Julia, what a fun episode. I’m a very new knitter, and absolutely obsessed with sock knitting. Thank you for showing your work and giving details about heels and cuffs and patterns. More, please!!!

I have that Winifred Sanderson yarn too, and funny enough, I ended up frogging mine. I really think you should frog that pair instead of having a D pair you don't like. If you start them over and put in a contrasting heel, you'll like them and be happy to wear them. It's hard to pull out hours of work, but it feels better mentally than having a pair you look at and cringe. 🙂

Hello from Ontario Canada, I like very much to knit socks! Small, portable… but right now I am knitting the Roosty tank top by Ella Gordon with Jamieson+Smith yarn. You have a new subscriber!😊

I really love the Patrons Kroy sock yarn. It has some substance to it. I am not a big fan of the superwash merino/nylon yarn. it is too soft for my liking. A suggestion on doing colorwork. You can work them so the floats are on the outside. That makes it so they are longer than when they are on the inside. You can work the rest of the sock that way as well and then when you are ready to kitchner the toes, just turn the sock right side out.

All of your socks are STUNNING!! I feel so validated hearing you say sock color gives you life because I feel that way about every skein of yarn I buy for socks!! :p

Hello Julia - I am a Julia from England, but I go by Jinny.
Your podcast came up randomly on my feed, and I really enjoyed it.
I am an avid sock knitter, but I always do a heel flap and gusset and a 2x2 rib.
Unlike you, I prefer a longer leg on my socks, and tend to do a 72 round leg after a 25 ound cuff.
I do not like lacy patterns, but love a texture in the knitter.
Re 100% pure wool socks: I get some beautiful Blue Faced Leicester wool from a sheep sanctuary here, and it knits up beautifully. As long as you do a tight gauge, then there is no problem.
What size needle do you use, and do you use DPNs or Magic Loop of 9” circulars?
I shall now watch some of your older podcasts!
    Jinny - UK

Hi Jinny! Thanks so much for the comment!❤️ I’ve never made lacy socks before, but I love texture and bright crazy colours!
I am a tighter knitter so I use 2.5mm needles and switch between magic loop on a long circular and DPNs!

Love your socks! A tip on the color work - go up one needle size in this area and helps - then back to original size needle the remaining pattern. Have you seen the book The Sock Project by Summer Lee? It's a great new sock book and i think you would LOVE all her colors and patterns. Thanks for sharing a fun podcast. Hello from California...I have been thinking I need some Berks - socks and summer are my preference - does that look with shorts and dresses? I am much older than you and really struggle with this odd ball stage in my life 🙂

Thanks so much for the comment! I will definitely try to change my needle size for colourwork socks next time! I have seen The Sock Project book and SOOO want to get a copy!❤️ You can totally rock the Birks and socks like me😉👍🏼 (I haven’t ever tried to wear them with dresses though)!
