I just want to put something out there. If they aren’t showing us exactly where it is, it’s because not everyone would show it the same respect they do.
Respect bag limits, folks. Respect size limits. Only take what you need with an eye toward what is sustainable and where an ecosystem needs help. Use all of what you take. Pack out what you pack in if you go camping. Keep your licenses current. Leave things better than you found them.
My time on the soapbox is concluded.
Aaron and Madeleine continue to set a great example in that regard. Thank you both for taking us along for the ride.
couldn't agree more and really appreciate that! we try to be good visitors of the ocean!
Really sad what we see on the bridges, they take everything. Very few times do the cops get there in time.
@@theoffgridtravelers7316 I’m not an attorney, so please don’t take this as legal advice, but the First Amendment protects your right to take pictures or film from public property. So long as you aren’t on private property, you’re well within your rights to document what you see and submit it to your local FWC if you see illegal harvesting. There are some people out there who aren’t honest until they get caught. Hope that helps, and may your lines be tight.
@@KeyWestWaterman Stop being so awesome. My wife says I need to step up my game.
I’m not a free diver, other than our annual scallop season up here in Hudson. I wanted to tell you I was shallow water grouper fishing the other day, and a good fish rocked itself up after nailing a plug. The captain was about to break us off, but I said “No. Aaron Young would never let this happen”. I grabbed a mask and dove down and pulled “ a 28” gag right out of the rock. Coolest fish I’ve ever caught. Thanks for the inspiration man. Keep on it!
haha that is amazing! laughed out loud, thanks for sharing made my day!
Good on ya sir.. Ay would never leave a grouper behind lol
Aye another Pasco County angler. Those grouper are movin in!

@@nestoroniFL yessir. They’re here.
Man does this bring out the kid in me. At 55, I still want to explore!! Thanks for sharing the adventure.
never gets old!
My grandfather 79 still out here doing stuff like this, get out there!
One of the reasons I enjoy watching you in action is simply because I like your style.
I like your boat set up.
You like to explore.
Your not wastfull.
You appreciate a good ole mangrove snapper as much as anything.
Those mangrove tunnels are incredible.
Places of solitude like that are invaluable.
I'm looking forward to seeing you two camping on your next gheenoe.
really do appreciate that! and it's almost camping season, actually building another Gheenoe set up a little better for these types of adventures. will sell my current one when she's ready!
@@KeyWestWaterman I saw the video regarding your next gheenoe. I've spent a few nights in small boats and canoes while exploring the everglades/10,000 islands. My love for the water is strong like yours.
Wasteful*
Leaving the area better than when you found it, yall are the best. We need more videos like this for sure; keep up the excellent work!
we try to each time, thanks so much for coming along!
Great adventure! Those mangroves and tunnels underneath were majestic. That is truly paradise. Thanks for sharing.
its an awesome place! never gets old
Absolutely loved it. Kind of nice to see you just out exploring with your special lady. Absolutely a beautiful episode. Wouldn't mind seeing more of those. Always great to see somebody just enjoying life and you're right it doesn't always have to be about a harvest of an animal or a fish they can sometimes just be about spending time with loved ones and how beautiful nature can be on its own.
couldn't agree more, thanks so much for tuning in glad you enjoyed it!
Learned to use the spoon living in Hawaii, waste is a crime and disrespectful to the harvest. Closer to the Bone the sweeter the meat, however you prepare that rack is spot on, but fresh AP is sashimi grade from head to tail. Great styles Aaron.
I agree! and love my some AP never gets old.
Love the mid week video surprises. Keep up the great content and keeping it real.
sneakin em in there! thanks for coming along
Awesome. Brought back some great memories of snorkeling mangroves on Key Biscayne (Bear Cut) and Key Largo as a teen in the 70's. Magical. Your imagery has only been in my memories until now. Thank you!
really love to hear that! its a magical place for sure
I'm from South Africa and I really enjoy watching you guys, you are really blessed with the beauty that surrounds you. Awesome channel

Hey man, just started watching your videos about a month ago. We're up in Boston and my dad gifted me an Ugly Stik which I haven't done much with in 2 years. Definitely has inspired me to get back on the water. Take all of my likes! So relaxing to watch your content and respect that you treat your catches + habitats with the utmost care, as anyone should. Thank you Aaron and Madeline for sharing such a majestic place… and that’s why I’m retiring there … whatever it takes !! Blessings
glad you enjoyed it! thanks for coming along
Hi Aaron, Madeline. Love this video, it's been years since my wife and I do snorkeling in the mangroves here in Puerto Rico. I first knew about your channel when you did a video on hurricane Ian making landfall in FL. It just made me cry when I saw this video and to think about all the natural beauty that was lost in the Fort Myers, Sanibel, Cape Coral area.
It will take some time to regenerate back to a sustainable environment. But that is the reality of nature.
Hope to see more of your video on fishing.
yea its really sad, but thats the risk we all take living in paradise. hopefully they can all get back to normal soon enough. thanks for tuning in.
Had a tough day at work today and watching this took all the stress away. You live in a gorgeous place keep making videos like these. I like what you said too, the end of the road doesn’t mean the end of the adventure. Good stuff
really love to hear that! keeps me making em.
Thank you for sharing! I could easily see spending all day there exploring
its hard not to honestly
The sauce!!! How awesome is Madeleine for holding up that bottle to the camera!! Will be here Friday. Can’t wait. Thanks guys! 🍣
I always forget to! haha its good gotta try it
Well this was one amazing video. Figured there would of been a lot of big fish in there. I would love to spend a day exploring there. Thanks for sharing this . Be safe you two.
glad you enjoyed it! and there are time to time, thanks so much
@@KeyWestWaterman surprised you didnt catch a few jewfish laying up under those banks. there used to be a lot of them back when i was diving the mangrove creeks around sugarloaf. Used to see snook, tarpon, lots of snapper and grunts, nurse sharks and a few lobsters. It was always an adventure.
Another incredible video Aaron! I could spend so much time swimming around in those mangroves! Where I live in Spring Hill FL, we have a bunch of mangroves but no crazy tunnels like where you were! I loved that one little hole that was jn the middle of that one tunnel that had the round beam of light dropping through onto the mound! Such an amazing shot you captured! Thank you so much for sharing so many fun and awesome adventures you have with us all! It's always a joy when I see a notification from a video from you! Keep up the amazing work!!!
they really are a treat, some days I spend 4-5 hours just swimming. never gets old thanks for coming along
Is that still saltwater?
Hey Aaron, Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us! your living the dream! but in all honesty i see how hard you work to live the dream. Thank you for keeping it real with us and showing us the highlight reel of your life! you are AWESOME

The hits just keep on coming! Awesome video man. Thanks for thinking of us and taking us along while you were out there.
glad you enjoyed it!
I got the creeps a little bit just watching you guys crawling around under the Mangrove roots. Thanks for doing it so I don’t have to. Cool, thanks.
😂 its not so bad! gets a little spooky in some spots. thanks for coming along
Great scenery, great video as usual! As per the meat off the rack that you would use a spoon to scrap…….fish burger!!! Just a option! Keep living the dream for a lot of us!
yup! we do that often as well!
Amazing new adventure!!
glad you enjoyed it!
Love the back country and what it has to offer. Love offshore fishing but would rather be in the back country. Thanks for Sharing.
glad you enjoyed it! def love it back there!
O yeah !! Great video. I’m surprised you guys didn’t hit any saltwater crocodiles. We have them all over Naples Marco Island in the backcountry.
My family had a vacation house in Key Haven when I was a kid. I used to explore, fish & snorkel that area in my 16' skiff. Really cool place that used to produce a lot of lobster on the channel edges of the flats heading into the islands. It's cool watching you explore where I did in the 80's. Never had the nerve to leave the boat and swim under the mangroves though! Brings back a lot of great memories. Awesome channel!
wish I could have seen it back then! thanks for coming along, glad you enjoyed it
Was my thought..."could I ever find the boat again?" "What happens if I'd get lost under there?"...these 2 are truly brave souls. I admire them.
Awesome video Aaron. That was great idea 💡 about exploring the Mangrove tunnels and that AP sushi 🍣 among too. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week 😀

Hey Aaron, what an amazing place. That video was PLANET EARTH worthy. I could just imagine David Attenborough narrating as you guys explored through the mangrove maze. Thanks for sharing.
haha, it really has that feel out there. such a magical place it is
Hands down the best vids on living the perfect life, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer couple…(loved the little ‘dig’ on global warming) Cheers from Blighty folks !
haha thanks so much 🙏
Dude, this is one of the best video I have seen on CZcams. You guys are cool. Visual definition of the word "adventure". I can feel that you are enjoying your environment.
Awesome video ya'll really do live in paradise. We used to live on Big Pine in the seventies. Fished and snorkeled all over the backcountry out of a 12 ft. Jon boat. You have quite the life. Adventures every day then dinner with an "Angel". LOL
we really do! doing out best to enjoy it!
These mangrove adventures just never get old. You guys are so frickin lucky!!!
Its also really cool seeing your film making skills advance. The drone footage and new angles and stuff you are doing lately really make a difference in the over all viewing experience. Great work. As always....thanks for bringing us along!
I won't argue that! and ill be honest im really starting to enjoy that side of things, been feeling artsy lately. 🤓
Wow that is an AWESOME secret spot. Do you ever see any sharks, or crocs while there? I know my girlfriend would be nervous snorkeling in a spot like that.
nurse sharks is about it, no crocs. Madeleine really love its out there, its a magical place!
Thanks! That was awesome! Madeline has my respect for just snorkeling into random Mangrove holes. God bless you both!
haha she's a wild one!
What a great video! I swear you could make a living on still shot photography, such beautiful nature, seems to be unspoiled, almost virgin like. Love all your videos, this is on the top ten!
im actually in the process of getting a decent camera! I see way too much cool stuff out there 👀

really appreciate that and love to hear it! thanks so much for the positive feedback!
You make this seem so tranquil and chill 😂 do you never see snakes, gators, sharks, etc on these type dives? I figured the mangroves would be riddled with predators.
snakes sometimes, sharks as well, dont get gators this far south.
I think we all clicked this for the same reason. Men of Culture, we meet again.

Try This One for a Good Roll.
-Instead of seaweed sheets, use cucumber straps.
-Take a Vegetable Peeler, and peel one, then use it to take semi thick strips of cucumber and lay them out overlapping a bit. Lay out what you want in your roll, then roll it up like normal. Enjoy! Love the videos Sir!

I really enjoy the way that you begin your videos. Nothing flashy, a signature sign on statement and get to the video. This is a true example that "less is more." (I haven't heard you describe a fish as "friendly" for quite a while either. Your productions are getting better and better.) Keep up the good work and I wish you much success!

There are a lot of parallels in our stories. The video about how you kind of "fell into" your current life is one of the best.

Aaron, just a tip, and I'm no expert by any means, try to not smash the sushi rice with the spoon onto the nori wrap. You want the rice to still be flaky/fluffy. Also try mixing Dashi (Bonito flakes) in with the vinegar, sugar, and salt. In my opinion it gives it a more authentic taste. Great video! Looks tasty, got me craving sushi now! LOL
that makes sense! I do appreciate the info!

Sushi rice vinegar = 1-1/4 cups rice vinegar, 1-1/2 tbsp mirin, 1/3 cup salt, 2/3 cup sugar. Put everything into a pot, and heat over medium heat, stir until everything is dissolved and turn off the heat, do not boil, let the mixture cool, you can store it in a Ball jar. Make rice using short grain Japanese rice (never use Basmati or similarly aromatic rice) I use 4 cups Nishiki or Botan rice, rinse the rice very well pouring cold tap through strainer over the cooking pot, several times to remove excess starch, then put it in the pot and cover it with liquid and swish it around and drain trying to remove the cracked, broken, or hollow rice grains and whatever chaff is in the rice, it will probably take a few times. Soak the rice for ten minutes in cold water. Drain the rice. Cook the rice according to the directions on the rice packaging (i generally use equal parts rice and water, after turning off the heat let the rice cool for ten minutes, gently spread the rice thinly in a very large diameter not cast-iron pan (stainless is best) and sprinkle the vinegar mixture over the still mostly hot rice and gently fluff with a wooden spatula being careful not to smash the rice, until the rice is cool. Drain off any excess liquid, there shouldn't be much if any. The rice is ready. My Japanese ex-wife made her cousin in law show her how to make sushi before we transferred to the USA, she couldn't stand American sushi. Do not use a rice cooker for sushi, as rice cookers overcook the rice. Use a large pot with a steaming lid.
thanks so much for the info! thats what I was looking for 🙏
