering around with guitar I couldn't afford effects pedals & all the basic gear I needed to keep me interested enough to stick with learning the guitar.... now with all the effects & cab modelers pedals out now that I can get some cheap basic things to play into my daw in my computer I want to learn how to play now since I can get effect pedals to learn on for relatively cheap.... I am looking at either the Boss ME-70 ($105 used on reverb ) or the Boss ME-80 ( $199 used on reverb ) I no they have newer pedals now but these are a little older & looking at them they look rather well made & were probably rather good when they 1st came out. They are made from steel construction ( mostly) with a built in expression pedal . I think these would be a good place to start learning guitar with. As far as guitars go I have a 2010 Ibanez RG2EX2 white (looks nice) fixed bridge . I payed $150bucks for it. I did some research and decided since I'm a complete newbie I do not need to have a guitar with a floyd rose tremolo since it would just complicate the learning process for me at this stage in the game. I wanted to ask u do u think I am making a wise choice for a basic set up to learn guitar on . Boss makes great pedals ( as far as I no lol ) so I figured I'd get some good tones out of it & not over complicate things from the guitar to pedal to the computer and DAW also the boss pedals both have a looper &a metronome I believe. What do u think bro.... do u have any suggestions on the gear choices that I am considering going with? If u would change anything what ? Also what are some good strings I can run. As for music taste I like heavy brutal metal and the thrash metal leads from the 80s 90s all the way to the brutal metal of today all the good stuff for the last 40yrs thanks for ur time man sorry for the long message but I had to get ur opinion on this step I am planning on going with soon. I have the cash I am just waiting to hear what u think 1st so I don't buy something wrong u no.... thanks bro Also I am getting a audio interface to run my guitar to my computer . I'm thinking about getting the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd generation USB Audio interface its rated 5 stars & is $119 bucks on Sweetwater. I hear they are good for 1 guitar & 1 microphone & sound good in the DAW but what do u think ? Thanks man

I hate it when the volume knob is placed so close to the bridge. I always end up lowering the volume by accident when I pick the high strings and I pick with all my fingers tucked in. Can't imagine how in the way the knob must be for people who pick with their fingers extended.

I took the kill switch out of my Black Metal and put it there. Remember these are potentially "Stunt Guitars" So, if you want to do elephant, whale and dolphin tricks, the volume knob needs to be close enough to pick and roll at same time

    • @deadspeak1126

It's takes a little getting used to but like the other guy here said it is nice for swells. I don't have any problems now but when I first got it it was a little annoying. You can fold a small peice of paper and stick it under the knob between the guitar to stiffin up the know so it won't turn down if you brush against it.

I am very suprised at the quality control here from ESP. I have several other LTD1000s and the quality is phenomenal. it is a cool guitar and it is totally fine after the fixes but damn thats something i would expect on a 200 series, not on a Korean made 1200$ instrument from the reputable WMI factory

C'mon Arnold, it's not the EMG's that has the pickups a little chirpy, because EMG has like 40 different humbucking guitar pickups. The sound issue is the EMG 81, and to a lesser extent the EMG 85. If you went with any number of other EMG pickups, particularly the X preamp equipped pickups, even just going with the 81x and 85x, it would make a significant difference, and improvement, definitely, in the overall sound of the instrument

No definitely not. LTDs Specs are becoming INSANE, however the differences between LTD to ESP in terms of finish quality, neck shapes, body carving and quality control... are very much there. Its a step in the right direction for LTD as in the early 2000s LTD deluxe (1000 series) were sporting hardware even better than ESP did, so it seems its getting to that point again. Either way - SS frets, Ebony fingerboard, Floyd 1500 and emgs smacked onto a neckthrough V, its pretty hard to beat for the price!

@@ReubenGuitars totally agree. I purchased an E II FRX and the overall feel, finish and resonance are better than any LTDs I’ve ever used. That’s not saying the LTDs are bad either. They’re not, they’re excellent guitars but this E II has a completely different and more cohesive feel. Neck profile is perfect, the woods feel more dense, the Ebony on the fretboard is head and shoulders above the Ebony on my LTDs with very tight grain.

C'mon Arnold... "EMG's," is a term I'd expect from the 12 13 year old kid, or someone in their first year of playing and learning about guitars, but you've been around long enough, played enough instruments, I would think, to have tried quite a few of the pickups offered by EMG, most of which do not sound very similar to the 81/85 pickups, especially a lot of the newer sets, which have a very nice blend of passive and active sound and feel,

@@raytorvalds3699 no, I'm referring to the generalization that an EMG pickup can be defined, or rather its sound can be defined, with a blanket term, "EMG's." They make a wide variety of active, and passive, humbuckers and single coils, for guitars and basses, and produce a very wide variety of tones. My apologies for not making that clearer to you, or if my tone was crappy.

@@raytorvalds3699 about four years ago I replaced the factory-installed EMG PJ pickups on my primary 4-string Bass with an EMG PJ-X set and the BQC system,, and I was astounded at not only the difference in overall tone, but the huge variety of tones I can get out of that bass now.
On one of our current 6-string guitar builds, we weren't sure of what pickup set to put in, and using the EMG quick-connect wiring I was able to swap in and out between the 57-66, the Het Set, and the JR Daemonum set, and each set had a very different tone, different dynamics, different attack characteristics, and a noticeable difference in the Crunch and punch in the low mid and low end frequencies. Right now, the plan is to go with the Het Set, in black chrome, but that could change as that build is not yet sold and a buyer may want to opt for a different set. I also tried out the Nazgul sentient, and the black winter sets from Seymour Duncan and they had different characteristics also.
I have to say, that was one of the best afternoons of the current year, because not only did I get to play around with all of these pickups in the newly-built guitar, I also got to play catch with my eleven-year-old son and my nine-year-old daughter!

I ended up with a mediocre counterfeit lol.
*The only upside is the knock off EMG's that say EMG sound better than the real thing.* They aren't compressed and don't have the obvious low-pass cutoff point that EMG uses.
This thing, on the other hand, *sounds wicked.*
*Bear in mind, active pickups don't have to sound compressed whatsoever and I know because I'm a formally educated electrical engineer; just didn't finish the degree so dub me an "amateur" for posterity sake.*
The reason you get compression is the Class of active circuit used which I won't even try to understand why they do it other than the original designer wasn't well educated in engineering. *If done correctly, like my active modules, your pickups sound 100% passive except they are cranking out about 5-6 VAC! lol*
It's very easy and affordable to achieve this with actives, so I can only speculate as to why companies don't do it and that's likely because they just use an off the shelf schematic with very minor changes.
