- You missed THIS in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The 1959 Ford Galaxie that the Manson family drives in the movie is a replica, but it almost wasn’t. The real car used by the Manson family on the night of the Tate LaBianca murders still exists, and the owner even offered it to be used in the film. The film’s director, Quentin Tarantino, thought that this was too creepy even for him though and refused.
#tarantino #moviedetails #movielogic
That's kinda surprising, considering Mr.Tarantino is such a perfectionist.
and a creep
@@greatrome9219 allegedly*
@@greatrome9219 I mean he likes feet, it’s the like one constant thing with female characters in his movies
well he is a fetishist of foots and cars - so making bond with that car wouldn't be good for him i think ;]
His portrayal of Bruce Lee was anything but perfect.
I mean it's crazy how we missed this Behind the scene story while watching the film.
😂😂
Right?? It’s insane lol
Went way over my head
That made me laugh thanks!
I feel so stupid
He might’ve destroyed it like that Martin guitar in the hateful eight
Still, the owner could have send him to court
What if Tarantino didn't use the original because he wanted to write a scene where he destroys the car?
@@hansolobutimdead well he could have used the real one for scenes that wouldn’t require damage to the car and a replicated stunt car for destroying.
@@michaelcarrasquillo4781 Feels like a whole ton of work to destroy a car. Didn't have as much a wow factor as killing a blinded girl in a pool with a flamethrower
@Han Solo I'll never forget during the first time I watched it how the entire audience simultaneously burst out cheering and clapping when Leo got the flamethrower out of his pool house. Truly the last great movie theatre moment I experienced before the pandemic...
Watching that movie was a remarkable experience. It captured me more than any period movie that I'd ever seen. I left the theatre feeling like I'd spent a couple of hours hanging out in 1969.
Period? 1969?
Just finished it
Wasn’t my type of movie I was kind of hoping for a plot
Same here friend it felt like I travel back in a time machine to 1969 and hung out for a while. I was a teenager at the time. Sharon Tate’s cousin went to my school. Sad and happy times going on at the same time. As Jim Morrison put it Strange Days!! 😵💫
Me too ! I loved it and think it is incredibly done for many reasons. I didn't like Pulp Fiction that much. I marvel at this one, it is a masterpiece. In the last scenes, especially the torching, I was on my feet yelling YES !!! I have read alot about that summer and I love that a more fitting end was fashioned for those evil nasty creatures. Wish it were real. But, I love the movie for more than this, for what he did with the main characters and their inspirations too and the time etc. Bravo !!
@@krypticviper1613 I admit it not a movie for everyone. The plot in this movie takes place behind what you are being shown. If you followed the Manson trial or read the excellent book by the prosecuting attorney/investigators then you will understand how fantastic this retelling is. This movie takes a horrible event and in a tiny way gives the victims a closure they never had a chance to get. imho.
Damn, we missed something that was almost in the film. How could we have missed that.
We're all so careless !
You’re right! I totally missed that car they didn’t use in the movie.
When even Mr. Tarantino thinks its creepy, then its creepy.
That makes sense. He was going on and on in an interview about how he wanted Sharon Tate remembered for something more than being murdered so it’s understandable that he wouldn’t want to glorify any of those psychos in any way.
Well Said
But did he succeeded?
Nope
@@harsh_kay8840
Today, because of this popular and well received fable, Sharon is now known more for who she was alive than what happened to her.
@@harsh_kay8840 I don't have to hide my answer under 100 spaces... Yes, yes he did.
It was probably because of the priceless guitar that was smashed on the set of the hateful 8.
Uh yes, how could I miss that one scene where they paused the movie and told us this detail
@@bitlashripad8721 literally in the first second, the title and the caption he says "you missed THIS" no ones hating it's just weird why he keeps saying we miss stuff instead of saying did you know
@@waaa7732 my bad then 😞
@@bitlashripad8721 it's a 20 seconds clip and the highlight we are talking about is literally before the 0:1 mark...
How could you get it wrong when writing the comment takes at least five times as much as double checking the fact?
@@rossworkshop2799 my mistake , I have deleted my comment
If they ended up using the original car I'm sure it would have increased the insurance premium. More importantly I doubt they would be allowed to do any restoration so it would have to look just as beat as it is today.
I agree with Tarantino on this. He does crazy things to get authenticity in his films but using the exact car glorifies the killers too much.
If Q backs away from something, he got a reason
Didn't back away from salma hayak
So Manson himself wasn’t involved in the murders? Only his associates?
Oh he killed people himself. But those particular people who sent his 'family members' to do @@BingoNamo-gb8pz
You missed this, when Rick Dalton calls it a Mechanical Asshole, it's a reference to Christine the killer automobile from the John Carpenter movie.
Not to mention Tarantino didn’t want another priceless artefact getting smeshed on his set after the incident with the guitar in hateful 8
That’s saying a lot since this guy had such a devotion to making the strangling scene in Inglorious Basterds realistic, that he actually did it himself. That’s Tarantino’s hands in that scene, not Christoph Waltz’s.
He probably didn't want another unique museum piece in the same movie as Kurt Russell .
According to Scott of Dearly Departed Tours, the actual car is owned by a collector who prefers to remain anonymous...but it was used in the Helter Skelter movie. Another collector, interviewed on camera by Scott, owns the replica from Once Upon a Time.
That is really hard to believe that anything is too creepy for Tarantino
When you’ve got something that Quentin thinks is too much, you know it’s too much.
Said the man who actually had Kurt Russell smash a priceless antique guitar that's centuries old in The Hateful Eight.
Seriously though....who cares
Yes, this is very deeply explained in the movie in a very forgettable scene and that's how we missed it. It was DEFINITELY explained in the movie. 100%.
Damn if Tarantino thought something was fucked then it must’ve been FUCKED
Yeah man, the Sharon Tate murder was so sad. Using the murderers car for the sake a movie would be messed up.
Was he superstitious? Afraid of bad karma?
@@janlundberg5924
See the comment right above yours.
Don't cry in front of the Mexicans!
It's official old buddy, I'm a has-been.
Damn you know it's REALLY creepy when Tarantino says no
Really really surprised that of all people to turn it down, it would be Tarantino
AGREED... it'da been not only creepy but disrespectful.
Seriously man, if you changed your tagline from "You missed this" to "I bet you didn't know...", or "One cool fact...." it would help. I don't think you understand the concept of "missing" something in a movie.
How did I miss something that happened off screen???
Good to know Tarantino has a line
The car originally belonged to George spahn but charles manson used it as his daily driver.
So Manson didn’t murder anyone? Only his associates did? Why wasn’t he in the final act?
@BingoNamo-gb8pz no manson ordered the murders to his followers he brain washed them through drugs and sex if you look up Susan Atkins interview from 1976 she talks about the murders on June 8th 1969 about Sharon tate listen Closely on what she says and there's a rare interview if you can find it its a recording of tex watson confessing to the murders even explaining how he met manson and what occurred during the murders the interview was taken in the mid 70s this was after tex watson gave his life to Jesus christ. Tex watson was almost paroled last year but was turned down he has another hearing in 2026.
That is because Quentin learns from his mistakes!
Manson definitely didn't
These are facts so u should say did you know not u missed this
When this movie came out I was under the impression that they were going to depict the real life murder that took place. After it was done it made sense that he didn’t show that out of respect for Tate’s family. Not using this car was probably for that reason too
He also pays tribute to Christine movie with the car you probably miss that too
Too creepy for Tarantino?
The man uses galons of blood in his movies.
It wasn't creepy for him
He didn't want to glorify the killers
@@fuuuuuuuuuckyouprerna should've wrecked this fookin vehicle. Lets say, Leo burns it to ashes with his flamethrower
@@TheCoppoy yeah that would've been nice
That's cool and all. I have my popcorn and see the comments blow up with people doing the routine they keep doing everyday in your YT Shorts.
Because it sucks.
@@valdie91285 For me, it doesn't. I like this kind of stuff, like fun facts in movies that I haven't seen before. And I like movie recaps too, it removes the 2 days worth of boredom for 5 videos of movie recaps.
@@coop1656 I don't think they meant movie fun facts suck but more this guy keeps implying we miss a detail in a movie there is zero way we could know by watching the movie.
The other movie fun fact channels don't have comments like this channel does since they frame it as movie funfacts not as something we missed in a movie because it was impossible for us to know.
I think it’s more of a “did you know” but because other Yt channels like this say “you missed this in…” he just copied it. I think this channel would be just fine if he kept if he went with his own “did you know in…” and not stick to the same formula other channels are using

Kurt russell needs to work with Matthew mcconaughey
My neighbor in Texas bought a car that had letters from Mansion and even one of his old TVs from prison. He was actually on a show getting it appraised. Seeing that stuff in the flesh and reading his letters was chilling to say the least
Too many ghosts in the closet to use the actual car.
Let that sink in:
Quentin Tarantino was terrified of Charles Manson.
Hearing that Quentin didn’t actually use it when he had the opportunity saddens me

It’s actually in the movie if you look closely. I know everyone says it’s not even the guy that bought all the cars for the movie, but he says they had the original and a replica. So in the ranch scene you can see both cars in the background. There on different sides when the camera switches from Brad to the other characters you see both cars.
He also didnt want to force his actors to sit in a car where an innocent kid was murded
Every car guy that watched it noticed that first time around 💥
Can you make a video about Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005), in duration 32:15 Gromit turn on the radio and we listen the song 'Bright eyes' from the movie Watership Down (1978) based from the same name book novel which is about rabbits.
