We have a few unfinished spots left in our house and Jun's bathroom was one of them! I've had ideas for how to set it up for a while now and it turned out so much better than either of us expected!! Now it's one of our favorite rooms. Jun tells me how much he likes it every time he uses it and I find myself just walking in sometimes to look at it lmao. Thanks for waiting so long for this video!! We got covid part of the way through the process and had to take a break. BUT in other positive news, Tonbo has started coming back on our property this week!! We've even fed him a few times! I truly wasn't expecting him to ever come back at this point, haha. Hopefully he'll keep gaining courage and we'll be able to see him resting on our outdoor sofa again soon!

Gracious and generous with praise, he builds her up. Maybe I don't notice her reciprocating, probably she does, but it'd be nice to hear how awesome he is.
Like in the bathroom, we saw all her grand efforts, but when we see Jun's handmade soap bottles, she devalues them as 'I don't even know what these are. Jun made them for me.' Like, whatever these things are.
Half-heartedly, he claims them as his handiwork. Poor guy, hard to feel pride when everything is about what his wife has done to the room. His only other contribution was the Mason jar w his mouthwash, and she made a small dig at that as well. As if, oh that's Jun's idea, you know how he is, so ... if he's happy....
Instead of building Jun up, your comments diminish him and his efforts.

@@RachelandJunAdventures It will take years to get a home the way you want it. The yard and gardens can take a decade. You can make indoor projects in a few days but you can't rush Mother Nature for the outdoor projects.

God I dream of the day I meet someone that can love and accept me, flaws and all, as much as Jun loves and adores Rachel. Your guys's relationship has been the most beautiful, wholesome thing to watch over the years, and watching you guys slowly build your cat family, your love for each other, your friendships with the Japanese community around you, and your dream home, has been so comforting to be brought along on the ride for through many of my toughest times.
I actually think that's what a couple should be: She is who she is and he loves that. He is who he is and she loves that. A couple is where each can be themselves together. I think that is how you know it will work.
When being yourself makes you sad in the couple, then it cannot last. It does not means things cannot change or be adjusted, but to be together, each has to be able to themselves comfortably.

You're proof that the roles that actually work in a relationship are more important than sticking to traditional gender roles. Jun is good at cooking, Rachel is good at sanding the furniture, everyone is happy.
Also having seperate spaces for each others comfort. Couples do not need to be on top of each other all the time!

As someone with anxiety, Rachel is such an inspiration. She’s spoken about her anxiety and feeling overwhelmed at times, but she still manages to do this! Completing things is SUCH AN ACCOMPLISHMENT! And I’m in aw at all the things she’s capable of doing.
Every time you upload a DIY video, I oscillate between 'I want to be so good at DIY as Rachel is' and 'I want a wife who's so good at DIY as Rachel is' lmao. The bathroom looks beautiful!

Jun is so lucky. His extremely talented wife built him a bathroom that looks like a SPA. And Rachel is so lucky, her husband says the nicest things about her. Seriously, I love watching your videos, they are always so comforting. Sometimes funny, most of the time relaxing, always makes me smile.
Rachel is glowing these days, like genuine, calm happiness and it makes me so happy to see my fav CZcams growing like this, finding her place and making it hers.

I'm so jealous of how you guys can just decide to make improvements to your home and carry it out the way you want. I live with my parents, in our house that's falling apart. It's been in need to renovations for literal decades. Like, we have large open holes in the ceiling of the kitchen and entryway due to water leakage, among other things. But my dad will always object to doing any work on the house, mostly because he's afraid of spending too much. I wish I had some of your skills with putting together stuff, DIY, etc. so maybe I could save my parents some money and they would actually agree to at least some of the renovations we need. And I wish I had the time to look up companies that would do what I can't, reliably, for a reasonable price. Anyway, you guys seem really happy with the house, and so do the cats, and I'm happy for all of you. It looks beautiful.
Rachel seems much happier since moving and I am glad that you guys seem to be doing well in your new home. I know keeping busy with projects tends to make me feel better mentally as well. Also, Rachel's woodworking skills are really impressive! They look professional! Ignoring the wood glue/shaving part :)

That wood powder and wood glue can be used a wood filler, and if you want do extra wood add it at the bottom and did it at an angle so you should be able to hide a majority of joint.
For sanding put a piece of tape on the point you want to sand to.
Or sand by using a small piece of steel, and apply some sand paper to it, you'll be able to sand your wood level or straight for short or long lengths of wood.
I hope this helps you out.

5:45 You shouldn't worry about it too much Rachel. As a woodworker hobbyist I can assure you that getting surfaces like this flat is a nightmare without proper tools. x) I'm not sure what did you use but sanders like the one you have are bad for this kind of small areas since its really hard to keep the sander parallel without proper support from each side. In my relatively brief experience with woodworking I found out that using a rasp and then some hand files works best as they give you the biggest amount of control over what's happening, the rest is just making proper guidelines on the wood and going slow, checking once in a while if you're not taking too much from any side.

As someone who makes his living by sanding and refinishing things made of wood, I can say, practice and experience are the best teachers, keep at it, and you will continue to improve, yet don't disregard good advice. Love your videos, you two, and your cats.

This is beautiful! Sorry for the unsolicited advice, but when trying to fill in gaps on wood, apply glue to the gap and use a fine sanding grit while it is still wet. I've found it always looks better than any other filler. Good luck!

Everything works sooo well, I was impressed how the fake plants around the mirror changed the bathroom so drastically.
My favourite detail is that all those pretty flasks and bottles have an actual purpose instead of being just decoration :)
Something I enjoy is seeing the layouts of homes. I've seen several really neat videos of tours of homes/apartments for sale/rent in Japan. I've watched people give home/apartment tours of their personal dwellings. Tiny house builds or tours of premade tiny homes. I've randomly looked at floor plans for homes and apartments. If I see a for-sale sign on a house when I've driving around, if I remember the address later, I'll look online to see if it's listed and has pics. I don't know what it is, just something about seeing how space is created and the ways it can be used is just fascinating to me!
Watching Jun and Rachel doing the build on their house, showing off rooms and projects inside and out, the way they organize the kitchen... It just makes my brain feel so happy! I'm not very handy myself, but seeing videos like these makes me feel like I want to do something creative.
Nice work! It’s fun seeing the progress. My family finished off our own new home construction ‘adventure’ about 6 months back so I kind of miss the whole process…even the chaotic parts of it. Oh, the flooring in your living room(?) area looks just like ours…maple, right?
Anyway, looking forward to the next one. And now I have to get back to work getting my ‘next one’ up too. (As you know, editing takes time…😅)
