@@DashDrones my guess would be the energy crisis has shrunk the perceived market. I've seen comments from people selling theirs because of the cost of leccy, tho' I suspect these are people who couldn't really afford it in the first place.

The difference in the weather for the two weeks made more difference than I thought. Defo saving 45%, maybe even 50%. During these hot sunny days the tub can even put on a degree, losing just 3 overnight.

Nice review, I've got one and put 100mm insulating panel in the top cover . Works great , i turned heater off for 25 hrs ,temp dropped from 35 to 27c this week .

Thanks for the reviews, I managed to get a St Moritz end of season for Half Price from B&Q, upsized from a smaller Lazy Spa due to the size of my grandchildren rapidly changing, anything to help the running costs is good so cover ordered direct from Clever Spa who seem to be competitive on price. Thanks so much for sharing the video, the savings are a real eye opener. We've just bought a Lay-Z-Spa Milan, does anyone have any experience with these covers with a Milan? Looking at the sizing (the spa is 196cm diameter), I'd need a large cover, but that's 208cm - which isn't going to be very snug and therefore impact the heat retention - like wearing a coat that's a few sizes too big for you. Be great to hear people's experience.

Also, a friend of mine told me that he's seen a solar mat that is placed inside the tub and will keep the tub at 30ish through the summer months. Obviously any extra heat would have to come from the pump.

Hi. I have the same spa, I watched a video stating how really we only need to run a filter about 4-6 hours a day, am I right that we can’t turn it off on this spa without also turning the heater off? Doing anything I can to save money running it, but I like to keep the heater on to keep it at 38 degrees rather than re heat all the time from cold.. thank you

Can you help me ? I was wondering is it more economical to keep your spa running all day every day at a temperature a faction lower than desired, then turning up the heat when in use. Or should you run the spa intermittently / every other day as an example to make a costings saving ? Chris

Can I ask about when you heat your tub?
e.g. if you use it 2 days consecutively, what temperature would you keep it at overnight before turning it to 40c a few hours before use?
And when would you turn it off entirely?
I'm not too sure what's most effective heating wise between uses. I tend to keep it at 32c when not in use if I'm using it the next day, and 25c if I'm not using it for 2-3 days but I'm not sure at what point I should just turn it off?

It's more economic to keep the tub warm than to repeatedly let it cool and reheat. Between uses we keep ours at 36, 38 if we know we are going to use it and then up to 40 only if it's colder weather.
The only time ours ever drops below 36 is if we've used the airjets extensively

I have a problem with the rcd. when trying to turn on after an E02 came on and cleaned the filter as was dirty. Keeps tripping out. Any ideas what to do?

Hi.. so can I assume if we are currently paying say £8 a day. If we bought 1 cover we could expect to pay around 5.50 a day and if we put 2 covers on we may only pay £5 a day? This is on an inflatable tub.. I know someone with a hard shell premium tub and she pays around £2 a day but all the panels are insulated thanks
I'd be surprised if you're paying £8 a day, more like a fiver I would think (unless you're using it every day).
The results in the video, though good, were a shade on the pessimistic side. Over a longer term I'm defo seeing saving in the 45% plus region. That's using the tub 3-4 times a week.
The exact savings depend on various factors but for ease of illustration let's say it's about one half.
So, starting at £8pd, one cover will cut this to £4pd and a second cover will cut this to £2pd.
More realistically, you might be down to £3pd. Still substantial and two covers will pay for themselves in two months! This might seem crazy, but the bottom line is that the more expensive leccy gets, the quicker the payback.

What I've found with the ecleverspa thermal cover is that in the very strong sun we've been having it has faded a fair bit and this has weakened the outer material layer. So I've started using my winter cover over it as well s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Af6s7a I got 239x58 - fits great. It's dirt cheap but effective.
I got a 4 pack of PoolPure filters last year. They are out of stock at the moment, but these Bestway filters are available. if you wash them like I showed these six should last a whole season amzn.to/3SkbcpT

So do you need to keep the heater on 24/7 or only put it on a few hrs before you use it ? When using the thermal cover ?
I reheat during economy 7 hours, otherwise I'd leave it on.
I must get one of these covers. I've recently bought a Gas Burner and am running my tub from that. 22c to 40c in 2.5 hours. All im running is a 10w pump. Great savings

Yeah, apparently Cleverspa have stopped making them. Have a look on eBay, a few sellers are still selling old stock fairly cheap
Having been impressed with the cover, I think there would be scope to slip another cover on top.
Clearly you’re not going to get another 35% improvement in efficiency, but you might get another 10%
Thoughts?
I've been thinking of doing exactly this... Got one already and definitely think another would fit over... And as you say would definitely increase the insulation properties 👍
@@scottbrain9629 I took the plunge and ordered a 2nd cover. As expected it fits perfectly (actually works really well as you can leave the opposite side of the flap unzipped to the first cover. This gives a much better coverage of the pipes to the heating unit.
I will feedback as to what difference I find.

I'll try and explain how it would work with an example. To keep the maths easy let's assume a bare tub loses 500W and the cover cuts this by 25%. So a cover would cut our fictional tubs loses to 375W. If we added a second cover we would save 25% of 375w (=94W), thus the loses are reduced to 281W.
Two 35% covers will save 58% used together.
@@scottbrain9629 only initial testing results so far (due to weather being so variable as to make it difficult to assess consistently for any length of time), however over this weekend with the tub maintained at a constant 38c and used for 50 mins at 4pm each day the results are as follows (starting temperature of water on both days of 36c);
- with one cover - total consumption in a 24hr period of 16.4 kWh
- with two covers - total consumption in a 24hr period of 12.9 kWh.
Obviously far from scientific from such limited data, but I’ll update when I get a longer period of consistent weather to test.
the pitcher of the reactor was funny we have a cover for ours to we have the same hot tub so before you all start running off to your shed to build a nuclear reactor just by 1 of them it's easier and a lot safer

Stil don’t no if this cover wud benefit me. Just put ours up for the next 5ish months, I take down in winter months. If the cover is £100ish I don’t think I’d get back what I put in compared to electricity price n price of cover
I haven't done detailed payback calculations but it should pay back in 5 months I expect. For us it will easily pay back in about 4 months. Then next year is all saving

Yeah, the saving is significant. Better than I was expecting. It's enough to negate the recent rises in leccy we've just suffered in the UK.
Cutting the losses like this is enabling me to leave the tub OFF during the day and only heat it during economy 7 hours, which I could not do last year. So more savings. (obviously I heat if it's in use too)
AND it's doing this now, when the weather is still cool (we've had some frosts here this last week), daytime temps 10-12C, though the last couple of days have been sunny.
Easy peasy to slip on and off.

The units per month usage without a cover stated here are dramatically different than your running costs video 🤔
For instance you stated in the first video that you were measuring 400 Upm during Autumn (avg 15c daily)... now during Summer you are using 519 to 600 ?... With the cover on, the number of units per month given is the same as 1st videos without
