Yeah, it's been close to 100f here all week here. Makes for early mornings and late nights. Stay cool
Learned more from you Ralfy regarding lathe and milling work than I ever did at metalwork at school, mind you I did drink back then and we also tried to maim each other in class 😎😎😎😎
Looking well Ralfy. 👍 It must be all the sunshine we have got at the moment. Oh and the Martian spunk! Your secrets safe with me😎
Gday Ralfy, that all worked out good, you can’t beat older machines compared to the imported shit thats around now, awesome job mate, cheers
G'day Matty, yeah more work than you'd think, who flung dung is going to it's new home soon enough
Good one Mate . The 300th thumbs up ! When i do those wheel bearings , i do them off the bike with the axle & use spacers to take up the gap . Can then mount an indicator on the brake disc to check the bearing end float . I bet you will be glad to have the old lathe back , way better than the cheap ass chinese crap . Cheers 👍
Happy days Max and g'day
Thanks bud, yeah I thought they'd be a posh way lol
Used to get and give dead legs all the time at school back in the 70’s. You will stop limping in a few hours!
Who flung dung? I have a hobby lathe and call it the whing whang, same as we call cheap tyres. Hoping to see you use it. Great content as always Thank You.
Endplay about .002," I usually convert them to later style with shims.
I've got an old Myford ML7, with a few modifications, and it beats those Chinese lathes hands down. Cracking little tool room lathe for all those small jobs. At least your getting the Atlas back.
How you getting on with the Anchorlube?
G'day Ralfy, you gotta wonder how a bearing spacer can get mangled that bad and it's good to see that the lovely old Atlas is coming home I try not to support the Red Chinese economy as much as possible but it's not easy. Another first class job done Ralfy I really enjoyed that.👍👍
Threaded rod wheel spindle and a big hammer is my guess lol, yeah I get the red army thing too, just took a chance here, but I'm missing that old Atlas too much
Cracking work as usual mate.
A word to the wise. CZcams unsubbed me for no reason.
Nice to see some proper thread cutting. I'd have cheated and run a die on it ❤
As you say Ralfy, a lot of work, that new lathe didn’t sound to good, not a patch on the Atlas.
Hello Ralfy :) Great stuff !!
Wondering the year of the sportster. Any pros and cons that you know of with the right side drive ?
Thank you buddy, 1970's is my guess, all sportsters are right sided drive, helps with the construction, and they've kept them like that forever, so it works
Means the brake is typically on the left, so the front has to be offset on the right, which is untypical for a single disc front end soo... 🤔
I didn't realize all were the right side. I'm looking at a 74 ironhead. Just when I think I'm coming alone for understanding (evo, shovel internally).....they switch sides. Lol, :) Have a great day, thanks.
G'day roamingearth, I'm picking it's a 1981 Sportster or later as it has the smaller hitachi starter motor. The earlier Sportster has a Prestolite starter that's round and sticks out more also the primary cover is ribbed and the brake lever and master cylinder are post 1980 and btw the 1980 Sportster was the last year a kick start could be fitted.
I suggest you get a publication called WHAT FITS WHAT ON HARLEY DAVIDSON by Mike Arman and Kurt Heinrichs, it's a great little book with some kool tips as I suspect you are a newbie to the earlier HD Sportster.
Ralfy why does the spindle have a thread on each end? Is it a Harley thing? I had a spindle made years back, had a thread on one end and a turned top hat profile on the other with a hole through so you can lock the spindle for tightening/ removal
Because I don't want to weld En16, I would have to start with bigger stock, and machine it down, which would be costly 👍🏻
@@RalfyCustoms fair do Ralfy. Just curious is all. Great work, looking forward to the next vid, have a great weekend matey 👍
