    Fabulous presentation, excellent visuals too !.... If i might just contribute ?
    In my view, the purpose of the solar hot water system is to reduce the need for energy consumption !
    The reason I mention this is because the solar needs to operate independently from the boiler .
    The D.H.W timer should be programmed to schedule a periodic " top up" of the storage tank to overcome any shortcomings of the solar performance during dull weather, and reduce legionella by bringing the water temperature up to a suitable level.
    My system for instance, runs twice daily to address water & / or heating, based on the Honeywell programmer settings.
    I also use an S-Plan too, using my combi boiler to provide heat, triggered by the room / cylinder stats leading eventually to the output of the microswitch in the zone valve(s).
    My kitchen hot tap still runs from the combi directly though !
    It has worked a treat for about 6 years and i find the boiler hardly needs to run between May and end of September due output of the 8 square meters of thermal solar panels on our roof.
    The boiler is still timed to come on but the cylinder stat is usually open by that time so no heat is required.
    Winter time is another story ... but the boiler still only needs to heat lukewarm water already warmed in the bottom of the cylinder.
    I often wish i had a second tank in summertime as it often shuts the pump off and stagnates until somebody takes a midday shower.
    A "destrat" pump and a few controls help to maximise efficiency.
    Brill animation ... Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you very much for your contribution… this particular system is aimed at the AM2 requirements ..
      You are clearly experienced with these systems. From my own research, the only thing I can be sure of is that there is no such thing as a “typical” system.

      There are currently just 4 .. I have some others that have been used for other projects and will be uploaded soon ( They just need a branding tweak) .. S Plan only will be uploaded soon .. hit subscribe and get the notifications 👍🏻😀

    Hi, is it a fail if you put a 13 amp fuse in. We was given two 13 Amos and one 3 amp fuse. And no specification.

    • @headsup4sparkies
      @headsup4sparkies  Před měsícem

      Typically a heating system would need the fuse connection unit (FCU) to be fitted with a 3 Amp fuse. FCU’s come with a 13 Amp fuse as standard

    Thanks for such an informative video.
    Just have a question that's been bugging me. Hopefully, you can help me with it.
    On the AM2S exam do you have to identify the switching line conductor and the permanent line conductor from the heating and hot water valves with brown sleeving? I would have thought that you would need to. But I've seen a few videos on S plan heating systems and no one seems to do it.

    • @headsup4sparkies
      @headsup4sparkies  Před 3 lety

      Hi …. My understanding is that the fixed installation basically stops at the Sw fused connection unit, and beyond that a wiring diagram is provided.
      I wouldn’t necessarily flag the Grey line, or Orange Sw/line as brown.
      That said, I am also fairly sure that you would not be marked down if you did decide to flag them with brown sleeving. The wiring diagram may put your mind at rest. Don’t forget that you also have the Solar Thermal control to include. Good luck ..

    great video sir...i'll be doing my AM2 soon...my question is this....I've notice that the programmer isn't feeding the hot water valve directly.... is the programmer used in these system different from the ones normally used on a S or Y plan system....

    • @headsup4sparkies
      @headsup4sparkies  Před 2 lety

      In a typical S Plan arrangement .. the Programmer switches the permanent feed to the cylinder stat, which then operates the DHW valve. With the solar thermal addition, the programmer only switches a feed from the solar thermal controller, directly to the DHW valve. A Y plan differs again, as it has a “hot water bias” which varies .. I will be posting a Y plan explainer video soon 👍🏻 .. Good luck with your AM2 .. I hope this Channel has helped

    • @headsup4sparkies
      @headsup4sparkies  Před 2 lety

      Also .. I’ve not shown it as such in the video, but most programmers require the installer to install a link from the feed - to the feed side of the Hot Water and Central Heating switches 😀

      @@headsup4sparkies ok thanks...because programmers wiring diagram shows it as if if the feed is linking both the heating and hot water
