The reason hip-hop pushes the narrative that its a “Young Man’s Sport” is because those are the easiest to manipulate, no other genre does it, labels can manipulate poor young black artist and make them go against there OG’s because once artist reach mid 20’s to 30 they start to understand the business and record labels want to wash, rinse & repeat with un-informed/un-educated black artist, but in Rock, Country, the older you are the more respected and more money you get and more accolades you receive, G eazy and Justin Bieber will never hear there to old to make music ever. Now the narrative is changing because it doesn’t make sense. Good music is good music, Hip-Hop mostly samples old school records by artist in there 50’s and 60’s if those artist stopped making records in there 20’s there would be no music to sample to create the foundation hip-hop was birthed upon in the first place, this was a good episode.
This true but the average 40 year old rapper who has been rich n famous since late teens early 20s is so far removed from the streets they lost touch n have a hard time staying relevant. These dudes really been in the streets up until 5years ago so they have allot of inspiration for their pens. But 100% it makes sense that younger artist are easier to manipulate.
@@actowing4958 you don’t have to be in the streets to make good music, Kanye, Drake, Jay Z, Kendrick, Cole, Nas, Andre 3000 all aren’t in the streets and are far removed, being musically inclined has nothing to do with being “street” Jay-Z dropped his first album damn near 30 and his best music was created from 30-40+ & I still think he drops heat, Michael Jackson didn’t peak at 40 neither did prince or James brown, music is music, art is self expression, your speaking of artist who put them selves in a box and marketed them selfs in a way that if they changed there fans would flee because there known for that “one thing” and became characters of themselves, plus there so stuck and believe they are who they betray to the public there afraid of change, there fore phasing themselves out, you get old in music when you don’t evolve, and fans don’t see change/evolution, dope artist are dope when they can be 100% honest on where they are in life and what there dealing with in that moment unapologetically & delivered with conviction, getting old isn’t a choice but getting older is is, you can make timeless art. you can increase your value as you age like luxury wine, watches, super cars, & painted art does, only in hip-hop they convince you your value is lower as you age, but why does the catelog increase in value for the pinnacle artist they say should stop? it’s only marketed to us that way, no other demographic, point blank.

Growing up in buffalo I remember seeing Benny back in like 2009 dropping fire that just never made it to the masses. Buffalo legends right here, The fact that they finally made it, is amazing.
