Its like watching a Train company test old unused tracks for usage. Interesitng to since I've always wondered what those locations might be with a train passing by.

Really cool mod although it is completely illogicial to have a freight train transporting good throughout 1 city, slowly.
As with any model railroading, such are the virtues of suspension of disbelief :D
I don't think i ever saw an RPG that has a good railway representation. The layout and detailing is pointless in GTA 5, even if not as bad as in GTA SA. The best part is that jard where u have to track down a thug with that dog at the single-player beginning, there u can see some better details, points, and equipment. The abandoned station, and closed sidings are not bad ideas, but overall the system is stupid: left-hand drive, pointless signals, (live)tracks not connected properly, no marks of ever having a passenger service/stop/station/platform, no station or a siding in Sandy shores, trains won't even fit to some parts, too tight curves, tracks lead from nowhere to nothing... ect. BUT my biggest issue is: WHAT are those old British freight-cars doing in the game?
1: as with model railroading, there are virtues to suspension of disbelief. I think for what it is they did pretty good representing things to scale with the world.
2: I agree with you on some things. While it's okay to have some industrial spurs represented as "abandoned", several of them seem 'active' with freight cars on them, yet are completely cut off by paved-over crossings. Wtf!
Also, yeah, the mainline curves way too sharp at Rancho and Elysian Island. The grade is abruptly sharp in a couple Los Santos spots, and somewhere along Mount Gordo the line has what I think is a 10% uphill grade! Everywhere else is imo ok compared to most RPGs.
3: some platforms do have poor placement, like the one at the quarry crossover diamond. Also, the quarry should have a full loading "balloon" loop
And why are there no mineral hoppers there? and why no logging spur near Paleto Bay with spline cars? Why no passing sidings on mainline, such as at Sandy Shores and along the San Chianski? Also, Sandy Shores would be a good place for an abandoned industrial spur or siding.
4: it would've been cool if the Mirror Park railyard was complete with a north half, and have a north lead track pass along/under the freeway and connect to the west mainline track by the wind farms just before Sandy Shores.
5: it would be cool if there was a west coast passenger only line like the Coastal Starlight.
6: I actually love the inclusion of British rolling stock in a couple spots. I think it's a cute easter egg and I laughed when I found them. What I don't like is that most of the bumpers are incorrect European bumpers. I was more upset by this when I found that, in Buccaneer Terminal, there are actually TWO tracks which end with the correct American style bumpers, the only ones in the game. All others are European. I don't know why the devs did this.
7: More Locomotive types would've been cool... have the GP's parked at or workin Mirror Park yard and Cypress Flats, Dash9s pulling on the main, and at the docks and Paleto Bay yard maybe have an Alco S6 at least parked as though it works those areas.
Ooh, and I also nearly forgot, yeah I agree with you on the issue of trackside equipment, especially switches for the points. The actual levers.
They are nearly non existent.
And the few I did find, 1: are placed on the wrong side and too close, and 2: are not a part of the terrain! If you hit them with a vehicle, you will "uproot" them.
@@hozkahilgarri3936 I know its only a game, and compromises are necessary, but the railway is the one big detail that is so "mystical" to all game designers that even train based games can rarely do "right", or even to be acceptable. And as a railway engineer +as someone who studied architecture, I just can't unsee these things.
Sometimes designers just get lazy like GAYjin for Warthunder, where the railway was OK-ish on old maps, but on the new-er maps... like if i were in the Fallout series. (Its just there)
When the train drove through here at 9:21 you could actually see another locomotive when the camera looked over as the train passed and the british rollingstock is nice but it feels like a gap in time with what seems to be modern traincars next to old rollingstock in what seems to be a british yard but yeah definitley a easter egg

Well... the author didn't update the mod... as a result the tracks don't work anymore. everything is there, but the game keeps routing the train via the default route.

Never mind, it does work, the .rar file got corrupted during downloading and didn't have the required trains1.dat in it, which actually tells the train where to go.

Its a mod called "Train Driver Mod Gta 5" then u can just press f if your in the near of a train like in a car!

It was an extra Mod where the trains had more than 50+ wagons!
80 cars isn't very long. Also, the correct term is cars, not wagons. The average (American) train length is roughly 100-120 cars.
