    Ok. I was scared for a second. That initial set up gave no mech. Adv. But then you came through for the win. Science for the win!

    Good stuff. Keep these build videos coming. One of my favorite parts of brewing was setting up my home brew house.

      I malt a lot of wheat and corn, I use my honey house as a brew house but what i really need is a floor I can malt on.

    Congrats, Sarah! Two very essential brewery improvements. I have the AC but not the pulley system track in my shop (I mash with a 10 gallon cooler/mash tun). I keep the AC thermostat up around 80 unless I’m out there and crank it down when I start a brew day.

      I left it at 86 consistently and came back to a HUGE electric bill...now it stays off unless its babysitting beer

      @@FloraBrewing hmm, maybe a window unit was not the best choice since they are low efficiency (SEERs rating). Future upgrade option would be a high SEER mini-split but you will need a 240 volt circuit. I cool 700 square feet of garage in Arizona and can barely see a difference in my electric bill in the summer.

    Get a ratcheting pulley! You can pull it to any height and it'll stay there until you release it

    What are the dimensions for the table you are using for the Clawhammer 20gallon and do you have a link? Thanks!

  • @FermentationAdventures

    mechanical advantage for the win! I wish my ceilings in the basement were higher, so I wasn't so compressed lifting my basket.

  • @nickd533

    Heat pump or reverse cycle air units (name depends on where you live) are very efficient

    We called them wall shakers in Aussie.

  • @TheBrewQ
    @TheBrewQ Před 3 lety

    Is that a 120 volt unit or a 240 volt one? You’ll find the 240 volt units run a little bit more efficient. I keep my brewery space dialed down to 70 for my wine. But I did insulate my shed with expanding foam in the walls so that may be the difference between a garage versus my shed. It gets hot as hell here in Texas so I can relate. My AC is oversized for the space so it doesn’t have to run very long to chill the brewery down. Good call on a through the wall unit though because the split system units are costly to repair and break often from what I’ve been told by a couple of pros that I know.

  • @amarillohomebrewing4602

    I would suggest to never let the rope slide in your hands. Let he rope adjust from hand to hand. If any thing could go wrong, hand to hand release of the rope will prevent rope burn. May not happen, but ? ? ? ? happens.

    How are you going to get rid of the steam? Are you going old fashioned noisy extractor fan or steam condenser?

  • @palmtree5544
    @palmtree5544 Před 3 lety +1

    A mini split ac is much more efficient.

      Yup at least with the wall panels we've done! We're not done with the walls yet (still have about 20 feet-is to go) and there's an actual garage door that's completely ruining everything

    • @FloraBrewing
      @FloraBrewing  Před 3 lety +1

      Only because I told my Clawhammer friends that I would test it before August! It's going up eventually just needs more consideration...the location of the bolt holes in the wench are in the wrong spot so we need yet MORE steel
