Well you can feel when your pushing the bike too hard,it will feel like your being pushed back but as soon as you feel that don't even let off the gas too shift just clutch and click and don't worry about it braaaap!

not sure what to get, I'm a big guy so I would prefer to have the torque of a 4 stroke (and I don't have to think about adding oil to the gas), but 2-strokes are cheaper and its a lot easier to change piston.
I'm more of a 4-stroke guy, 2-strokes are fast, but I've always preferred bikes and cars with a good amount of torque, and I've always been better at pushing the 4-strokes engines since I always feel like I'm killing the 2-strokes because of the high-pitch sound of a 2-stroke, so its not easy for me to push the bike enough. I'm basically faster with a 4-stroke.

get a two stroke if you are worried about torque get a 250 2s all you have to do is keep it on the pipe to really get the most torque. adding oil to the gas is really nothing to do, get a mixture cup and run a good synthetic make sure to run it between 32:1 to 50:1 depending how hard you are running the bike. fourstrokes are nice but are a lot more work and if you get a used one you can run into costly repairs, a two stroke you can buy used and not have to worry about that. also the high pitch of a two stroke is what you want, its no different then running a fourstroke hard. so get a two stroke youll love it

thanks, I thought about the possibility of installing a pipe that gives the two stroke a more even powerband, if its not too expensive though.
I really appreciate the help, and since 2-strokes are a lot cheaper (at least here in Norway) than 4-strokes its much easier to get a good 2-stroke bike within a budget.
Btw what I meant about the high pitch of a two stroke is that the two stroke has a much much higher pitch than a 4-stroke, at least the 85cc bikes, so its hard for me to know exactly how far I can push it, so I've usually ended up having too low rpm in the corners, but I guess that won't be a problem with a 250cc since it has a deeper sound than the smaller cc bikes and is a lot stronger than a 85cc. =)

there is a difference between running a two stroke wide open and too hard youll know when your running it too hard...... so if you get a two stroke make sure to change your piston every 40 hrs, it will help it stay running strong and keep it from blowing up, unlike a fourstroke if you were to rebuild it that often you would be in debt halfway throughe race season. and if you don't like a two stroke you can always trade it in for an thumper
