Yes. This sounds like a step in the right direction to human evolution. We need to take our power back. We don't need to be reliant on THEM. We can create everything we need. Thank you Eric Harris-Braun, Arthur Brock, Jean Russell, Raymond and anyone else who is working on this technology. I would like to learn a lot more.

It's hard not to belive that we can make it seeing all this amazing projects around. Holo, Faircoop, CreditCommons and all the other experiences trying to create the tools that the real life, local, disperse, heterogeneous movements that the world needs are empowered. Solutions to the lack of time, mental weight, financial insecurity, and inneficiencies that will turn to be catalists for THE CHANGE that we, the human kind, in our collective intelligence, all begin to see clearer and clearer, around the corner.
Holochain has a very academic team who have a great product, if it gets adopted will change the internet, and Holochain is American and will be subject to stringent SEC regulations which gives security for investors..

I dunno what un-enclosable carriers means, but it sounds a lot like freedom!
Enclosable means that something is taken out of the public good and privatized. The common terms is enclosure of the commons. For example, Nestle taking public water supplies, aquifers, or lakes and "enclosing" them for their profit. People in poor countries now have to pay for privileged of a company making their water available to them. Of course, Nestle will justify this by saying that they are now making it safer to drink.
Right now most of the internet is "enclosable." You can be banned from Twitter, FB, or CZcams if they decide they don't like you for any reason.

No the biomimicry makes sense. I was talking about the “Burning the planet” drama and handwringing. By talking about how this is more “human” or human centric vs money centric etc. seems to me it’s too much like Google and their “Don’t be Evil”.
True peer to peer, without threat of censorship is a good thing but the sappy “deep structure of the world” stuff makes me more nervous about what their “deeper purpose” is. Again sounds a lot like the hippy leftist babble that in the end just ends up being another attempt at totalitarianism. I really hope I'm wrong. I am just more comfortable with people saying, “we want a way to be beyond the system because we like to do X and the system want’s control.” Than I am comfortable with, we’re altruistic, no really, trust us. Just remember, “Just say no” and “Don’t be Evil” and everything will be fine.
I really do hope that they get a system that can’t be locked down or policed to the point of living in a surveillance state, I just trust people who’s motives aren't dressed up in sappy sentimentalism.
Ah, okay, I understand where you're coming from, I think. I've been living in the permaculture design world long enough that all that natural systems language feels pretty normal to me :) I'm curious, though, about the connection you drew between hippie babble and totalitarianism -- are you talking about the moral authority that left-leaning people often claim?
I find it interesting that you picked up on a social control sort of message. To talk with these guys and read their articles, I get a very different reading. They have a lot in common with crypto-anarchists and crypto-libertarians, in the sense that they recognise that top-down structures and vast programmes are not going to make life any better for the majority of humanity. Where they part ways, I think, is that they recognise that laissez-faire deregulated capitalism isn't any better. The secret to success, in their eyes, is many redundant networks of cooperation among free agents, armed with the data insights that software can give us.
Laissez-faire isn't something we’ve seen since the 1700s in this country and maybe not even then. It is the regulations that will always be the catch. Regulators can always be bribed, or corrupted. Homeless problem could be solved easily with free market solutions, but regulators would rather see people out on the streets or in big government welfare projects that are riddled with crime and disincentives on all the paths out of them.
I think these guys are better than say a “If you like your doctor you can keep your Doctor” Obama or a “Compassionate conservationism” like a Bush. I think the problem I am seeing with it is there doesn’t seem to be much voice from the other side as these systems are being built so while everyone can use them they will probably be less effective than they could have been if true laissez-faire voice were heard. Everyone likes to talk about nature and I think we can learn a lot from it, but nature also has lions and tigers and bears oh my. Not to mention vultures and trillions of insects that live by feeding on that which doesn’t make it. If you ignore that side of the equation your ecosystem won’t work.
I got the hippie vibe as well, especially cause they used that music to show how peaceful/beautiful their project is.

I love the idea, but we'll still have to go through ISP's (i.e. centralization) to access the internet, holochain, etc. But this is definitely a step in the right direction!

I really like the project (preordered a holoport) but this video (featured on the holo hosts landing page) has the absolute opposite of the intended effect on me. And quite intense and emotionally stirring at that!
I guess for me it comes over kind of conceited as:
"Oh, we know it better than you, anything that is not natural is XXXX".
I guess that I may not be the only one having this reaction and it may be that a lot of people could be put off that otherwise could become valuable contributors. I mean more could be put off than maybe purposefully intended, since liking the artificial does not equate to not loving the natural.

Can Holochain be used to communicate with somebody with 0% chance that a third person can see the communication?
I'm no expert on the subject, but I believe an application could be built on top of holochain that could enable 100% private communication, yes.
Brooks Yardley is right; you could certainly build an app with messages that only your recipient can read. Public-key cryptography (the same cryptography that powers HTTPS, SSH, and a bunch of other services) is built into the system at a base level. All communications are also encrypted in transport, regardless of whether the message itself has been encrypted. There's more to it in than this, but the answer is yes, it's absolutely possible.

if holofuel pays for web hosting would it count as commodity money and therefore be halal like dinar and dirham?perhaps not.only as much as normal money is backed by houses..gold and silver is open to manipulation and the money supply cannot expand in line with productivity

is holochain the same as holo coin (HOT)
holochain is a distributed ledger system that holo apps run on. HOT is a standard token that will be swapped out for holofuel once it is past preliminary stages.holofuel is a holochain app currency that is already in use by holochain hosts and soon to be fully launched.holofuel is a Mutual Credit currency not bound by the constrictions of blocksize and transaction time of blockchain.holofuel has a damping mechanism that keeps it pegged to the price hosts charge for data storage, primarily intended to be used to pay for hosting but can be swapped between users for anything...correct me if i am wrong holo people.i like this project
