I really love how the Mario series has just taken to jazz as it's musical style, it fits really well
That trumpet at the end tho, the amount of practice to get that high note must’ve been ludicrous...
As a trumpet player, playing a high C does take lots of practice to hit

That trumpet at the end is kind of reminiscent of Maynard Ferguson. If you haven't heard of him you should look him up. As a matter of fact the trumpet is on this Orchestra is one Eric miyashiro. And Maynard Ferguson happened to be his biggest inspiration

Holy shit man, the OG Mario Kart theme is so subtle I never noticed it until you pointed out.
I like that they used themes from snes and wii, but it would've been cool to hear something from every game

The very beginning is also a bit reminiscent of the Mario Kart 7 theme, like in Toad Circuit or Neo Bowser City. Only for a brief bit.

@@WorldLoveGaming That second Mount Wario part near the end of the piece also includes the title screen theme from the original Super Mario Kart on the SNES.
The jump in visual and audible standards between MK7 and MK8 was such a big difference, that I really don’t know how much further Nintendo will push with the 9th entry. I hope they continue this jazz thing that they did throughout the decade. It works.

yea its pretty relaxed and the flute adds kind of a classical fusion element, kind of like chick corea. im so blown away by all of the music in this game.

Does anyone know who did that Trumpet solo at the end? My gut tells me it was Eric Miyashrio because if someone can pull such a Maynard sounding lick (especially in Japan for that matter) it'd be him.

So I was just telling this to another guy in the comments. It is Eric miyashiro and Maynard Ferguson was his big Inspiration. Go look him up on Spotify some of his stuff is really great. As a matter of fact, mr. Miyashiro did a cover of one of Maynard Fergusons songs called give it one

I'm a lover of jazz and this is just....woah. I mean listen to that ludicrous bass in the background! And I love how they remixed the mariokart theme and put in the styles of the music from the tracks! This is just phenomenal!
I agree 100% i am lead jazz trombonist at my school and i was shocked to here this at the end of the credits and made sitting thru a few credits very enjoyable

brings a tear to my eye
two weeks ago, i had beaten all grand prix cups in every cc including the dlc. its never felt so good to tick off another mario kart grand prix, first i finished mario kart wii a year ago and moved on to 8 deluxe, next on my list is mario kart ds. i won't abandon this game, this game is like the ultimate with lots of tracks, new characters filling in the six new spots and this games amazing songs and remixes for the tracks.

I don’t think MK8 having the best credits is objective at all, at least from what I’ve heard from others. I’d give the victory to 64, DS, and Wii, (MK8 is actually my least fav credits theme) but that’s just me.
