neat trivia: "mill" comes from magic: the gathering, where the term was coined based on the card Millstone. the magic community has called it mill for ages, but only within the past couple years did "mill" become an official keyword in the game.
That is interesting actually. What did the Millstone card do?
@@DKQuagmire not quite. You have to pay two mana, and tap the millstone (turning it sideways) to activate the ability, which basically means that you can only use it once per turn.
It's far from being a good card, but it was unique enough at the time for the term "mill" to stick
@@PolskiSuzeren the term sticked because it was often the win condition of control decks for many years. The rest of the deck was a mix of counterspells, card drawing and removal.
@@PolskiSuzeren it was very good for a long time. It was my entire win condition when I was playing U/W Turbo Chant.
I remember saying mill back when i was a teenager in early 2000's playing PTCG? 🤷♂️

You think that's bad? Try centiscorch Mill in expanded. Literally half a deck in one turn.
i've lost to durant back in 2011. back when the HG/SS were still legal in the standard format.
its even worse in that format as they have cards like Junk Arm, for recycling trainer cards, and Rotom for switching prize cards on an ability

Seeing this deck brings back memories of the mill meta in mtg and running blue green with 4 copies of brain storm so when he milled me I won the game
If only you knew how worse mill has gotten, theres a one cost blue creature called ruin crab, everytime you play a land each opponent mills 3 for each crabbo, thats going to destroy a friend group for sure

Brain storm doesn't win if you mill out - it would actually cause you to lose

I don't play Pokemon TCG! I play Magic: The Gathering a lot though, and I actually played a mill deck for a while. Gotta say, I have no clue what's going on except that you're making a lot of kids mad right about now. Keep up the good work
Id been meaning to update my list when Chilling Reign came out, but I couldn't think of what else to add besides Peonia. This list gives me some ideas.

I took the old Durant mill deck to an expanded format tournament back when night march was big and if people didn’t know what you were playing you won in like 3-4 turns because they burned all there cards so fast.
this was the ONE mechanic i was really hoping they wouldnt bring back ffs. Vietnam flashbacks to 2012 currently occuring

Idk about 2012 but I remember when the wailord ex mill deck was good
@@Diego-vt3kv this durant is basically an exact reprint of a durant from the black and white era, except the devour attack only used to cost 1 energy back then. Also, we had pokemon collector (basically a pokemon fan club with 3 basics instead of 2) so turn 1 four durant was extremely common. ALSO you could start milling 4 cards a turn going first since you could play supporters and attack turn 1 going first. It was so annoying to play against, especially since stage 2 decks were more common and it doesnt take much milling to make them useless

Yooo this list is awesome! i've been playing Durant Mill in my local tournaments and doing really well!
Durant decks are good for when you finished the prize ladder. If you win or lose with a few KO's, the ladder won't go up either way.
Ill post my list on this deck later..i love this deck its so fun and challenging to try to win..and when i do..i love it

I love theme decks (my goal is to get every one of them) and j remember when i auto-milled myself with the Charizard deck
I almost won a match with Shadow Rider the other day against this deck. I literally needed ONE MORE TURN to attack for 1 more prize card but they hit the deck out with only 3 cards remaining. I was actually appalled at how well we played! Great deck friend!

I have battled so many of these decks but never lost to it, I have been using rapid strike Blaziken gmax and rapid strike zeraora.
I too am a fan of the burn.
this is very similar to the deck my bud made a year or so back. Just 4 ants and hundreds of ways to get them back

In a game where hand reset matters the most, mill is deadly even if it just 4 cards per turn
1rst) 4 card is looks like 10 attack to win,
2nd) no damage at all on opponent Pokémon
3) draw cards is not really mill cards here. Card from hand can easily reset on deck (this is why I said 10 attacks)
And DCE cost is super expensive from this attack...
@@dimitriskontoleon6787 Yeah but you know in Pokemon you almost always needs specific cards for win con, unless you bring a counter even 4 mill per turn can be threatening if it hits your resources for win con

another fun deck is just guzzlord gx and the rest is only energy and trainer cards
you´ll have a 180 dmg ready in the second or third turn guaranteed

Is this a good competitive deck or just one of those fun to use decks?
I am not that sure if the reset stamp is really needed in this deck. After all it is a straight stall/mill deck rather than a control one. Besides that everything is cool.
Sometimes it’s good to stamp / gust so that you can try to mill your opponents switch cards
How can you lose friends if you don’t have any to begin with

I’m playing in the current standard. So I have 2 Snorlax, 4 Durants, 3 Goldeen, 2 or 3 Seaking (depending on the build).

Those dragon shield perfect fit sleeves you use, what are they called? There’s so many on both websites. I don’t know which to get.
I have used the regular perfect fits, the smokes, and the side loaders, they’re all fantastic!
You couldnt use this in expanded tho due to the stamp and the Lt. Cards does this matter i have always done expanded or can i swap them out for something else

Bug types share a type with grass in the card game.
Just the same, Fighting, Rock, and Ground are all Fighting types.
I don't recall everything, but that's how it is in the TCG.
