    Great video. It's just sad that the phone is assembled with so much glue and tape. It would be nice if phones were designed to allow easy replacement of screens and batteries since those components have high rates of breakage/failure.

      I have a 2020 g power that I love but the charge board is failing. Ever phone I've had ends up with this problem. I'm sure I'm causing It. I use my phone while charging allot. If the charge board was easy to replace I'd probably keep the same phone for years. I might try a Fair Phone but Im spoiled by the powers battery life

      They make it so difficult so they can make more money. They know that most lazy consumers would just rather buy a new phone as opposed trying to change something seemingly complicated on their own. I would definitely encourage learning something new when the battery dies, and it will, eventually. The key to significantly delaying that process requires knowledge of the battery itself as far as knowing what a cell system is to begin with. Some of the fault of the battery problems belongs to the companies (30%) although much improved, they still haven't developed a competent multitasking, proper heat conduction/distribution battery ( if even possible) Most of blame for premature battery failure lies solely on the consumer (70%) Smartphone user's abuse the battery with overloading the cell's with way too many time consuming multitasking.This causes the phone to overheat, especially on warm, hot day's. Batteries require a cool down, recovery period, much like a human require rest to heal and rejuvenate, it's no different from the cell's within a battery. First mistake is, they are charging their phone's daily which should be done every 2-3 day's.They are overcharging the phone's. A phone should only be charged 100% once a month only, with an average charge of 70-80% 2-3 times a week. Phone's shouldn't be charged in hot climates, in fact should not even be used for long periods of time in direct sunlight, quick texting, phone calls only, no surfing. Extreme temperatures are the main problem, either thru excessive use or in extreme elements too long. Lower the light and shorten the display time under a minute. Another hack is to turn off any apps that may be running in the background. The main key is moderation ( easier said than done😄) it could add up to 5 years to your battery life.

    for those of you trying this, I had struggled to get the back off, apply heat like he says via hairblower and it should make it easier. also make sure you are only taking off the tiny part of plastic, i was trying to take off the back at the line closer to the screen, which is incorrect. I used a thumbtack and a decently thick credit card since I did not have the tools the video has. If you are careful enough, I was able to use the thumbtack without damaging any part of the cover/plastic/phone .

    • @tedunderhill9718

      I did the same and ripped up the plastic around the side of the phone. I use a cover so assuming that I can get it functional again it won't matter, but I spent far more time and effort than was necessary. UGH! The cover comes off, after adhesive loosening, just like any other cover. I have no idea why they don't make it accessible.
      On another note, my phone went into the pool. Millenial brainstone, I hope that it's just the battery which I'm going to replace.

    The camera glass on my Moto G Power 2021 was broken. I began by trying to heat up the glass only to avoid removing the back completely. Then I noticed some of the back covering became wrinkled/warped from the heat. I then decided it was best to proceed by removing the back cover. However, after failing to remove the backplate (used a heat gun for about 3 minutes) I reverted back to trying to remove the broken glass only. I used a precision flathead to begin removing the glass. I used the heat gun here and there to soften the adhesive, used the flathead to scrape off the adhesive and pry off the bigger pieces of glass, and used tweezers to remove smaller bits. Towards the the end I used baby cotton swabs with alcohol to further remove sticky residue and bits of glass. Eventually I was successful in changing the camera glass without taking the back of the phone off.

    Good video. A Few notes. Mine was a T3 not a T4. I think in editing he missed a couple cable disconnects so just keep your eyes open for that kind of stuff. If you're doing a frame replacement you don't have to peel off all of the tape. Just take it off the battery. Not a big deal but keeps parts together a little better. No need to pull the copper tape off the rear facing camera. He likely did it just in case you needed to know. All in all, it was very helpful. Just did a frame replacement with new screen for $40.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +2

      I usually don't use a heat gun and generally use a hair dryer since its more of an even heat and not so direct and potentially damaging if you overdo it. Either way you want to generally heat up the back evenly at first but just going in slow circles, then when its warm, you heat up the area you want to begin prying off a bit more so its hot to the touch. Then you can use a suction tool or something else to help gain leverage to get your pry tool in, and you can add heat as needed to keep the adhesive loose while working your way around with the pry tool.

Decided to just order the part and fix it. 8 bucks including shipping for an OEM part. The adhesive can be very strong on this model phone. You can try using a metal thin tool to help you gain some leverage between the backplate and the frame to get a pry tool in between but that can possibly damage or scratch up your frame a bit. You can also use a suction cup tool for smartphones to help you pull up on the back housing as you're trying to get your pry tool in as well as prying it off. Also keep applying heat every now and then as your prying it off to keep the adhesive loose. And if you need any parts (like replacement adhesive strip for re applying the backplate, you can go to this link, they have all the original parts for this phone: www.mobiledefenders.com/motorola-repair-parts/g-series/g-power-xt2041.html

      The numbers after the - on the model number would only be region variations, and different region versions of the same phone would not have different screen sizes. The only way that can happen is if the screen you got is aftermarket and they are not made correctly etc. The dim screen can be caused from the proximity sensor being blocked or too much light getting to it. There is usually a rubber gasket that goes around it and seats into the frame of the screen assembly. Make sure you have moved over that rubber gasket from the old frame/screen to the new one or you would run into dim screen issues.

      If your power button only works for a short time and becomes unresponsive until you hold the button to force the phone to restart for the phone to work normally again for a short while, how can I repair to work as it should do as before this behavior got triggered?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 4 lety +1

      Honestly some portions I can see why it is used to transfer heat, but other portions sometimes they place them in places which don't make sense to me. The exact reasoning I don't know but for example the speaker. I don't think it creates that much heat but why put an extra slab going over one corner of the battery. Maybe more surface area to spread the heat from the speaker? not sure. Maybe someone more verse in this field relating to graphite film can answer.

Dark colors are now way too dark. Do you think they put a cheaper one or did they steal any components off my phone? I just want to know so I buy the correct parts and do it myself.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 3 lety

      Hi, its possible the screen they ordered and used is an aftermarket screen since usually most available parts for replacement are. So instead of an OLED screen it probably was a none oled screen used. However you can order original parts from this website (www.mobiledefenders.com/motorola-repair-parts/g-series/g-power-xt2041.html) for your phone if you want. Keep in mind this link is for the original moto g power xt2041 and not the newer 2021 model moto g power xt2117. They have the xt2117 parts as well but you need to look that up on their website.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před rokem +1

      Check and make sure that the plastic motherboard cover as well as sub board cover are in place and screwed down since they have antenna lines drawn through/over them. Also make sure the motherboard and sub board are screwed down properly as well since they also have antenna contacts which touch the frame and make a connection with antennas in the frame assembly. And also make sure all cables are properly connected. But one other main thing, make sure the SUB board you replace, is the same exact model. For example, if the model of this phone is XT2041-1 lets say, the -1 at the end is the region code for the device. The same phone from different parts of the world would have a - 2 or -3 etc and those sub boards have different antenna contacts for the different network bands so if you use a -2 on a phone thats a -1 ending in the model number, then you would run into signal issues. Hope this helps. Also you can check mobilesentrix.com for original parts for motorola phones.

      The storage chip would be located under one of the metal shields which are fused/soldered to the main board. Would look like the processor (a black square piece) but would probably have the writing Samsung or whichever manufacture of memory they are using. I am not to sure which brand is used on this one. But its not user removable. Its not like a memory card you can take out and put back in, requires soldering etc.
