In this Barth video, it appears that the membrane is almost like a silicone substrate and not rubber as we can see how thin the stretch substrate is. Unless there is heat used to form a product, I imagine it makes no difference whether the stretch substrate is silicone vs. rubber. The biggest contributing factor to operating a membrane press is selection of the correct adhesive and how much negative pressure (Bar) the machine is set to operate. The more pressure to bare on the product, the better and more sure the result. Membrane presses operate with pressure in 6 directions (more than a pancake approach) and therefore one has to allow for supporting 3 dimensional products with compression resistance in all directions. If not supported properly the bed on a membrane press can we warped causing damage to the machine. The surest way to achieve an even lay of adhesive on the product is with a adhesive pot applicator equipped with a main rubber roller with a vibrator roller that can be engaged and disengaged as applying the adhesive demands.

Wie lange muss die runde Form in der Presse bleiben.

Don't you have to worry about glue squeeze out?

You will have some adhesive squeeze out and the membrane may have some on it, but, the talcum powder (common self item) helps to resist this. Refer to my video on a Barth membrane press model (Vincent Rolfe). The PVA is easy to use. The PU dispersion adhesive is water proof for laminating sheets or bending multiply products. The PU dispersion adhesive has a shelf life and is rather expensive compared to PVA. The PU dispersion is stronger than PVA . Get the PVA from Henkel or Jawat and it is more fluid and easier to roll or spread on a product. For 3 dimensional products start by increasing the holding time if you are bending multiply products. The advertised holding times are actually longer no matter what the pressure your vacuum pump puts out. Temperature in the shop in a winter-northern climate can effect holding times. For odd shaped and 3-D products, the membrane press will let the dust settle on your pile of clamps. The most critical part of using the membrane press is getting the right amount of the correct adhesive on the product and learning what holding time is adequate for what you are doing.
