About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

I can't believe that Terry had all the furniture and curtains and they just slotted into place. Such vision is truly a talent to admire. And he was so right about the red velvet. I have been so frustrated watching this painstaking journey day by day and week by week but omg the glorious revelation of the vision is so amazing. Well done. Truly

I decorate this way. Of course nowhere near as grand and elegant though! But l do find something l absolutely love, like a print or a chair, or whatever, then build the room around it. Terry takes it to an entirely different extraordinary level and it is all so beautiful and magnificent! It's been wonderful going on this journey with you, and l can't wait to see what else is in store! Bravo!!!!!

He didn’t have the curtains. They got the fabric, and Tracey made the curtains!
It's beautiful. It is completely amazing how you have taken a building that was literally rotting away in many places and becoming a ruin, envisioned what it could be and transformed it into a masterpiece. These rooms are like artwork with all of the details you have added. The colors are wonderful, warm, glowing and inviting in the videos, probably even more so in person. You didn't just make the rooms beautiful; you restored the actual building by repairing, replacing, and restoring the damaged parts, adding insulation, electrical, and a fabulous bathroom. I know this place was probably lovely when it was first built all those many years ago, but you have made it better and more beautiful than it ever dreamed of being. If those first owners could only see it now, they would be happily shocked and amazed at its beautiful transformation.
This family has proven that they are truly worthy of the Gift of Life.
Your Mom is a real trooper. You guys are lucky to have her there with you! God Bless!

After all those long, loooong days of grinding work, it's so rewarding to watch you add your beautiful pieces and bits and bobs to finish the room. You've hung in there through thick and thin, through heat and freezing, and all the trips to the hardware stores, and searching for just the right chandelier at the brocantes, and here you are...it's finally come together and what an achievement! I love the fact you've used gold to pick out your panelling, it gives depth and texture.
If you look at french style curtains, they're quite plain in treatment, just gathered at the top, no pelmets. They tend to go more extravagant on the bed treatments.
Your card table is gorgeous I'm so envious. Keep it covered when not in use, the green baize will fade in sunlight. Also, a cribbage board and pads and pencils for bridge and other scoring games if you have a drawer in the card table... with a couple of packs of cards for canasta 🙂
A little fan on the top of the fire will blow the heat into the room. Its not connected to anything, works by convection. Stops the heat being drawn up the chimney.
Now that the rooms are fully furnished, it has become a beautiful work of 'restoration'. The rooms of the 400 Suite are looking wonderful and will look good with a vase of the chateau's own flowers. A truly remarkable job has been done by "all", a real team effort. Congratulations on a job well done.

Two suggestions: In that spot in the hall where the tall plant stand was, maybe try to find a large plant (fern, palm etc) to go in that corner. Maybe there were specific plants that came indoors in the 1700s? No idea.
Idea two - if you could find period specific games to go in the salon that would be interesting as well. Obviously they would have to be recreated so we're not touching artifacts, but if I ever did come to the chateau I'd love to learn a game from the past.

IKR? I want one for every room too, and a drone capture of the outside front and back! They just need the best resolution and presto, we got puzzles! This can help fund future rooms, like the main salon, that we have all been patiently waiting for, as they all work so very hard to make things a reality! Their talents are OUT OF THIS WORLD! Maybe they can also create a trivia game based upon the stages and finds of this amazing endeavor!

You need to get some playing cards with the Chateau De La Lacelle on the back or your emblem on them. Have them as gifts that your guests can keep as a reminder of their stay there.
An array of peacock feathers in a beautiful vase on the plant stand would be in keeping with the time frame of the decor. Spread out a deck of old playing cards on the games table or decorate the table with an old chess set. 🇦🇺🦘🦘🇦🇺
Tartan throw green and red and port and sherry crystal decanters and maybe a cigar humidor. But it’s stunning very special lovely for sure

It is amazing how you have transferred the rooms with LOTS of furniture.
My only comment would be all the work involved keeping it all dusted and cleaned as Guests leave and it is change over day as Guests would expect pristine condition and there are so many nooks and crannies. You have all done well. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🍷🍷
The little table in the corner of the entrance room needs flowers. The Entrance and Salon are beautiful, I can't wait to see the bedroom and bathroom furnished. I bet it was wonderfully warm and cosy in there with the fire on. It would probably warm the entrance too after a few hours and with a fire going in the bedroom at the same time the whole suite will be snuggly warm. You need a basket of some type for collecting dirty dishes and bringing clean dishes. I didn't see a waste basket anywhere. I'm sure there are a few things that you still have on your list of suite supplies. You have to stay in the suite for a weekend or a week to know what your guests will need to be comfortable.
Wonderful job!!! All that is missing from the Titanic era look is a crystal decanter of brandy awaiting the gentlemen after a long day of work.

Terry, Ash & Tracy never disappoint - what a magnificent achievement! These rooms are spectacular and I can't wait to see the bedroom and bathroom. The attention to detail is really something to see and with Terry's experience with textiles, I'm looking forward to seeing all the homey touches - luxurious pillows and throws not to mention the books, ornaments, flowers and plants. I'm thinking that you'll need to get your online booking system up and running soon for those who want to book their visits in 2025.

My sister had the knack of looking at a mess of a room and see just the right color and furniture for a room. She would tell me and I would thick no, just no. But when she was done it would be beautiful. It is a gift I wish I had. I have learned just because I don't see it, I need to keep an opened mind. It's amazing how an eclectic mix of furniture can be brought together in a room and it looks like it was meant for it. The suite is absolutely regal ! While you describe the salon as " gentlemanly" the beautiful details appeal to me just as much. You strike a lovely balance of masculine and feminine. Love the green in all lighting, sunlight and indoor lighting too. Your editing is pleasing with the instrumental music and the gorgeous shots of the exterior of the chateau. Most of all I love your attention to detail and perfection.

The card stand in the corner could house a little bronze statue, perhaps dog bronze or something. As for the vitrine, I like the idea of displaying more Olympic/Titanic/White Star Line trinkets there. it would be fitting and I could imagine some replicas saucers/plates, as well as menus etc. in there.

My ancestors came from France, and were of nobility. At some point soelling was changed and actual name of our ancestoral Chateau name was lost. I watch you and dream that maybe our Chateau was similar to this one, and it makes me happy to see you painstakingly restore this beautiful Chateau. The farthest back we have gone simply shows last name of Chateau.. now Shatto. Thank you for letting me in on the Dream. It would be so wonderful to come stay there when it's ready! Blessings!

The room is truly stunning make sure to get felt pads for the furniture so it doesn’t scratch the floor when people move it and coasters for the tables for when they put their drinks on it.🥰

You guys have absolutely perfected these rooms! I do have one suggestion as far as your plant choices, I would suggest huge very full ferns. Ferns were very popular in this era. If you do some research on CZcams, look up marble house as well as the Biltmore, these are all golden age houses and should be able to give you a very distinctive look as far as how they were dressed around this period. You should I'll be so incredibly proud of your hard work! Bravo!!

My mum was born in Manchester, became an American war bride and settled in the US. She always loved her British roots (There is a point to this. 😉 ) One of her favorite Record Albums was Gracie Fields "Our Gracie" There is a song on it called "The Biggest Aspidistra in the World" It's a hoot AND the plant is very Victorian; would look great in the corner on the plant stand! Told you there was a point to this. 😁I love what you have done with the chateau (just discovered your channel today!) I am watching segments to catch up! A job well done by all of you!
