- Azusa Canyon Off-Road, acres of mud, steep river banks, and a couple of deep water crossings. The river has subsided at most crossings. We also had numerous broken beads to assist with on 3 different rigs. We had a blast but at an expense. We blew up our front winch. We break a axle shaft for the first time and go home on the back of a tow truck for only the 2nd time ever.
Coincidentally both times within a month apart. Finally make it home after 9pm.
Haaa!! you got me at 4:37!! sweet vid!
Thanks. Recording and airing everyone make a video for everyone to watch and enjoy.
Great videos paco
Thanks Casey, we try. Where you at? I heard you were out of state.
The oldest Fred l remember from the 80s had a white Long Bed Chevy with dually rear fenders, 40" tires and white wheels. I think it was the same Fred. I do remember he had a lot of Canyon footage from his camcorder.
He did use did a camcorder. He was a quiet man always wearing a white t-shirt, and glasses. Pushing 70, kind of heavy, grey haired, and a mustache.
Never seen a video from this man in my life but the fact that he says “video-taping” still and was dead serious, got me to comment and like this video. Good on you sir. I know you were the one with the handheld camera back in the days and the home videos. You’re the real MVP. Keep it nostalgic.
Thanks, we try to get footage for everyone. We did a few video CDs circulating back in the day.
@@mudgyver5205 Hey boss, the large "river" shown here >>> 4:50
No worries, the canyon has been closed off just before that crossing. Any fun would before that crossing. Plus all crossings have substantially subsided. A stock truck can access the area.
Ayeee that’s me in the Tacoma and my cousin in the quad in the first clip crossing the river
Nice to see you found yourself in the video!🙂
Thanks for winching me out paco much appreciated 👍
No worries Andrew. You know we do what we can.
Grate video man I will try to go next week I spend my weekend on hungry valley to thanks again
Hope you can make it.
Great video! 🔥
Thanks, I can’t wait to see yours. Especially, the Frontier that I tried to recover at the exit.
That white excursion was stuck right in the mix, thanks for helping me get out.
I was there when the Excursion was winched out by Joey but I only was recording video.
@@mudgyver5205 I know. I saw everything.
You have a great bunch of awesome videos and I want to thank you for helping out so many people with their rigs . I might be the next one who might need help 😅😅
If you need help there is plenty of people willing to help you including us.
I totally remember him in the yellow bronco. I would go there in the 80's a lot w/ my girl friend in my Red 68 chevy truck 4x4 shortbed. I still own this truck bought it in March 1981. he was always there. I was in my twenty's then and he would help when others could not . I din't know his name was Fred.
Those were the good old days!!
Yes Fred was the man when others couldn’t help. He taught a few of us some tricks on winching. Some of us acknowledge that and I know at least one that doesn’t. Fred was a good person in Azusa. He was willing to share knowledge but was unable to do the work that some didn’t want to do. When he helped a person, that person needed to help him to help themselves (because he physically couldn’t), otherwise he couldn’t help you. Not sure if you follow what I’m trying to explain. In short, Fred was a helping person.
@@mudgyver5205 It makes sense we would park and watch everyone and Fred would also be parked and watching. I saw him help others a few times. Thanks for your videos. And replying.
Yes, he would park and watch from a distance until sought out by those in dire need. Thanks for watching and no need to thank me. I do this for pleasure and enjoyment, but I also have my personal reasons (memories) to post videos.@@mountainhopper9573
Awesome video, we where regulars there back in the mid 80s , I don’t remember all the trees at the first crossing. We once drove an 83 2wd Toyota pickup across that river with a Honda FL 250 odyssey in the back, good times!
Thankyou, glad you liked it. We once took a 2WD Chevy van in there. I would go from time to time in the early 80s and became a regular in the late 80s. Stopped going in 08’ only to return in 20’.
heck yeah!!!!!!😁😁😁
Thanks.
I like that square body truck with the military trailer for the bed.
That thing has a beast of an engine! it screams!
10:44 They started running 😂😂
Dope videos man ! Gonna go next week !
Nice, come say hello.
Are the closing off some of the sections soon?
I was told today that is was happening as I was told.😕
Here all our trail systems have been shut down in NC due to not being able to drive anywhere near water an yall get to play it in. Enjoy this and don't take it for granted I wish we had trails open still
Trust me, we don’t take it for granted. Our mud weekends are coming to an end very soon. Everyone knows it and is coming out to because of it.
Ahh good ol mud bobber....rip fred
Some of us still remember Fred. I heard about your dad maybe 3 and a half years ago. I cried when I heard about him. I’m sorry to you for your loss. Some of us here in the canyon still remember him in our conversations from time to time. He was good to me. I always had respect for him and his mellow ways towards me.
Another great video!! Off road community is the best..
Thank you. I’ve been fortunate to know good people.
Great videos man. I interacted with you 2 weekends ago at the halfway mark. Told ya I liked that light rack on your Toyota. Cool to have found you here. Didn't know there were so many Azusa offroad youtubers. It's awesome! Hope to see you out there again 👍🏼
Yes I do recall that brief conversation. Hang around the off-road area more often. I just started posting last October. Not sure of what or where all the phone videos are going.
Great vid Sir, love the content !, t,d say those boys certainly love that mud n sand
Thank you, and I’m one of them! 🙂
Gracias por compartir sus videos. Está muy bien el lodazal qué hay ❤
Gracias por ver, y su apoyo.
Wow great adventure🚗👍😊
An adventure it definitely is!
Chingon video brother
Gracias! 🙂
It was nice talking to you. I have another angle of you getting out of that mud flat...
It was nice meeting you too!
I heard that axle snap coming out of that first water crossing pulling that black truck
Yeah it did, I knew something broke as soon as it happened. Couldn’t tell until I was told the rear wasn’t pulling.
People say it’s stock friendly but that initial entrance has those big ass rocks🪨 be smart peoples go around to the right ➡️ if ur driving stock!!!!!
i broke an axle on those rocks yesterday pulling somebody out which I couldn’t finish doing.
Is there an easier way to the right? Planning on going there with my 94 pickup 2wd but am worried about getting stuck and flooding my truck.
@@mudgyver5205 I’m very sorry to hear that… I damn near did they same thing …. On a 6inch lifted 95 Tahoe… u can’t see the rocks that well
@@OverlandSeries u can get around them… just go around the right side of them….
@@simonrangel9522ohh ok, is it as deep or less water? My 2wd 94 pickup has 30s with a 5 inch lift and no snorkel so am wondering if it would go through
I came once by myself and made it good… but my friends don’t wanna come with me. Anyone down to roll thru together let me know.
Just show up, be friendly, and don’t try to act like a know-it-all. You’ll be fine.
Nice Video!👍 Do you Think a 94 Toyota pickup 2wd with a rear locker can go to Azusa? It’s been regeared with 4.56 gears and has 30 inch BFGoodrich K02s. 5 inch lift. Also the 22RE
FYI It’s on my channel @OverlandSeries
I’m sure it is capable but they often deter from allowing 2WD vehicles in. I’ve seen plenty of 2WD vehicles that appear to look like 4WD in there. if your truck looks like 4WD you can probably get in.
@@mudgyver5205my truck kinda looks like a 4wd but not certain. Do they check if its a 4wd, is it strict guidelines? And how many river crossings are necessary to get to the mud play area?
@@mudgyver5205it’s on my channel. Check it out and let me know!
@@OverlandSeries It seems to depend on who is at the front gate. Describing you truck, you may be fine.
when is the next meet up
No official meet but everyone usually shows up on Sundays. We should be there tomorrow as well as many others because of Hilary’s leftover rains. Curiosity is what keeps us going hoping to find mud.
Is doing 🍩 frowned upon?
No, just make sure someone or their vehicle is too close where you can spray them.
