  • Two lobster fishing vessels (crayboats) built by Dongara Marine - the 26 metre Holdfast and 22.4 metre Force of Nature - filmed together in April 2020.
Tebco Fisheries' Holdfast is a milestone in the history of Western Australia’s world-renowned commercial boatbuilding industry having been, at the time of its delivery in 2018, the largest capacity of any of the hundreds of high-speed crayboats built for Australia’s fishing industry over the decades. Owned by a family, which has been fishing commercially for some 50 years, Holdfast operates multi-day voyages, far offshore placing greater emphasis on vessel and systems reliability, seakeeping, and habitability for personnel onboard than more typical ‘day boats’.
Completed for another highly experienced operator in the Western Rock Lobster fishery (Geraldton-based David Perham) Force of Nature was completed in late April 2020. It is a 22.4 metre (74 foot) Southerly Designs monohull which, like Holdfast and other recent Dongara Marine fishing and pilot boat newbuilds, combines an aluminium hull with a composite superstructure.
