@@Crackback2k Interesting, for me I usually find it's a sign that it's about to go out haha! My cigars seem to extinguish really quickly and easily for some reason, even though I puff consistently and frequently. Maybe it's because I smoke outside
I find that some cigars should be purged mid-smoke as well. Gets rid of the acidic taste they might develop after a while. I will usually purge at least once in the middle of a smoke and once if I have to relight. it hasn't failed me yet.
Great vid Mazz… I tend to also only purge when the cigar goes out on me because I find when it goes out the impurities of the burnt ash as it gets cold leads to unpleasant tastes and smells when I relight it. Blowing theough the cigar expels a lot of the “dead ash” and allows for a clean re-light. Saving some of the remaining good flavours and aromas from being completely lost on relight. 😊🤙🏽
It's your cigar and you can do as you wish with it, but you're correct in that we don't recommend relighting a cigar because after it goes out for more than 30-45m or so the flavor will be drastically altered when relit and is unlikely to be enjoyable.
I purge when I feel it’s getting too hot because I have a habit of smoking too fast or if im going to leave it for a little while blow off the stale smoke that’s still in the cigar! Learned that from Cubans
Some sticks aren't completely aged when you get them. If you get one that is "off" or, bitter or, just not like you expected from smoking them in the past. You can purge it. Or..you could just do it as a fun little experiment. It can slightly alter the flavor profile. However, for any of these..you need to continue to blow steadily through it until it stops "flaring".
I tried a sampler churchill vs a Tatiana cigar and as a beginner I can already tell the difference between cheap and premium. The Churchill tasted like crap and carbon. The flavored rum Tatiana tasted and smelled so good please keep putting out more recommendations vids.
I think you’re thinking of our “Cold Draw” video. Cold draw is when you draw on the cigar prior to lighting to get an essence of the blend. Purging prior to lighting isn’t necessary.
Hey, so I’m new to cigars and I would like to know what kind I would like, so I like sweet sugary things like milk chocolate not dark chocolate and I also like a little cinnamon. Could you tell me what cigar would be best for my based on that?
I’m new into cigars, long time smoker, and I’ve had cigars before, but recently started having them on weekends. Are you supposed to take the label off? Or leave the paper band on? I’ve been smoking these kinda cheaper Acid blondies, they are like 7$ a cigar. They are short and skinny compared to most others and the paper band is like halfway down the cigar. Do I rip that off or leave it on? I’ve been ripping them off
I have a question. If I got it right, purging a cigar means blowing into it to kinda get the old smoke and impurities out. I purge a little before every puff. Is that okay?
Can you list a link to quality high end torch cigar lighters I have some classic old school lighters but want a torch lighter with quality look and feel have 500 dollar budget
Purging would still help expel all the smoke that's gathered in the cigar. We don't recommend cutting the end off since it risks damaging the rest of the cigar, and it can also wear down your cutter faster.
If you’re encountering that problem consistently then your cigars might be overly humidified. Try dry boxing before you smoke, set your cigar outside of its humidor for a few hours before you enjoy it
I'm not trying to be a jerk, but after 30+ years of smoking fine cigars, I've learned a few things - if you let your cigar go out, it will never taste the same. I always take the band off before I smoke. It's never unraveled, and I don't want to try and get it off when the cherry is that close to my fingers. I've blind tested toasted and untoasted, and there's really no difference. I think so much of this is just a way to add mystique to cigars.
Purge after lightning with butane. I purge before putting a cigar out, to save for later. I also purge a few times in the final third to eliminate the bitter.

When a good cigar starts tasting bitter or just bad, I find purging almost always improves the flavor.
Sometimes it's from it being too hot, give a minute to cool down and it helps too!

I purge my cigar when it starts to taste a little harsh. It reenergizes the cigar and makes it easier to smoke. Try it. Worth it.
Have a guess what I'll be trying tonight... fantastic advice once again...
