You know the writers are doing a great job when you see people defending Villanelle and blaming Eve. Psychopaths are charming. Villanelle is so charming and charismatic that the audience fell in love with her in a way that they're defending her actions because they love her and care more about her feelings than the fact that she's an actual psychopath. I think that's amazing because it's believable that Eve can fall for Villanelle because we fell for her too.

While Waller-Bridge made us care about a psychopath Fennell made us empathise with one. Job well done inspite of my misgivings regarding the softening of Villanelle, it did wonders for Comer's acting chops.

@@firstlast9846 From a holistic standpoint, S1 was paced better. But I also think there's brilliant writing in S2. There's a lot to unpack in this ending for example. There's the surface layer that Eve is scared out of her mind because she committed her first murder, but there's also the deeper fear that she perhaps enjoyed it, or that this brings her one step closer to becoming a real psychopath. Instead of owning up to her actions, she blamed it all on V because V manipulated her into thinking she had to, and V's supposed to be the villain in this story. Most of all, Eve couldn't bare the thought of losing her humanity. All along V thought Eve understood her and that they're the same. All she did was show Eve the way and they can finally be together. She doesn't understand why Eve doesn't want to become like her, because to V, being a murdering psychopath has brought her glamor, wealth, and freedom. Lying and manipulation are the only ways she knew to interact with those around her. She relied on her charms to get people to like her, but she doesn't know how to make them stay.

@@kyl6864 @KY L Back then, Villanelle's idea of love was all about possession with the demand of unconditional surrender, by the 3rd season she knew different. Eve cared more about the fact she got a slug in her back than the fact she got tricked into killing someone which got banished straight to the memory hole, never to be spoken of again which was detrimental to her character development.

I think it's so interesting how Villanelle had that conversation with the rich guy about "collecting". And she said she likes to own things and look at them. This must be what her love is. Now it makes perfect sense why they chose the remake of Leslie Gore's song: "You Don't Own Me," at the end of Episode 7, Wide Awake when V killed Gemma to frame Nico. V sees Eve as an object/territory. Eve was right, Villanelle doesn't know what love is. It isn't about ownership. Eve said, "Yes," when V asked her if she believed she would kill her. People keep thinking that psychopaths are normal people, when they aren't. V sees Eve as her favorite toy/obsession. She doesn't know the real Eve. She only knows her MI5/MI6 investigation. That's why when Eve disappointed her, the first thing she did was to shoot her.

I dont agree with people saying Villanelle doesn't love Eve. I refuse to believe that. Villanelle Loves eve. In her own way...in her own twisted way if i may say so. Love has many forms, meanings and definitions. So whatever love means for Villanelle...she had that for Eve, With her whole existence. Eve touched her heart, she did all that for Eve she wouldn't have done for anyone...all because she thought Eve was someone SPECIAL who understood & felt what Villanelle was. But the moment she realized it was all a lie she fell out of love...and when eve is not SPECIAL to her then Eve is almost like every other person to Villanelle. So she shot her.

I think she loves Eve, she just doesn't know how to love because no one taught her how because she's never received love. As for Eve. After realizing that Villanelle manipulated her into murder, she understands that she's been acting just like V or is on the verge of becoming like V. This scares Eve more than being in love with a psychopath or anything V can ever do to her. Thus, she had to walk away, knowing that V would shoot her. I think most V sympathizers completely missed this point. Eve isn't scare of V or their mutual love for each other. Eve is most afraid of losing her own humanity, her entire journey from S1-2 documents this transformation quite clearly.

Love Villanelle, can’t stand Eve, and since the show seems to spend more time with the Eve story, I have a love-hate relationship with this show. If Eve didn’t fly into hysterics, keep secrets from literally every person she knows, and boss everyone around, even when she is not the boss, I’d like the show even more. Sandra Oh’s acting technique of using only her eyebrows is remarkable, but-and I don’t mean this to be mean-she’s not the most...fetching actress. She gets an awful lot of closeups.

Yeah you meant it to be mean. This is the problem I have with a lot of the so-called "fans" of the show. People are so quick to dismiss Sandra Oh's character as worthless based on how she looks. They also compare her acting ability to Jodie Comer's. Both are crucial to the show. They never do this to men, saying their character, etc; are worthless because they aren't as charismatic or good looking as the other lead character. For example, you wouldn't have Mark Hammil/Luke Skywalker deemed as worthless because he's not as "fetching" as Hans Solo (Harrison Ford). It's only women who face these issues.

@@kristiemao4275 I don't think there's anything wrong with favoring attractive actors over unattractive ones, and there are tons of rolls for unattractive actors. In Killing Eve, the whole dynamic of the two lead characters would change if Eve was some beauty queen. The contrast between the two characters would be weakened. No, I don't say things to be mean. It was just my observation and my opinion. We disagree, and that's fine.
