I remember when I built my franko everyone thought it was a g23 lol.
It was actually a h22 sleeved and bored at 90mm with a offset machined f23 cranm that gave us 100mm stroke. Made a fun 2.6l.

I did this type of build with a SOHC head. K20a2 piston gave me a little under 12.5:1 static F23 block/crank/rods
Ported F22a6 head/Delta cam, H series intake manifold, H2B S80 LSD with 4.4 FD. Lots of fun

Seems simple enough didnt i read something about an external oil feed on these or was that a mini me?
Just a little bit of technical information, the honda g-series engines are 2-2.5L inline 5 motors. I also do believe that the f/h series are similar with the f series generally being lower displacement and being bolted to autos. Mixing parts from both f/h blocks doesnt technically make a g series engine, just a 2300cc twin cam f series.

Nice build and video. The whole reason behind making a g22 engine is because to turbo a h22 and make any real power you have to get the block sleeved or get one that is already sleeved. By using the f22/f23 block you can boost the hell out of them without them failing compared to the h22 block which will only take about 12 psi of boost and still last for awhile without failing. You can always boost them over 12 psi but thats asking for problems. And its alot cheaper to find and replace a f22/f23 block than a h22 block
CarlJ you dont actually have to sleeve the block the frm cylinders are very strong is finding suitable pistons for the frm cylinders that becomes the problem for boosting.
bro! your a real innovator! im looking to vtec swap my 2nd gen Accord hatch which are not common in the UK (only 2 legally on the road ATM) but i cannot find anything in regards to which engine mounts to use etc. youve helped me out with just this video because we can get f22 blocks cheap here. thanks in advance

The intake manifold for the h22 was designed for low end power and torque and that limits the top end breathing tremendously, I learnt that after building my h22 the skunk 2 h22 manifold is a god send. Helps out tremendously.

An I'm not really a huge fan of the skunk 2 my self unless it's the Ulta kseries one ..I'm more of a fan of the Euro r intake or just h2k

u can bore or port match a bigger thtottle body and it would fix top end breathing plenums are about equal , i love this build and want one my self but the with the Accord euro r head Red top 😎lol , keep up the good work, maybe introduce a lil more in depth at mounts and all the things u need for build like harness jumpers, what ecm u use any o2 deletes or ads , i have 90 db1 and f23 motors are every where, also do u have to swap k series pistons or is it just to increase compression ?
Lies the h22 intake is just as good. The s2 does nothing at all they had to redesign it. Just dermal out the butterfly opening or get the euro r and it's a great manifold that makes close to 300hp no prob.
I just bought a Prelude and saw the F23A1 stamped on the block with DOHC on the head and I was like tf? Been researching Honda for the past week until I came across this and I guess they did the work/bought your kit! Apparently the F23A1 block has steel sleeves vs special coating that wears out in H22A4. Also has stronger girdles.

Great engine , i like g23vtec, they are amazing and just so fun to built ... the cost is so cheap for the hp you can get out of it. Even if you blown it ..... not big of a deal. A must to the honda scene.

I have a F23A1 block bored 0.20 over. H23a vtec head. What head gasket do I use. And do I have to do anything else major to the block and head(besides the water pump and water pipe) to make it all work? Also do I use the F23a oil pump and timing belt tensioner? I already have KS tuned head plugs. F23A1 h beam rods. K20a2 type s pistons. Where do I go from here?? Thanks
How much power does it pull? Sounds like way too much custom fabrication just to make it run right and correct

Only thing about the g23 is why, a F22 non V head with a f23 block and K series piston. Yield about the same or more the a G23 set up. I guess it about preference

Hey I'm doing this build currently and my tuner and i cannot figure out what's going on it's throwing (tdc) top dead center code and (cps) cylinder position sensor code did you leave the sensors on the block or take them off I'm curious because i took mine off wired a new dizzy and it will not run food at all I'm just curious to if you left those sensors on the block

Any way I can contact you about the harness? Had a shop pull the h23 out of a race car(he lost a bet) and put it in my ek. He hacked up the harness pulling it out and refuses to give me any information on how to wire it up.

Or just rebuilt the SOHC, 60$ for a F23 Headgasket kit. That's what I did when my 98 Accord LX gave out, ran another 30,000miles then sold it, got me the Awesome DC5!
What about bore on f23 being 86 mm and h22/h23 being h23, does that make too much a difference? Deevergoat on cb7tuner has an entire rant on the f22/h22-h23 mix and how the bore on f22 is 85 and h series being 87 and that the flame wave doesnt propagate the way it should. Any insight? I have an f22 in my cb7 [ yes, i know you're f23] and was wondering what direction to go, swap h and deal with shit cylinders or stay f single no vtec and just boost. Subscribed btw.

Yea on f23 it's different bore 86mm an also uses 97 stroke I used kseries pistons same bore an same pistons hight

seems like a lot of work if your only in the -200BHP range.
If you turbo it’ll make 400-600hp which you can’t do in a f22 or a h22 and it’s so cheap

My head says p13 on it i was told it's the jdm h22a is it? I'm putting my h22 head built with skunk 2 valves springs and retainers full port and polish Delta 272 regrind camshafts on a f20b block!

It very well could be a jdm head in Japan they made the p13 head from 91-01
And the pde heads were made from 98-02

What do you think about an H23A1 bottom end with K20A2 pistons with H22A head?
You would have to sleeve the block and get oversized pistons. Sleeving costs around $1k and oversized pistons around $500. Why do that when you can buy an F23 for $200-$300 and used stock diameter K20A2 pistons for around $100.
Where can I buy your g23 kit you sell ? I want to build a g23 since you're g23 kit is plug and play?
Just a FYI, you don't need to tap the head. There is a easier way to do it. Injectornation.com sells these special plugs that just slide right into the head and blocks the two oil ports.

Just keep the stock head if you are going turbo they flow really well and will make more than enough for a street car.

I wonder if you can install a F20c or F22c1 6 speed RWD transmission on this and run it like a S2000, though the motor mounts would need to be fabricated.

@@minidude4321 yeah I guess it wouldn't run without fully swapping the driveline and everything. In good news, you can AWD a Honda if you add the CR-V transmission with AWD drivetrain and the K24 i4 motor, Honda has unlimited potential for swaps.

@@minidude4321 basically the same thing with my concept but the K24/K20 AWD can be Naturally aspirated running around 300hp, both B series and K Series can Last 300,000 miles indefinitely if taken care.

What head gasket did you use ? & what oil ports did you plug. I cant figure it out i have bad leakage. Ive tried it over 5 times now and im fed up with it. Im leaking from the back side of the block. Left hand side
