I want a similar program to symmover , please.
Do you mean a thumb , not thumbs.?
@@md_ez I haven't used Symmover before, but it seems to be a program that can help move stubborn programs. Not sure if it has potential to cause problems as it tricks the system into thinking the files are still on C.
I cant thank you enough, i thought this was going to be far beyond my abilities. Perfect fix and easy to follow.

Great Job! Thanks!
Thank you
The explanation was clear and appeared to be helpful. Except that when I checked on the 90 apps installed on C, only one of them had a "Move" button that was not greyed out. All but about 5 were manufacturer (Dell) or Microsoft original factory installations. So the only option appears to be some mixture of uninstalling altogether (but how to be sure some peripheral-seeming app is not central?) or persuading the apps to allow installation somewhere other than the C-drive.
Thank you. I know although the technical ability is "apparently installed" it just doesn't seem to work for the majority of apps. But do not it's only for apps, not programs. So those installed by DELL would not have a move option most likely unless they built that in. Only Microsoft "Apps" may have the move option. Otherwise, just like you thought, you'd have to uninstall and reinstall to the second drive most likely.
@@TwinBytesInc Thanks Daniel. I am sure cloning the C-drive is the way to go.

I use my laptop for music production. I have a C: 87% filled with all pertinent material, but I also have a D: That holds 930GB thats only 3% full with basic info. Would merging the drive be a better option or trying to move them like you're showing here? Do you have a video on this?
Thanks for your question. There are a few solution. You could check this video on Cloning your drive to a larger one. czcams.com/video/hacGDlapWhc/video.html
Or search for large files like in this video and either delete or move those files to the large drive.
czcams.com/video/FH1AywEJ0R0/video.html
Merge two physical drives is more challenging and I don't have a video on it, but it can be done. Merging two partitions is easier, but two physical drives would need to be merged into one large one in my opinion. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the video... very helpful! My only question is how to reinstall on a different drive after uninstalling it on the orig. drive? Thanks again!
Thanks for your kind words and question. Some programs ask you where to install but most Apps default to C drive. In this other video I show how to change the default drive for App installs. czcams.com/video/9ocofwkdDVU/video.html

Merci Daniel. A very useful solution, it's only sad that some programs can't be moved.
As if some programs are so "arrogant" that they refuse to be moved to the (D) drive.
You're welcome. This is a basic method and there are others which I had planned to make videos on a while ago and just never did. I plan this year to do more.
thank you sir very helpful, new subscriber here from Philipines \m/
You're welcome. Thanks for subscribing and your kind words.
thank you so much ! does it improve the speed of the application ?
You're welcome and thank you for your question. It won't speed up the application unless it is moved to a faster drive. However, if your C drive is dangerously low on space, the entire computer can operate faster once you move enough programs and files.
Thanks bro
No problem
Thanks a lot, it helped me!
I had to ask that why are there so few apps in the list of Apps and Features?
I'm glad it helped you. Everyone will have a different amount of apps of different kinds installed on their computer.
@@TwinBytesInc Okay.
Why only some of the apps are movable to the other drive why not other apps.
@@Anonymous_6.9725 Unfortunately I'm not able to explain that. it seems to be in the design by each software developer individually. They just don't make the option.

What about the program files and program files(x86) stored in C drive? Need to transfer them to the new drive too??
if you really need that much more space, it's harder to do that without having to uninstall and reinstall the programs telling them to install to the other drive. But many programs force it onto C drive and program files don't take the largest amount of space usually. It is data that takes up most space.
Move what you can and if the drive isn't even 250GB you maybe constantly struggling for space. Better to just buy a bigger drive.
can you transfer games installed on C drive to D drive? Does this change any saved content on the games by doing this?
Thanks for your question. Any games other than Apps, they can't be transferred as easily. You would have to backup your game files, then uninstall the game and reinstall it. Assuming the game gives you the option of the installation directory, you can choose the D drive for where to install. Then restore your backed up game data to that new location. However, some games or other programs will force you to use the C drive and there is not much you can do about it other than get a larger C drive.
I would like to ask a simple question that you may or may not know the answer to. Google doesn't seem to understand the question, lol.
My question is this:
I play large video games which obviously take up a lot of space on the C-drive so I've installed a large D-drive to install all of the games on, freeing up a lot of space on the C-drive.
Having done that, now I would like to either move or reinstall the game launchers like Steam and EA and GOG on the D-drive as well.
Do you know if doing that would be a problem in the long run or should I leave those programs installed to the C-drive?
I think you need something like Steam Mover which I wanted to do a video on and never did. Maybe you should look at Steam Mover to move these game installs.
thx
np
Hi Daniel, please help me with my issue ----new to this stuff---- I moved all my data from D drive to an O drive. But now i don't get an option to delete my D drive -- . Is it may be all the info didn't get transferred? if so how i know what stuff didn't get transferred and how to transfer that?
Thanks for your question. If the D drive is truly empty which you should tell by just opening it, and you want to delete it. You have to go to Disk Management to delete the drive. Right click the start button and you can choose Disk Management. Right click the drive and delete partition if that's what you want to do. Hope that helps.
Hey, i changed downloads folder from c to e drive, now I can't undo it cause there's no location tab in properties.
Been searching for some answers now.
Any advice?
It is the way you are accessing the folder. Maybe you have it in E:\Downloads but it won't work probably unless it was E:\Users\UserName\Downloads. Try going to This PC and where it shows your library folders, including Downloads, check the properties on that downloads folder. Otherwise it is a registry hack.
@@TwinBytesInc thanks, the way i did it, was i saw there was downloads folder in both c and e drive actually, then i deleted the ones in e drive (becaus3 that's the one that don't have location tabs in properties) and then in c drive, it has a location tab.
So i think maybe there's something i did that i didn't properly see before, but it's okay now.
Thanks for the sharing 👍
@@ES-lx6vv Awesome!
how do you move the photos and videos??? like i moved it but the storage didnt move?
Hi Pok. I believe you are looking for what I discuss in this video czcams.com/video/9ocofwkdDVU/video.html
What if you wanna transfer things from your Desktop to D drive? How do you do that because whenever I do that all it does is makes a copy of all the things I copied and then transfered the copies to it not the actual thing on the desktop
Thanks for your question. I made a video about that here czcams.com/video/9ocofwkdDVU/video.html
> mfw literally none of the apps I want to move from C to D are unable to be moved for whatever reason
Is there another method that requires a more brute force approach, or am I just shit out of luck here?
Brut force would be a very complicated manual copying and pasting of the program files, and the editing the registry in multiple areas which no one may have a documentation on because it's not meant to be that way. Short answer, only option is clone to a larger hard drive.
they say modify but theres no option move/ can you help?
Sorry, if there is no move option, the only way is brute force methods I don't recommend. They don't always work and can cause other issues sometimes. Sometimes you just need to get a larger C drive.
Hey man, theres a FOLDER on my pc called WINDOWS. its taking up 28 gb on my C DISK. I wish to move it to the E drive (SSD). May i know how to move a FOLDER (windows) to the E drive? Is that possible?
hey there. Windows is meant to stay on C drive which is the root drive. With Windows updates and restore points, the drives that come with many computers today are fast micro disks that are so small it runs out of space shortly after starting to use it. you may have to upgrade your disk to a larger one if you can't move anything else. I had to do the same. Because if you're moving the Windows folder, that means you are basically moving everything to another drive. You are in essence, using a bigger drive anyway.
@@TwinBytesInc alright bro, can i give an update tomorrow to see of whether there is maybe still something i can move? Im 3 months into the pc world, im only learning this stuff
When I try to move stuff it says we couldn’t move (name of application)
Is there more to that error message? There maybe something blocking it. Maybe on a bad area of your hard drive, or some other program that relies on it and can't move it.

I need this info badly but I need written instructions - I can't follow a video.
Sorry I'm not able to spend the time to transcribe my videos but I do have CC enabled. I always recommend people watch the video all the way through first, then watch it a second time making notes if you want in your own words so it makes sense to you. You may use different wording. I always teach by allowing people to write their own notes. It allows you to absorb the information better and retain the information using notes you've written in your own words.
I have a question , please.
Hello, sure. What's your question?
what if ur app says that it cant even modify
Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately you can't do much about those apps. There maybe registry hacks but I don't recommend them as they can cause unforeseeable problems.
How do I do this with Files
I believe I answer that question in this video czcams.com/video/9ocofwkdDVU/video.html
are you using asus vivobook
No, It's an Asus ROG

Thanks for your comment. The button won't be available for all apps unfortunately. There are other ways to try forcing it which I can try making another video on.
My pc run into problem
Gatta love it when the Programs that have been plaguing the C Drive are all the ones that only want to stay on C Drive, even though they are Game Related... Stream Labs, DaVinci Resolve, VoiceMod, Stream Deck, and Rockstar Launcher are examples of the few things that will FOREVER remain on C Drive no matter how many uninstalls and Oddly worded insults I throw at my PC...... At some point, if its even possible, I may just end up getting a new C Drive and have some tech goblin come to my house in hopes he can move ALL the files from one C to the other C.... oooooooor just see if they can actually successfully just move my files to D instead lol.
The simple solution is just purchase a huge hard drive, and clone the small existing C drive to a larger new drive which will replace it. It will have everything exactly how you had it. You will notice nothing different other than tons more space. Only the cost of the drive and about 1 hour labour, mostly click and wait to clone the drive.
Would I have to get the entire "C Drive" file and put it into the new Drive? Or is it a case where im putting in things one at a time? I ask because I could see both ways taking an hour, but If I could just hold n let go into another drive then im kool with it.
Also ive never cloned something drive related, is it just as simple as "Copy To"? Or is there more to it. Like would you suggest using something like "Avast" to clone the stuff or is it simpler than that?
ALSO also.. Thank you... So... Much... Your saving my PC from more oddly worded insults. Lol
@@misterkillhappy Avast doesn't offer a clone program. You'd need to use something like Macrium Reflect, Acronis, or one of many others on the market. I have a tutorial already on cloning. You can search my videos.
it wont let me move my apps bcs i want to move epic games launcher
Unfortunately some of them won't allow you to move. I've tried some other tricks and hasn't worked yet for me. I'll make another video if I find a way. Even uninstall and reinstall with default location changed still doesn't seem to work.
@@TwinBytesInc i tried to uninstall it then reinstall it in the d drive but it just goes back to the c drive
@@jay-yt3740 Yes, that's what I mean. Some programs just insist on the C drive. I am not aware of another work around at this time. Sorry.
i tried it my just cut and pasting and i think i broke my computer. what do i do
How is your computer broke? You mean just that app doesn't work or the entire computer is messed up? You could try cut and paste back where it was but may not work still. Then you have the probably reinstall the app. if the whole computer is messed up, try a system restore point.
@@TwinBytesInc i was too many files deep by the time i realized what i had done. no way to remember all the files i changed. almost none of my applications were opening and apparently im the only person this stupid cause no ones reporting this problem on their end. ended up whipping my shit clean and reinstalling windows 10. in the process of getting back to where i was
@@extratoastable5678 First thing to try before whipping is System Restore but sounds like maybe too late or that didn't work either. Sorry but not too many options to fix something like that.
@@TwinBytesInc I’ve got it under control now as I fucked it up at night and was able to re build my whole computer basically. I’ve got a fat d drive too so I didn’t lose anything that wasn’t already lost. Everything’s running fine now it’s just annoying

I couldn't move anything i wanted to move :(
Sorry, it is very limited but it does provide an easy solution for that which can be moved. Manually uninstall and reinstall to the new drive, or you may need to clone the C drive to a larger one.
@@TwinBytesInc i uninstalled and reinstalled like 5 programs/games....they didn't work after that bruh
@@RealBigWaffle Apps will always default to C drive. Other programs that are non-apps, usually give you the option to choose where it will install. The only other option is clone to a larger drive. There's unfortunately no magic answer other than registry hacks etc which I never recommend as you can destroy your system.
