    Tried it exactly as described by you in your two videos except I used regular white sugar. I even steeped it for 31 days rather than 30! Turned out truly excellent. Really, for the price of a 1.75 litre bottle of good brandy from Costco and a bag of organic oranges, the results are very pleasing and the liqueur is gift-worthy....I shall be making a batch in time for Christmas this year.Thank you very much and God bless you.

    Thanks for very instructional video. I think ill keep the orange rinds, though. Spread them on cloth...dry them ..and shake them in sugar.. 😂

    I bet that you could take those orange peels and coat them in sugar and dehydrate them a bit to make orange peel candy for aldult of course. lol. It looks great.

    • @VickiesCountryHome
      @VickiesCountryHome  Před 6 lety +3

      I did consider doing that, but I tasted a bit and thought that they had given up a lot of their flavor to the brandy. I think they would be good if you didn't leave them in there so long. I also thought about adding fresh peels after filtering and leaving for a shorter time in order to get even stronger orange flavor, so those peels might be good for that purpose. I might try that next time.

      That or just dehydrate and grind into a powder and add to baked goods, or as a sprinkling on muffins, ice cream, in yogurt, mmmmm..... :)

      Add a little orange juice and brown sugar to the mariner to make the glaze - baste a few times as you bake the. Ham - a recipe from my cousin in Florida during orange season - so good.

    Absolute Citron vodka with just a splash of Grand Marnier is fantastic! Make sure everything is well child, even the glass. Wonderful drink.
    Can you tell I like Grand Marnier? Kahlua is another I'd love to make. I put it in my chili. I imagine this Grand Marnier would go excellent in chili as well. Thanks for sharing this with us!

    Hi Vickie, I have been looking for a recipe for grand mariner . I did try a recipe about 3yrs a go using the one orange hanging method. I found this rather lack luster. Have you ever tried this method? I am assuming yours has much more flavor but I don’t see anyone else using peel and simple syrup. Curious to know if you’ve tried both ways...
