- Square shafts, round bearings, sprockets, cogs and dies all combined to make a sheet metal shaping machine.. It wasn't too complicated, well as soon as I started making it the right way, anyway..

I watch the French guy and he made a croissant rolling device. I thought you were doing the same. Almost to the end of the video I was waiting for you to explain how bread would be introduced into the video😂

Think I must be going dyslexic, I too read it as bread roller. I thought it was for Sandra and thought that looks pretty unhygienic at the beginning of the video till I saw the light and realised it was for his sheets of metal. Duh!
You have such a way of explaining your projects that makes it easy to understand and follow along with what you're doing. I don't have the first clue about these machines, but I'm excited to see how you continue to develop it because I understand what you explained. Keep up the good work! I'm sure you'll get it!

Yes contrary to what you have been told all your life YOU can put a square peg in a round hole !!!! The size just has to be right !! Good show. A simple solution to a complicated problem !!!
It would be fun to make one of those matching games where none of the pieces fit the same-shaped hole, but rather only fit a differently shaped hole.
Good project. It´s some times good to role in two passes. less presure gives a little more control. Happy to see a nice ongoing project. I remember the other video :D

I so read this as 'Home made bread roller'. As he was making it, I thought, 'Well, it's odd looking and it's a bit large, is he planning on feeding a small village?'
You should size your corrugated rollers to consider the thickness of the material being rolled. That way when the material is passing through the rollers it has the space to be flat. I would also have infeed rollers that are flat, and out feed rollers that match the profile as well. It would force the material to stay flat.
i was expecting you to reveal you made squround shafts that were round on the ends and square along the middle!

I love bead rollers, they are such amazing machines, great for stiffening up metal sheets, making barrels, all sorts of things.
Don't you just love working with nice thick steel? Sure it's heavy but you are so less likely to screw it up beyond repair, and also a lot of the welds seem much easier on thick plate.. Just a bit of advice, lessen the amount your are raising per pass and it won't curve your metal as much. Just make multiple passes adding pressure each go till you get the right height.

The unintended curving could be a problem for the bigger project, and rolling in small increments didn't make much difference to me - but I'll keep trying..
@@WayOutWestx2 then it could be the thickness of your metal. I'd suggest watching some videos about bead rolling sometime. I've spent a lot of time watching videos about metal working.. it was going to be my job until they told me I'm a liability thanks to my back so I can't work physical labor jobs because the workman's comp lawyers won't allow it.
I may be pre-empting you, but I guess you took into account the thickness of your sheet material when you shaped the bead rollers? Just so they don't try to squash the sheet instead of form it.

I did, Tony. But only by guess work. As long as it doesn't actually pinch the sheet it seems to work by a mixture of stretching and drawing in from the sides

Given enough time , sweat , some times money and mental gymnastics most problems can solved if you don't give up . Nobody teaches that anymore it's kinda sad . Glad you got to the finish line .

I also think about making one. My approach, tho, is that I don't want to blame failure of the system on multiple dodgy parts. I'll rather wait for a proper piece of iron to show up rather than trying to make a pipe, and for worse, a square pipe to work in the bearing. Than at least you know that this is not the problem to be corrected. With some luck you will not break the bearings, but why to risk.
Ah, but you are younger than me - I don't have the time to wait!
