Nintendo could restart the entire market for GBC, re-releasing original games and DX updates for games we never got originally.
Clone consoles have been a thing for forever. As long as they don't user nintendo parts or schematics, they are totally legal. They haven't taken down any in the past. Doubt they will now with this.

Something close is in the works unfortunately you have to transfer the CPU and RAM chips from a donor gba board. I'm sure a standalone aftermarket board will come in the future.

It worked for me on Firmware 1.06. I've seen reports that Firmware 1.08 might accidentally break the link support, so keep that in mind if you make the leap.

Apparently, you can get close with Funnyplaying parts with only 2 chips that need to be taken from an original system. You can be sure Funnyplaying is working on an FPGA version of those two chips and will then have a new GBA available!

That's a fun game to play when you don't understand inflation, or market changes. If you do, your whining becomes a "I walked 10 miles to school, uphill both ways, when I was a kid" type scenario.
Parts are limited and original motherboards have to be stripped from a donor Gameboy for any custom project. This assures Gameboy games can be played on native (non-emulated) hardware for the indefinite future.

For less than 100 $, you can get a miyoo mini plus, it’s the same thing, but it can also run nes, snes, gba, genesis, and ps1 games, ans you don’t have to build it by yourself.

I hope they allow people to alter the name of the console when it starts cuz we don't want to play og gbc on consoles that are not original but at the same time we don't like the old batteries and old screen of the gbc , We just like the other parts
nintendo has literally never gone after clone consoles b4. the analogue pocket and the gb boy color were just fine. funnyplaying has been selling aftermarket gameboy shells, screens, etc for years without any issues and this is just those plus an fpga.
I think I'll just stick with my Game Boy Color. Edit: I think I might have phrase this wrong, the fp-gbc simply feels me with a sense of dread for some reason.
I wish people would get devices like these instead of mangling and fucking destroying existing gameboys with their tacky and superfluous mods. The people on the gameboy subreddit dont even play the gameboys they mangle. I know this because I did a poll and asked. It's honestly disgusting, destroying gaming history for no reason.

Wells. I remember beating Resident Evil Gaiden using it while vacationing in Tenn. a little over 20 years ago.
On one hand I understand purists when it comes to the "retro" handhelds I grew up with but on the other - why? There are SO many devices that can play roms on high quality screens - even your phone. Roms are litteral dumps verbatim (unless they have been tampered with) of the cartridge you are playing. To put, this is a rather expensive way to play old games you can very much get for free these days. This is excellent for a hobbyist and cool but it's a whole bunch of why's. You are also now relying on the third party boards - we arent exactly seeing the long term performance here compared to original Nintendo. Outside a nice screen - this seems overpriced for third party hardware (discount code included) just to get a "nostalgic" feel. The nostalgic market is actually kind of disgusting for playing off peoples memories. As being really active in the emulation community - I really think money is spent better on those devices.
Nostalgia is used to brainwash people into believing some genuinely horrible things. _Thats_ disgusting. This may be dumb, sure, but disgusting is a bit of a stretch.
You can play GG roms on the GBA, or DS that support GBA carts. The EZ-Flash Omega is the widest supported cart with GG emulation. It's really smooth and clean looking
But the motherboard doesn't come with everything you'd have to use parts from an original gba motherboard and it'd require soldering(from what I've seen)

You can probably flash custom firmware at your own risk to achieve that. That said, the developers probably avoided that to prevent lawsuits.

does the dpad register inputs well? most aftermarket gbc dpads don't but literally no one talks about it in videos like these

nintendo has literally never gone after clone consoles b4. the analogue pocket and the gb boy color were just fine. funnyplaying has been selling aftermarket gameboy shells, screens, etc for years without any issues and this is just those plus an fpga.

I think the gameboy not being backlit probably saved us from a lot of the problems kids have now lol using the worm light made it so you were basically reading a book

@@TrillMurray Thank you of reminding me of the worm light! Ah that green clip on rubbery alien wormy thing with the red circle where the light came from that looked kinda like something from H.G. Wells. I remember beating Resident Evil Gaiden using it while vacationing in Tenn. a little over 20 years ago.
On one hand I understand purists when it comes to the "retro" handhelds I grew up with but on the other - why? There are SO many devices that can play roms on high quality screens - even your phone. Roms are litteral dumps verbatim (unless they have been tampered with) of the cartridge you are playing. To put, this is a rather expensive way to play old games you can very much get for free these days.
This is excellent for a hobbyist and cool but it's a whole bunch of why's. You are also now relying on the third party boards - we arent exactly seeing the long term performance here compared to original Nintendo.
Outside a nice screen - this seems overpriced for third party hardware (discount code included) just to get a "nostalgic" feel. The nostalgic market is actually kind of disgusting for playing off peoples memories.
As being really active in the emulation community - I really think money is spent better on those devices.
Nostalgia is used to brainwash people into believing some genuinely horrible things. _Thats_ disgusting.

You can play GG roms on the GBA, or DS that support GBA carts. The EZ-Flash Omega is the widest supported cart with GG emulation. It's really smooth and clean looking

Think they have a motherboard and shells/screens so iim sure t's possible but probably cost a good bit
But the motherboard doesn't come with everything you'd have to use parts from an original gba motherboard and it'd require soldering(from what I've seen)

@@jbassettbassett8489 hey man..I don't either but last weekend tried my first mod. It was just a drop in IPS but it was fun and for my first time..no real issues other than when I changed from original buttons..it's difficult to tighten my shell all the way.
