Whoa, this is much more robust than I would have expected. Seems MUCH easier to use than a lot of video/photo editing software. I am impressed!
This is NOT video editing, this is video CLIP editing. There is no ability to edit an actual video (like this CZcams episode) together as there is no timeline. You can only "edit" video clips individually and export them to a true NLE. BIG difference.

Good video, except for the clickbait title. The shortcut at the end that allows you to add a colour LUT right from Finder is genius. This will be really handy.
This new feature of video editing is going to be a game changer, please post more on video content creation using this. I hope a proper timeline editing is added soon as of now it only support individual video clips editing.
This is really great to know, it is annoying if I want to make a quick and dirty edit, I have to create a library, then create a new project, then drag my video in, etc - this makes it so much easier!
I don’t even use pixelmator but love all of its features…. all of what you showed can be done in photoshop since years (except for the shortcut in finder and export to Motion5) but as Adobe has implemented video functions in photoshop years ago everything is way more clunky and complicated to use. So in just one update Pixalmator added all the functionality at a better usability! I’m impressed.
Indeed, the industry clings to the older ways of doing things shown in this video. What we just saw was something that’s intuitive, fast, and robust.
Video editing? I assume you mean clip editing.
Clip n meme maker 3.2 pro… you may be too generous if it only trims, “editing” is a bit of a stretch. Never uploaded coordinates or anything about a single clip or a single clip ever. Color correction is best done as a batch, (for me) moving around 8k is neat but rendering! Lulz. no thanks. That’s bs still no thanks. Memes might be fun but thought other stuff/apps non-full editors did that already, free. Lookout apple a new trash can is here to take your users away.
Video editing is clip editing if your video is a clip just like image editing can be just changing exposure.
The vertical tools seem to allow for super fast Stories and Reels, and those are complete videos.

@@TrggrWarning that's 100% not what I said. I said that we call changing something simple in a photo editing. We don't need to do curves and levels and color and to call it editing. Editing is modifying an original.
In that same vein any adjustment you make to a video is editing that video. Applying a LUT to a bit of LOG footage is absolutely editing. I've used Resolve to do that to bring the footage back into Final Cut. Changing the whole tone curve is editing and this app can do that.
Not sure why you needed to say something nasty as a reply. Yeah this program is for me. All programs are for me if they can do a task faster or easier.
Avoiding a tool because it's not a full fledged NLE is incredibly limiting. I've got dozens of small apps I use to improve my workflow.
And now this is one of them.
@@davetriesthis solid ass hair splitting there, well done! at one point filmmakers would shoot to have the to-be projected film shot “In the can” done not only of street traffic or trains passing they’d even change scenes and locations! Despite this being before editing existed you’d probably call requesting to have the film pushed a stop in developer fluid editing. Color grading isn’t considered editing either though so there’s that.
Glad you have a use though, I bet you will blow TikTok editors outta the water friend.
fun fact : did you know that you can use the repair tool to remove some objects from video like some of text on white background or still shapes !
Pixelmator pro is a great piece of software and NLEs like FCP could learn a thing or 2 from Pixelmator, but it is not fair to present it as a replacement to FCP for instance. It is not a full video editing software.
I wish the title had simply pointed out the new video features without the FCP clickbait. I use Pixelmator Pro already and this is genuinely exciting news but Pixelmator Pro is NOT Final Cut Pro and clearly isn’t trying to be FCP let alone be better.

Super fun so far. I'm just experimenting with different layers and combining two or more videos by fine-tuning the opacity of each layer to get new feelings.

I just purchased Pixelmaker pro on my iMac via app store. How can I transfer a copy of the same to my MacBook Pro without having to pay for the app again?
No source or record window? That alone is a dealbreaker. Looks kind of like it’s made for amateurs… Hard to tell your review wasn’t too much in depth. But as a Davinci Resolve editor… I don’t think anything can compare.

Sony A7IV with some very light color grading. Lighting I just the natural light from the window I'm next to and cheap, high CRI lightbulb from Home Depot.
An unexpected update with completely unexpected features. Hope to see more of this kind of innovation from them once stable diffusion can be simplified and incorporated into photo editing and video software.
The amount of work that goes into final cut makes it rather cumbersome to use for weekend warrior. It’s why I stuck to using things like Videoleap and VN. This is something I’m going to try.
What about exporting to Apple compressor ?
I know these apps have many effects I haven't mastered. However I haven't been able to find a Marvel Comic type intro with Motion - all of the awesome Marvel intro tutorials are made in A.E. unless I am mistaken.
It’s kind of hard to do because Motion really only does 3D on pure text. So the workaround is make the Marvel logo in another app, export as a vector, convert to a symbol font, import the symbol font, make it 3D. The rest about project the video clips on the edges of the font really aren’t possible in Motion.

Nice for editing imagery within a particular clip. But no audio editing. And can’t manage multiple clips into a video. I use iMovie for basic video creation. And Keynote to create automated clips, for example, for titles and intro clips. A CZcams tutorial on a basic workflow using inexpensive or free tools would be nice. I have resisted Final Cut Pro since I don’t need that level of complexity or control or expense for the simple CZcams videos I make.

Question about the shortcuts, if you want to just apply a grade, that's a destructive and slow action right? - you're presumably taking a compressed video file, you are removing quite a lot of the colour information and then re-compressing it yet again, with quality and colour information losses, right? -- neat, but dangerous!
That's exactly why you want the shortcut to make a copy of the file and not override the original. Any edit, including grading, will cause a loss of quality.

Yes! Would love more videos on video editing. I really haven’t gotten into videos yet but I really want to and learn about the editing. Also I use PSE and Affinity for photo editing but also own the new pixelmator. I still have a hard time with it. I may be wrong but it seems not to have all the tools you find in them other software. Like just wanting to paint bor make fine adjustments. It seems like everything just deals with just making a selection in different ways. I think I just need more training??

Not sure I agree, but the fact, that FCP does not have some major updates in the past does worry the community a lot. Lets hope Apple will not ditch it as they did with Aperture. Leaving iPad for Resolve Davinci is also quite shocking. I was expecting Keynote to implement some more editing fttrs as well. Also what iMovie is for. That app looks like it was left forgotten by apple for decade. Surrprised it still exist. Still great app for concept work and adding some basic editing and animation features would be awesome. Pixelmator is perfect. Lets hope that they will add some AI for better masking tools. EDIT. There is background removal in the layers drop down menu. Hmm, AI at work. Nice.

Well I downloaded the app to my iPad, paid for it and even thought it says photo & video I cant actually edit and video on it, downloaded this on your recommendation old chap. More than a little peeved! 😢😮Can only edit photos. Was a real waist of money considering all the other photo editing apps I have.
Sorry for any confusion. This is the Mac version of the app. Apple always issues refunds on App Store purchases, so just reach out to their support team and I’ve never heard of anyone having an issue on a refund, especially if contact is made quickly.

@@TrogART I'm not sure I follow you. Some iPad apps can be downloaded on macOS, but macOS apps can't be downloaded on iPadOS. Pixelmator does make an iPad app, but Pixelmator Pro is only on macOS.

I can't get over the fact there's still no easy way to export multiple edited files or even explore them like basically every other photo editing app does, Pixelmator relies heavily on MacOS functions to make tasks that should be native to the app imo, it makes me a little angry that they're adding this miscellaneous features but not the most basic and useful for a professional environment.
