"So-and-so looks tall" is one of the most oft-repeated hilarious comments STAY love to see about SKZ. Because they're the collectively shortest bg in the industry. As Chan says, they're "fun-sized." They make fun of their (lack of) height regularly; it works its way into all sorts of their content. It's also why we can identify them among a group of people just by looking at footwear -- they virtually always wear either Converse Run Star Hikes (which are literally platform sneakers) or their signature thick-soled combat boots, both options adding a couple inches to their height. Anyway,
Hyunjin: 179 cm
Seungmin: 175 cm
Lee Know & I.N: 172 cm
Chan & Felix: 171 cm
Han: 169 cm (also one of the shortest idols, but enjoys those 2 cm over Binnie)
Changbin: 167 cm (usually considered the third-shortest guy in kpop)
You'll find all sorts of other numbers online. There are people who'll tell you with sincerity that Hyunjin is now 200cm; basically every time a newbie discovers him, someone adds a cm or two when they describe him. They'll tell you Seungmin is 178 cm. They'll tell you I.N is 175 cm -- or taller than Seungmin. "I.N's still growing!" and "Hyunjin grew again!" are common refrains. I.N is 21 years old, Hyunjin is 22, and neither has grown in quite some time, any more than the rest of the grown-ass adults in the group. The only one who noticeably grew since predebut was I.N (and you'll see his old height still mentioned frequently). If nothing else, Chan is 24.5 years old, well past growing season, and we know his height -- and everyone else's heights have stayed the same in comparison to his for a LONG time. (Hyunjin is obviously not short; he's five ten and a half. But he's not exactly a giant either, and he's demonstrably not massively taller than the others overall. Distinguishable, yes [especially next to Binnie and Han], but not as extreme as people sometimes make it sound. His body proportions play a heavy part in the impression of his height and its comparison to the others.)
Generally it's very young fans (or occasionally simply people who just have no comprehension of height or the limitations of puberty) who do this stuff. But we see them lined up, hugging, shoeless, etc all the time AND we see them in comparison with other idols whose heights are known. Hyunjin is not the height of a basketball power forward. Seungmin is more than 1 cm shorter than Hyunjin -- and also visibly taller than I.N. I.N is a hair taller than Chan and Lix, and dead-even with Lee Know (although Lee Know tends to look taller because of his build and posture). Most people don't bother disputing Chan's or Felix's height unless they're indulging daddy fantasies that won't function with a man who's not six-two. And nobody ever tries with Han or Changbin because theirs are very well known and uncontested. But basically, there's less than five inches between Binnie and Jinnie (half of which gets made up with shoes anyway), and they've been described in articles as an attractively formed team because they look pleasingly uniform in height when they line up on red carpets or whatever.

my interpretation of the video was that they use to be sneaking in the back door and now they're the main attraction. kind of like if only past me could see me now. could see what we have accomplished.

Remember that two of SKZ's three storylines -- both the main Korean one and the Japanese one -- contain multiverses and two sets of SKZ. This has been the case since Hellevator, the very first video, although it varies in degree of on-screen relevance depending on video concept.
The two versions of SKZ appear in other videos, like All In, Side Effects, Hellevator, etc. But the closest we've really gotten to them fully interacting before is All In (one set are cops, the other set are thieves) and arguably Astronaut (when Hyunjin realized he was encountering a different set and the two versions of I.N got switched). The parallel worlds themselves (regardless of how many sets of SKZ are present) also show up in many videos -- Hellevator, Levanter, Maniac, etc. And references to the multiverse and multiple sets of SKZ also run through trailers, the highlight reel, and other offshoot content. They've even mentioned it on bubble.
In this, the black-clad set are ringmasters/stars (the clothing contains tons of classic ringmaster details, and they're shown as being the stars and ringmasters during the performances with audiences in the video). The set in black-and-white are harlequins/clowns (the clown team is in the denim outfits, as well; both sets of clown outfits have classic clown/harlequin elements). The clowns watched the ringmasters, copied their performance, and then upped the level -- and then the ringmasters saw that elevated version, the clowns shared the secret to set off the fiery level of performance (aka STAY, the matches), and they combined forces.
Also, I highly recommend keeping an eye on the background choreo at the end, during the "circus music" bit. Chan, Han, Seungmin, and I.N are insane.
Skz do Japaniese releases so well! Some of my fav Skz tracks are their Japaniese releases. Circus is so much fun, isn't it? Loved every sec of the MV and your reaction. 🙂

They did perform Circus for their concert in Japan. iT WAS AMAZING !!! Loved your reactions. For Chan he said once in one of these lives that he likes to let to other shine more, he said he's fine with putting spotlight more on the members than himself, I think if I remember well, he said something like he likes to be in spotlight but he'd rather let the others member have it more.
