Alicia de Larrocha recorded only a few Debussy (Deux Arabesques and Clair de Lune), but she played a good deal of Debussy repertory: half-dozen Preludes (Book I & II); L'Isle joyeuse; Toccata (Pour le piano); La soiree dans Grenade (Estampes); Docteur Gradus ad Parnassum and Golliwogg's Cake-Walk (Children's Corner); Le petit verger; En Blanc et Noir (for two pianos) with her husband Juan Torra; Sirenes (arr. for two piano by Ravel), also with Juan Torra.

In my opinion, is the best version of this masterpiece, Mme de la Rocha had a wondwrfull palette where the warm colours bring new life to every piece.

Nous les français adorons Debussy, nous l' aimons et le vénérons presque;
il représente à lui seul notre identité nationale, il a créé à mon sens la musique française contemporaine et vraiment identitaire de notre condition. Alicia De Larrocha sert très bien l' oeuvre, fluide, tout en ruissellement, typiques de Debussy...avec une certaine notion de féerie brillante, de magie orchestrale !
Nous pouvons reconnaître la complexité de ce morceau qui pour nombre de pianiste est injouable ! Mais Alicia le tient.
Le Flow. Le "mouvement infini" dirait Samson François, ici est en ébullition !

Le son n'est pas trop bien capté mais pour tout le reste c'est éblouissant : le toucher, l'équilibre des plans sonores, les phrasés, les nuances. Toute la pièce évolue harmonieusement vers l'extraordinaire explosion de lumière qui la conclut. Un grand moment de piano, une immense pianiste.

For me both renditions are equal. Only the life performance from 1982 sounds a little " far away". I never heard this work better played than by AdL.

Rushed and too many mistakes. No regard for the dynamics either. Like she needed to go to the powder room immediately afterwards.
