BMW X5 3L Diesel - after misfiring and running rough, doesn't start - injector activation error

The customer was struggling, the car was misfiring and running rough, until a certain point when it completely shut down and it wouldn't start again. We ran diagnostics and found multiple faults related to injector activation.
