Жозефина Карр-Харрис, 11 поет "My Boy Lollipop", передача "Мелодии на память" в гостях у композитора Александра Журбина, июль 2010
What a perfect song, done by this 11 year old girl. A song from Millie Small in 1964. RIP Millie. Your song will stay forever. Thank you. Condolences to family and friends and all who loves Millie.
And don't forget the original version eight years earlier, by Barbie Gaye. Millie's was a cover.
@@Lazy_Sundae "My Girl Lollypop" was written by Robert Spencer. Gaye was instructed to reverse the sexes and sing it by the crime boss who had effectively stolen the song from Spencer.
@@TimJBenham Yeah, Johnny Roberts. He and Levy stole the song, the credit and the royalties. So sad :(
"You r song will live forever" Uh...do you actually think you're speaking to Millie Small, who is dead?
I didn't realize that song was that old! The first I can recall ever hearing it was in the early maybe mid 90s?
WONDERFUL - So much color in her voice.......THANX for your TALENT ...
I'm surprised a girl this young would know this song exists. Great job!
Specially she is not an American and does not speak English...
Yes. I am 22 and I know about it, but it is because my dad bought the AM Gold CDs.
She must have been raised right. Doing the math, since this was from July 2010, and Ms. Carr-Harris was 11 then, somebody older had to have introduced her to this.
I'm actually 21 and I actually know this song from going through the #1 hits of Canada and I stumbled upon this video while searching for videos of the Canadian #1 hits from 1964
I was born in '63. Millie Small did this song in '64, so I can't remember it firsthand, either. There was a DJ named Wolfman Jack, who died in 1997. It seems the first time I heard this song was 1975. I will say it's way better than anything being played today. It seems the first time I heard this was on his show. It sounds like Millie Small's version accompanying Ms. Carr-Harris.
Little girl singing like a little girl with a big heart God Bess u
Posted originally in 2010. She's 21 now and I can imagine how well she sings today. I would love to hear her.
Well done! It's great to see a little girl still looking like a little girl, and also not over-singing.
I know 👧
This is SO SWEET! I love that song and she does it FANTASTICALLY WELL! 🥰 🤗
She’s so cute and has an amazing voice.
This song should be on Christmas all classic songs to be played every year. RIP Millie Small
I love hearing music from my era being done newer generations. And she does an INCREDIBLE job!!! Kudos!!!! Thank you for sharing. Memories.
Like it when old classics are resurrected
Which is basically what Millie Small did when she covered it and put her own magic into it. In fact her version was a bigger hit than the original.
The parents and grand grandparents have to be so proud. So cute.
Absolutely brilliant, I was just a toddler when the original was released and enjoyed this young girl's version...she is a star!
This 11 years old girl is better than famous
That was beautiful Josie. 2010 at 11 years old. I'm sure you must be a beautiful young lady today. God Bless You
An American girl singing on Russian television. Rock and roll music and children can do a better job at diplomacy than adults it seems.
This youngster is wonderful, why people would give the thumb down to this is absolutely beyond me, just a brave little girl enjoying herself 👍
I guess the main reason is probably that the whole setting seems quite strange. The other kids with the old geezer. Rather... bizarre...
DaLong88, you're probably right. Old guys around kids, must be a chomo. Ha! That is ridiculous! What about Mr. Rogers, Captain Kangaroo, and others that devote their lives to entertaining children? Kids are a blessing and a pure joy to be around (most of the time). What is wrong with wanting to be around that, and work daily to return that joy to them? Be cautious, sure, but not so judgemental.
Such a heartwarming song, would ran home , turn up the radio and sing along if you heard it on a radio near to home. Sweet voice and eye catching smile. Will be missed for those childhood memories. Rest in Peace Millie, you're a standard bearer.
And don't forget the original version eight years earlier, by Barbie Gaye. Millie's was a cover.
Bravo....Encore encore!!

She. Sing. Really. Good. I like. Her. Singing.
Children of all the world! Blessed be the day were born!
Very well done, girl! I just listened to the original before this, and happened to see your version. You sing very clean, you hit the tunes, and you performe in a natural way. You don´t exaggerate the expressions. For that reason you are lovely to look at while you´re singing. I like the surroundings where you sing, it looks comfortable for you. I´m sure you will sing as a profession. Take good care, and stay close to your family and friends, so your singing will make your life good for you!
what a sweet young lady with a lovey voice
One of the best interpretation . Wow.
Does she realise this song was recorded at least 40 years before she was born? She did a great job and she is so cute!!

Very sweet!
so lovely . i realy love this song
Well done! Very Pretty Girl - Beautiful Smile and a Great Voice!
True talent, cute, gee I just wish I could be 11 again. Loveyou...
This girl is mimicking the song she is Russian and does not speak English... I type this to let those people that put thumbs down know that I would like to see if they could do better singing in Russian...
@@giovannilevoci6818 Not looking to troll you, but defending her because she doesn't speak English does nothing to enhance your view of her talent. It's not about learning the song phonetically. It's about the delivery
I've sang a Japanese song on a Karaoke machine and got plenty of applause, not because of my singing, but because the Japanese I had learned phonetically was not that bad coming from a gaijin (Japanese for foreigner)
you nailed it..the best version I ever heard..you go girl
no...no it's not
Lol . U deaf ? Not even close to the best. It's average
Very well done by a very talented young lady! Kudos to her!
This may be a stupid question...but was 50's and 60's American rock and roll/top 40 music played on the airwaves in the Soviet Union in those days? I always thought this type of music was forbidden in those days of the Cold War.
tinkmarz1 It may've been officially banned, but there was a huge black market in American records. Plus, there were several radio stations in Western Europe playing American music that had very powerful signals that could be picked up in the Soviet Union. It was a similar situation to what had occurred with jazz for several decades. Jazz had been officially forbidden, but people still heard it, and Moscow and other big cities had a fairly active underground jazz scene. From my understanding, the authorities realized that they could not really control what music people listened to, and so despite the official position there was not much effort put into suppressing western music. (They were much more concerned with overtly anti-government speech and writing).
That girl certainly has charisma. The French sure would know how to nurture this kind of talent. There's lots of these wide eyed innocent looking young girl singers over there.
🎉🎉Outstanding🎉🎉
she made grand dad proud.....
Oh this was beautifully sung, well done Josephine :)
Aww such a cutie! Well sung!
Wow. I. Love. That. Little. Girl

girl is outstanding!!! hope she keeps on singing!!!
I feel slightly disturbed by such a little kid singing this song...obviously that old man had something to do with it, with all his loving encouragement.
Yea, maybe this was the song he and his wife listened to while they were making her...
Very nice cover.
I especially love the ending! The original record should have ended that way!
She is so nice. great for you. just GREAT

Lovely singer 👍💕
That kid did good!!!
yeah in with the right crowd she will be a STAR, 10/10.
Charming.. a lovely version. The song is a bluebeat classic so we can expect it to be on CZcams for a few more years.
I don't wish to spoil this appreciation.. but to those morons who delight in giving innocence and talent the thumbs down, are you proud of yourselves? One more thing.. I bet you have never heard of the term Bluebeat before.
Have you?
It's called an opinion mate. And it's being expressed in a nation that has the right to free speech. Cope
To sing this song, you have to perform their is no other way. Well done little one
really awesome..... she sounds just like the original

In 1956 ,this was music very nice

absolutely amazing
Millie Small made the song popular, but it was first recorded by Barbie Gaye. Her version is here on You Tube as well.
i love tha voice from kenya can confirm the girl has talent
Millie Small would have been proud to hear this rendition of her song.
Although the original version was recorded in 1956 in New York by Barbie Gaye, It was teenager Millie Small's (who hailed from the parish of Clarendon in Jamaica) cover
version that made this song the biggest hit of all times.
Millie recorded it around 1964
