I’m Finnish and for some reason Mobile has been one of my top destinations to go to if i ever go to the states again. Nice seeing what the city offers!
@@Ryan-ci6es yeah huh if you wear the wrong socks youll get shot and if they don't get you the homeless will! Theyll come after you with broken bottles and knives and take all your money and make you wash their clothes! Oh and dont get me started on what theyll do to you behind the bushes!
I have been all over the world, but some of the happiest days of my life were spent in Mobile, Alabama. I will never forget the place, or the wonderful people I met there. Thank you Mobile.
Best representation of my town. They were the only ones to point out the good things about us. Our ducks, our waterways, our parks, our tourist attractions. Other people want to point out that the city is filled with hate and guns and you should fear walking in the neighborhoods at night. That's not what this town is. The video shows it
Having been born in the South this almost makes me cry. I miss the Celtic and African culture that made my life there so sweet. Nothing's perfect...but God's will, I'm moving back! An excellent video!
I would say that Mobile is a true Gulf Coast city more than a Southern one. Yes, it is Southern but being from the Gulf Coast myself and having lived in other parts of the South I can say that the Gulf Coast has it's own unique culture which is very different from the rest of the South.
I'm from Maryland. We've been this city before just couple days to see the USS Alabama Battleship & The Gulf of Mexico while were in a road trip in 2012. My longtime dad loves it their & i love it too. Wish we move here 🙂
Being a Mobilian is like being born with a birth mark. You can't wash it off! Once a Mobilian- ALWAYS a Mobilian. I love it here. Over the years my career has taken me to different places for extended periods, but I always held this great city close to my heart. Thank God I'm back home for good. To me the best feeling is coming out of the Bankhead tunnel onto Government street. I get the feeling of "Whew, I can relax now". If you were blindfolded and air-dropped into almost any other city in America and took the blindfold off, you would probably have no idea where you are. Not so with Mobile. I love my fair town, warts and all. Thirty years ago I had to leave for 3-5 years, I remember seeing the skyline disappear in my rear view mirror and crying like a little girl. It even feels good to come back after a vacation. I wish everyone could feel this way about their city. I guess I'm one of the fortunate people who is exactly where he belongs.
Such a good story or inspiring for someone like me who wants to find a new metro area to call home in the future. I am looking at various cities in the sunbelt. In AL, Montgomery and Huntsville are options and maybe Mobile now too. In Portland OR metro area and want to leave. Looking for friendly people and better weather. Even if economy is not excellent, I like the more of a chance factor due to less people moving there vs say a place like Asheville or Portland.
Paul, I relate to your every word. I grew up in Los Angeles and moved to Mobile when I was 21. I knew immediately it was my REAL home. 6-1/2 years ago I had to move to Colorado because of my husband’s work. My soul constantly longs to go home.
Meltin John without a doubt buddy. I miss the green lush land of the south, the beautiful waters of the Gulf, the rivers and waterways, but most of all, the people of the South. There’s no place more kind and friendly and welcoming.

Mobiles amazing. It’s a place of many cultures and I’d say the best time to come would be Mardi Gras. We’ve got a beautiful beach called Dauphin Island but you could go across the bay and there’s tons of beaches there too. Mobiles great id definitely recommend visiting.

I was looking at all these vids from like Denver, Reno, etc... and I too decided to search my home. Really good perspective on the city, and it makes me proud to have the diversity and ideals that we have. It seems like so many places could use a little of what we have.

After couple days in Mobile, we went our next stop to Louisiana. But we haven;t gotta chance to see New Orleans. We only spend couple days in Baton Rouge while were on road trip in 2012. Yes, Mobile is a beautiful city. Love from Maryland 🙂
If I lived in Alabama, Mobile is where I’d want to live because its history and Creole culture are the most similar to that of my home in South Louisiana. When that area was a part of the Louisiana territory, my ancestors settled in the Mobile area before eventually migrating to just south of New Orleans. Are there any good historical sites you recommend? One of my ancestors was a Frenchman stationed at Fort Tombeckbé (spelling?) and Fort Toulouse. And while I’ve grown up with Mardi Gras, it’d be cool to visit Mobile during Carnival season to experience it in the city where Mardi Gras was first held in the Western Hemisphere.
