I needed this pod!! when I was pregnant with my son, I rang triage saying that I had concerns that my son was not moving - I heard throughout my pregnancy if there’s any change in pattern of movements to ring up (I also was 3 days past my due date) - this midwife was SO rude, made me cry, didn’t want me to go up to the hospital at all, told me my baby was sleeping - I had the most active baby in the world, he was always moving about. I still went up there and just as well I did because my waters broke and I went into labour that night! Luckily my son was okay and just playing tricks but I couldn’t believe the ignorance of that midwife. This was my first baby too so made me feel I was doing something wrong.

I’m glad you spoke about bad midwife story’s since it’s so important people understand no matter what they say don’t let them feel like your such a bad parent after being in hospital.
When I had my daughter the midwife that delivered her was so rude and so by the book, I was induced and my cannulae got blocked and they didn’t realise for 2 hours, but after it was fixed it wasn’t turned down so all off a sudden I went from 3cm to 10cm in 2h , I told her I needed to push and she told me I needed to wait a hour till I could. Luckily they had a change over and when the other midwife came in she told me to listen to my body and was amazing and stayed though the whole thing, all my midwife’s after where amazing when I had to stay the night and was giving me advice when I asked which I was worried about since I was 20 when I had my daughter but they was all so supportive and loving.
The midwife that delivered my daughter didn’t deliver my placenta correctly and 3 months later I was in a&e in so much pain not knowing what’s happening and even the hospital said if she wasn’t rushing so much it wouldn’t have happened.
I only now realise I wish I had said something or made a complaint about how rude she was, as a young first time mum it made me so worried and nervous about everything

When I had my little boy last year, I had an emergency C-Section and couldn’t have my partner with me at night. I felt so scared, I had had my baby at 8:38pm and my partner had to leave by 10:00pm. But the amount of mixed opinions by the midwives regarding feeding, swaddling, using blankets etc. I didn’t know what to do. I personally wanted to swaddle my baby because of research I had done and I felt that was a good choice for us. But one of the midwives told me not to swaddle him and just to use a blanket (it wasn’t a cellular blanket either). But then another in the morning told me not to use those blankets and to swaddle him. I was so confused 😭 another midwife made me feel so so small after my c section. I was in immense pain getting up and walking to the point I was brought to tears every time. I didn’t make a big fuss but a midwife came up to me and was like “is your pain tolerance always this low”. I just thought
well no I’ve just had a c section unexpectedly, I lost over 2 litres of blood and my womb tore downwards and had to be stitched, I was just in a lot of pain. I thought something was wrong because the agony I felt when I had to get up and go to the toilet, I was sweating with the pain. Other than that, the other midwives were amazing and it was a fairly good experience ❀

Had my first baby last year and have to say thank god I didn’t have a bad experience with my midwife’s. Ended in emergency c section and I instantly got the baby blues which developed into pp depression. In Ireland your partner isn’t aloud to stay with you. So had my baby at 9:04pm and was on a ward and my partner kicked out by 10:15pm. But, can we talk about other mothers on the ward? My first night my baby woke up crying and one of the other mother walked over and opened my curtain and told me “get your baby to shut the fuck up”. I felt so so bad.

Omg that’s awful! I live in UK I also had my baby boy May last year ended up in an emergency c section. My god the midwife’s where vile to me because he was my first she just kept shutting me down when I was telling her about pains ect!!
I also don’t think there’s enough spoken about after the massive hormone drops after an emergency c section xx

I have an awful midwife with my second. I was 4 cm dilated for 3 weeks back to back contractions, so one day, I'd just had enough, so I wend in and asked for help to start me off . This one midwife gave me a pill that knocked me to sleep, and once I was out, I told my husband that it might harm the baby so my husband was left in tears for mine and our unborn baby's health. I was out for a good 45 minutes, and once I wake, they told me to go home and deal with it. Our son was born the next day 10lbs and he is incredible health other an autism but we are just thankful he is here. My husband didn't get ove leave after our son was born and he worked 15 hour shifts 5 days aweek so I did everything on my own with a 6 yearly old too

So happy with this pod! I’m a first time mum to a little boy, my pregnancy was hell, I had hyperemesis gravidarum(extreme morning sickness) all throughout my pregnancy, pelvic girdle pain which I still suffer with in my back a year later, my midwife was terrible and didn’t help me , at 32 weeks pregnant i had a midwife appointment (different midwife) she picked up that I had high blood pressure and I was rushed to hospital for pre eclampsia and my feet were so swollen I looked like an elephant😅 I stayed in hospital for 2 weeks then at 34 weeks my baby arrived via emergency c section as he wasn’t moving and his heart rate kept dropping. The entire time i was in hospital I had a consultant who asked me why I haven’t been to hospital before for this as in my notes since 20 weeks I had high blood pressure, I obviously wasn’t aware. This could’ve been picked up from my midwife and I would’ve had help before being rushed in. Pre eclampsia isn’t researched enough in the practice and is deadly. I am lucky I was in hospital when my baby was born otherwise we both wouldn’t have survived. I complained about that midwife about my experience and the ways she could’ve prevented this.. she now no longer works there đŸ€

I had my son 16 months ago, I was induced and it was horrible.. They didn't listen to me once when i said something was wrong, left me 2 hours and my son's heart rate was 210 and rising.. once he was born they waited for him to cry at midnight to move us to ward but my partner was still sleeping because it was a long few days with coming in with reduced movements to having him. we had 1 nice midwife out of the 6 we had with the 1 birth 😒

Oh i had a bad midwife with my 3rd ... he was supposed to be a homebirth but was born 2 days early and was a tiny 4lbs12oz baby but he didnt need NICU , he was on the ward with me ... because he was so small i was hand expressing milk so i could wrote down how much he was getting and then this midwife came in and literally binned my milk id spend 35mins expressing ... and gave him a bottle of formula which i didnt agree too ... she tried to send him down to nicu because he was cold because we were in a ward and were next to the window and it was a heatwave and she opened the window "because everyone else is too hot" even tho the other mums said they were fine and 2/3 had fans next to there bed and the 3rd one i asked if she wanted the fan next to mg bed because i wasnt using it. That midwife had ne crying for 3 days whenever she was on shift ... my milk dried up and i had to get formula and i blame that midiwfe for it.

After pains are horrendous. Its like being in labour all over again. I was only 15 when I had my first and nobody really explained anything. I honestly thought something was seriously wrong, it was terrifying. I also had some staff treat me like dirt due to my age. They kind of think what a tramp. My baby's dad was in my life, we stayed together for 11 years and had a second child. It took away so much enjoyment of my first child. Heartbreaking 💔 p.s. just for the record, he was my first boyfriend and it was a contraceptive failure that happily led to my amazing now 40 year old son and we have the best relationship😊
